We hope you have your sunglasses on: Cyprus is bringing blinding beauty. Broadcaster CyBC has confirmed that Andromache will sing “Ela” — that means “come” — at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
The song draws on ethnic motifs to create something truly timeless. We’re ready to come into the sunshine and to enjoy Andromache’s good vibrations.
The video captures Andromache’s undeniable beauty and sensuality. Serving Cypriot Bridgerton vibes, our girl works every frame inside her palace, bathing in golden light, playing chess, and strutting with her ladies through a lush garden.
Her emotional landscape is as rich and fertile with some English lyrics to help y’all get the meaning: “All in my head, all in my lucid dreams, take my pain away, ela, ela……you could be my only one.”
The song and its music video were presented on CyBC on Wednesday. The music video will be available exclusively on the Panik Records web site on Thursday 10 March. It will be released on all platforms on Friday 11 March.
The song has a strong team of songwriters behind it, including “Fuego” hitmaker Alex Papaconstantinou (who has worked with stars including Jennifer López, Paulina Rubio, Enrique Iglesias, Antique, Elena Paparizou, and, of course, Eleni Foureira). And then there’s Eurovision 2009 alum Arash, who placed third alongside AySel with his song “Always”.

Andromache will sing “Ela” at Eurovision 2022
Here’s CyBC’s official announcement.
“The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation announces that Cyprus will be represented at the 66th Eurovision Song Contest, to take place this coming May in Torino, Italy by the up-coming and popular singer Andromache, who is signed to Panik Records.”
“Andromache will be performing the song titled “Ela” by a team of worldwide distinguished composers led by Alex Papaconstantinou and comprising of: Arash, Eyelar Mirzazadeh, Fatjon Miftaraj, Filloreta Raci Fifi, Geraldo Sandell, Giorgos Papadopoulos, Robert Uhlmann, Viktor Svensson and Yll Limani.”
“The staging of the entry has been assigned to the internationally acclaimed artistic directors Marvin Dietmann and Dan Shipton.”
You’ll recall that Marvin and Dan were responsible for several acts last year, including Elena Tsagrinou’s much-celebrated performance of “El Diablo” and Bulgaria’s touching performance of “Growing Up Is Getting Old”.
Marvin is perhaps best-known for helping Cesar Sampson win the jury vote at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon.
About Andromache
Andromache is repped by Panik Records — the same label behind iconic stars like Demy, Elena Tsagrinou, Eleni Foureira and Ivi Adamou.
She rose to fame in 2015 when she competed on The Voice, and subsequently she’s drawn comparisons to a “beautiful fairy” on stage, owing to her distinctive vocal tone. It’s no wonder that she’s collaborated with the likes of Konstantinos Argiros, Nikos Vertis and Nikos Oikonomopoulos.
Her debut single “To Feggari” was written by Giorgos Papadopoulos, and she’s followed that up with songs she wrote herself, including “De Mporo” and “Den Se Dialeksa”.
Her 2019 song “Na Soun Psema” was a huge success, passing two million views on YouTube in just a few months. It now has more than 5 million.
What do you make of the announcement? Are you excited to see Andromache sing “Ela” at Eurovision 2022? Let us know in the comments below!
This is yet another rip off of another song. Clean bandit ft Ellie Goulding
Thousands times better than previous 2 Cyprus entries which were plastic but lets be honest even this one is not special one it’s dated, not bothered entry…Cyprus when are you gonna win..look turkey, greece, finland and portugal got their first victory after many years of participation..Cyprus participation is sooooooooooooooooooo long ,shame really
Yes nice enough entry from Cyprus, ..back to old school Cypriot entries. though I don’t expect much of a result, to be honest.
This is the biggest grower of this season, I’m calling it now. Also I find it really funny how some people here are completely disregarding the fact that Cyprus is one of three countries that has both participated and qualified out of every single year, starting from 2015. If anything, they clearly know what they’re doing lol. (They did avoid a huge bullet in 2020 tho, I’ll give y’all that haha)
It’s so ridiculous and laughable that there are people saying that this is a very slow song, when it has an uptempo beat… Probably their brains are melted of so much mediocre techno beats… Oh yes, and is also ridiculous and laughable making a quote of a sentence that millions of people use and then calling other people ignorant, with a total lack of manners and respect…
It’s so ridiculous and laughable that there are people who compare Ela with Fuego…
As Taylor Swift said ”Haters gonna hate…” But next time find better excuses at least!
Where is everyone listening to it? I can’t find a full official version available…
When will Cyprus understand that the time for this kind of entries are over!…
Music has no expiration date….
But certain kind of songs in the ESC have and that is the issue.
Ok
Cyprus has never sent sth like that before
As a Greek I can confirm this is half pop half Greek traditional music
This is not the same
Sorry but it is Fuego and Diablo all over again but now with some supposedly Greek/Cypriot elements instead of Hispanic.
Fuego is a pop dance song. Ela is ethnic/traditional, sensual and very slow…
How can you compare this song with Fuego ???
Don’t be so ignorant… this is getting ridiculous!
Same concept, only slower. And don’t you be so rude. Didn’t your parents teach you any manners?
oh yes, same concept. they both use music and lyrics. HOW DARE THEY?!
Aren’t you a funny one ah ah ah
the lyrics are literally talking about perfect harmony affection and love while Fuego is a banger about fire
ok this is getting funny
i am a native greek and I know about greek traditional music
this ahs NOTHING to do with el diablo or fuego you don’t even know what you are talking about!
I like that it sounds quite Greek/Cypriot. It’s enjoyable, but this isn’t lighting my fire or anything.
With that many writers all I can think of is Senhit and “Adrenalina”. That many writers for a basic song?
They aren’t all writers. This team has musician, orchastrators, writers and others.
To be honest, it’s kinda what I expected although it is pleasant with a middle Eastern feel to it, it just doesn’t hit the spot. Plus I honestly can’t understand what Andromache is saying. Her style of singing makes the annunciation sound lazy and undecipherable at times.
Cyprus have definitely found their stride though so it should do okay at Eurovision. Unfortunately it’s not for me.
Nothing new with Cyprus. Always the same stuff. Next please.
how is this the same with the pop divas with bangers cyprus sent thee past 3 years?
come one this is half pop hal\f traditional greek music it even has greek! Cyprus has b\never sent anything like that! Shut your mouth if you don’t know
How about you be more respectful towards people with different opinions instead of telling them to “shut their mouth”?
im ok with his /her opinion but he thinks he know everything!!! He goes ahead saying its the same without even knowing!
No need to be rude. People are allowed opinions.
Another pathetic troll attempt.
I like the song but I wonder if this will go the way of Yianna Terzi with Oniro Mou
Not If they don’t pull off a fantastic staging. That was the main flaw of Greece’s 2018 entry. It didn’t have a great staging.
Yianna Terzi had an amazing staging imo
That song sucked. No amount of staging could have saved it.
Yes they will put Andromache white clothes and yellow/white hand – as a conversation between her and Cyprus
Not good … No Final …
Little bop.
Cyprus isn’t reinventing the wheel or anything and it’s not like it’s nothing we haven’t really heard before in Eurovision over the years but I expect this will do well.
Killer staging ala El Diablo and I can guarantee that Cyprus will get a good result.
So this song has A LOT of composers – here is how many: Alex Papaconstantinou, Arash, Eyelar Mirzazadeh, Fatjon Miftaraj, Filloreta Raci Fifi, Geraldo Sandell, Giorgos Papadopoulos, Robert Uhlmann, Viktor Svensson and Yll Limani. With that many fingers in a 3 minute pie, it should be stellar. However it is NOT stellar.. It’s not bad, but not stellar. If Andromache can nail the vocals live, she can lift this song. The staging has been handed to Marvin Dietman, so let’s see. This will either lift of flop, based on the staging and live performance. As it is now, 4.5 /10… Read more »
Same. Its pretty much just below middle of the pack for me so far. Perhaps with a few more listens and then the staging reveal, it may just catapult it up the list for me, but as for now, 5/10 for me.
The song sounds like bulgarian pop-folk/chalga. lol Maybe Bulgaria should send Galena for Eurovision 2023.
Can someone please explain to me how Fifi and Yll Limani (albanian singers) ended up collaborating with her? It looks like a very unlikely collaboration.
maybe song composed for fik ?
Song containing Greek composed for fik? I don’t think so
I give Cyprus props for not going the expected route…I hope they are rewarded…it’s a very pleasant song…curious how Greece, Azerbaijan and Armenia come to the contest this year, because all 3 can typically deliver strong pop-dance bangers…and this year there seems to be a clear opportunity for those in the Semis…the only 2 this year have both strong latin bases, although Albania could fall into this category too
Not going the expected route? 😀 They are going with a song 100% typical for Cyprus/Greece, so it’s too predictable and “safe”. I really like the song, but it’s boring when countries don’t try anything new and strange for their local market. Seem like Serbia is the only brave country so far 😀 Let’s see, 9 more countries have to choose their songs, so let’s hope at least one of them will go for something unexpected and out of the box, because it will be boring if only Serbia is bringing something new. I like hearing new sounds, rhytms, instruments,… Read more »
With what should they go? With a song typical for Azerbaijan? Songs represent the country, when was the last time Cyprus sent something that ethnic? Loolll
You should do your homework, because Cyprus sent ethnic songs many times before. They are definitely always playing safe, never send anything revolutionary and different, so don’t write comments like this, because it shows you base your writing on liking this song or Cyprus as a country, and not on valid and true argument. Cudos to Mark for stating what every person with good hearing can notice but isn’t writing here for whatever reason
Pretty good!
Nothing groundbreaking by any means but you can’t resist vibing to this if you’re from the Balkans at least, it’s not possible…
Congrats Cyprus its very good !! I love the ethnic side of this song and her voice is fantastic !! The greek language is so pretty!
Top 10/15 for me in the big final !
I listen to quite a lot of international music, I need to admit it – this song is a typical greek pop song, this one in particular is not outstanding, not memorable but still somewhat enjoyable.
Not a winner IMHO but I am really looking forward to see her staging.
In compare to last year’s song – it is a downgrade for me.
Good luck though Cyprus!!! ??????
I’m not willing to say who will be top ten yet because we have to see who qualifies. Will this qualify? For certain.
Cyprus is literally reinventing ethnic bops this year and some bitter eurofans say this isnt memorable or fast enough, yeah sure go and vote Bulgaria then that is memorable
Amazing song! Cyprus keeps sending singers and songs that are Top 10 material. I’ve listened to Ela just once and it already is my #1. If she can sing live just as well as the studio version and have good staging we may have a winner.
dont know about staging but her voice is amazing, check some of her covers in her youtube channel where she just sings with a guitar she is a pure talent
“Cyprus keeps sending singers and songs that are Top 10 material”… They literally placed in the top 10 once in the last 16 years, lol. That kinda means that they were not top 10 material, except Eleni.
This is what Greek pop music sounds like, this is exactly what you will listen to any Greek club. Like it or not Cyprus stayed true to its culture this year. Oh and don’t get me wrong just because it sounds like every Greek pop song, it doesn’t mean it’s bad. On the contrary this will be a massive hit in both Cyprus and Greece. Hopefully in Europe as well. Good job Cyprus! Very refreshing.
I like it 7/10
I lke it. 7/10
Also, is it me or we have a record number of non-English songs this year? I count 12 so far: 4 with part English lyrics (very minimal) and 8 with no English at all. I think that’s great, probably seeing the impact of having 2 non-English winners in the span of 4 contests (and also 4 non-English songs in the top 5 last year).
It’s good, but not a record. 2009 and 2008 had about nineteen or twenty non-English songs. Obviously, there were more before 1999 too.
When I posted this comment I literally thought that a man would *for sure* come in and mansplain that there were more songs in national languages before they relaxed the language rules, haha… Never fails 😉
Good point about 2008 and 2009 though, didn’t remember there were so many non-English songs back then (but contest got so bad in the 2000s that I had just stopped watching). There’s still more songs to be released this year, hopefully we get more (I’m thinking at least Portugal).
I deliberately used the word “obviously” to avoid seeming like that, but oh well, my bad.
Lol sis, you love some self-proclaimed prophecy, no?
Well in semi final two the only other languages instead of English so far are Greek Italian and Serbian
i knew we’d see yll limani in eurovision one day but as a songwriter for cyprus i never wouldve guessed! this is a really good track, my current 4th and i believe it could be a contender to win if the staging is good
This is going to be in my top 5, if not number 1! This song is a grower and reminds me of Helena Paparizou´s & Kalomira´s entries! Had to wait 15 years to get something similar but was definitely worth it! 12 points from Spain!
I don’t think the song is available yet in the US, I’ve listened to something on YouTube but not 100% this was legit (it was not from an official account). But everything seems to indicate they’re finally moving away from the cheap summer hits with 2-syllable Spanish names, and that’s good! Finally bringing us something more authentic.
There’s literally only one Cypriot entry with a two-syllable Spanish name…
Actually.. zero
“fue-go”
Two syllables.
Fu – e -go. Three.
Maybe not…
Nothing is too small for me to argue over. I should probably go to bed now.
Diablo consists of 2 syllables as well 😀
“el di-ab-lo”
Native Spanish. That’s four syllables.
It’s actually three, as the “ia” in “diablo” is a diphthong
It’s four it doesn’t count as one
The songs is a grower….but I need to hear a live version because there is a lot of vocal processing which gives it a mysterious/ethereal vibe.
Lol for the nickname
I’m so disappointed this year ? will literally be voting for Norway at this point
This is so mysterious and soothing. I imagine the waves gently lapping against a sun-kissed Mediterranean beach. I really like it!
Oh God these comments here most probably are coming from trolls just to pump it up. Its not a bad song but it is far from being good as well. I hope she is good live but his can struggle to qualify.
Balkan summer hit 2022 guaranteed!!! I love it! Very Mediterranean, very pop, very ethnic, very everything! Love greek music, so I’m SUPER HAPPY to hear greek language and traditional instruments at Eurovision. I hope Europe will recognize and acknowledge this gem! Goodluck Cyprus!
It is not a gem
True to her music? I don’t think she was involved in the production or writing process.
its exactly her music style. She is not a pop diva like Tamta. Do your research first.
This is a new direction for Cyprus, very much more etherial and softer. I wish more songs were like this, I really enjoy it
It sounds quite pleasant, I like it!
This is a bop that ACTUALLY seems risky.
I hope it pays off!
This song is beautiful I’m happy Cyprus have gone in a different direction. Straight into my top 10.
Off topic (sorry my apologies but): the UK will reveal their entry tomorrrow.
Not good … NQ for sure
Interesting that the past couple of years you call every Cypriot entry a Fuego ripoff and now that we send something completely different suddenly it’s old fashioned. Lame.
Well, many Eurovision fans are possessed by Salvador Sobral’s musical tastes. Cyprus has given me the happiest moments of the past 3 contests.
Well done Cyprus. Very good choice. I love the ethnic vibes, the production of the song is really good, it’s original. It could be much better in full Greek.

THIS IS GOOD!!! 12 POINTS!!! THX YOU MY BALKAN FRIENDS 🙂
Clear audio in this link everyone !!!!
lovely song from Cyprus 🙂
“Come to me, mystery, listen to your heart tonight
Let’s be free, mon ami, feels like a fairytale”
Am I the only one seeing the resemblance?
yes.
I loved your answer. 🙂
Hello 2005.
When I saw the title, I was remembering 2005, and was a bit jittery. As you see, I’m really not a fan of the previous Ela Ela. Thankfully, I liked the new one. There was nothing to worry about after all.
I thought the same thing. I graduated from highschool in 2008 and this sounds exactly like those “Iibiza party hits” of that time.
