The first rehearsals for the grand final of Melodifestivalen final 2022 have come and gone. On Thursday all twelve finalists took to the stage in Stockholm. Did we see any dramatic changes from the four heats? Let’s find out! Read our thoughts and impressions of all the artists as we saw them below…

Melodifestivalen 2022 Rehearsal Schedule – Thursday March 10

Each artist performed three times.

13:00 – 13:25 Faith Kakembo

13:30 – 13:55 Tone Sekelius

14:00 – 14:25 Cazzi Opeia

14:30 – 14:55 THEOZ

Break

15:20 – 15:45 Klara Hammarström

15:50 – 16:15 Medina

16:20 – 16:45 Anders Bagge

16:50 – 17:15  Anna Bergendahl

Break

18:20 – 18:45 Robin Bengtsson

18:50 – 19:15  Cornelia Jakobs

19:20 – 19:45  John Lundvik

19:50 – 20:15 Liamoo

Faith Kakembo – “Freedom”

Faith Kakembo is the first one to perform. Visually not much has changed since Faith competed in heat three. The dark theme is still there. However, Faith did not have the same power in her voice today. I’m guessing she’s saving her voice for the jury show tomorrow.

Tone Sekelius – “My Way”

If you thought that 40m trenchcoat was enough, then you couldn’t be more wrong! For the final Tone has added some extra layers of fabric, making it even longer. Also, her red dress had a makeover – with sparkling stones all over it. But that’s not the only change. On top of the pyro waterfall from last week, pyro fountains have been added, making it look like New Year’s Eve. You can really tell that she enjoys being on the stage and is proud of the message of the song!

Cazzi Opeia – “I Can’t Get Enough”

Cazzi remains the happy splash of colour and did not change too many things. She’s still wearing her rainbow-sequins dress and spreads fun with her performance. During the last run through, the added pyro hits her in the face. So a few tweaks need to be made.

THEOZ – “Som du vill”

THEOZ changed his outfit from purple to white. He is also, as many other artists are, bringing a bigger pyro show for the final.

Klara Hammarström – “Run to the Hills”

Her vocals are much better today compared to heat four. Some small changes have been added in the visuals but not much. Overall a good performance.

Medina – “In i dimman”

A potential summer hit! I think Medina will do very well with the public voting on Saturday. It is a strong performance and has a good beat. No changes compared to their last performance.

Anders Bagge – “Bigger than the Universe”

The biggest change is the LED visuals. For the final we will see different images of landscapes that takes us all around the world, from oceans, to forests to mountains.

Anna Bergendahl – “Higher Power”

Anna Bergendahl seems to be pretty satisfied with her staging as almost nothing has changed. A few tweaks with the camera positions here and there but all in all this performance is ready for Saturday. The only real difference is her hairstyle: she’s chosen to let go of her braid. Her hat throwing technique remains powerful though!

Robin Bengtsson – “Innocent Love”

What an improvement! Robin feels so much more comfortable with his performance compared to heat one. We all know Robin isn’t the greatest dancer on stage but his moves feel stronger now and he’s not as stiff as we saw in heat one. Also, this time he is using the whole stage. He skipped the part where he is laying down and instead they have extended the tone part of the stage making it look like Robin is more connected with the audience.

Cornelia Jakobs – “Hold Me Closer”

No surprise: the favourite for Saturday didn’t need to change much and so she hasn’t. It is remarkable how intimate the performance looks on screen in this big arena. The circle still changes from white to green to red for the final. However, it remains spinning after she pushed it thanks to a little hidden engine. The run-throughs are mainly there for her to nail all the camera shots – which she obviously does.

John Lundvik – “Änglavakt”

John Lundvik changed his bracelets and they are white and brown now instead of colourful. As you can tell, there aren’t too many changes. He keeps his outfit, his movements and the camera shots. And the emotions are there as well of course! This performance is polished and already ready for Saturday.

Liamoo – “Bluffin”

Here we go people! Liamoo brings four male dancers on the stage. Seeing them now makes it clear how much they were needed: They make a big difference to the whole performance. They are trying different choreography with each try, so we still don’t know which one they will choose for the final.

Don’t make this a self-fulfilling prophecy, Sweden: cause tomorrow will hurt/hurt really bad/cause I’m about to lose the best I ever had

Sigh, the audience on tonights rehearsals voted Bagge as their favorite…20 votes ahead of Tone and 23 votes ahead of Cornelia and Klara who shared third place….incredible how stupid Swedes are…if he f*ing wins, me as a Swede will not oppose all Sweden hate, Sweden deserve it so keep on hating please because they deserve it if they vote Anders as winner.

And do these people decide the outcome? Do they vote? I mean Tone second, no way that will happen
And the rehersal audience consists mostly of families and elders right?
Dont forget there is jury too deciding outcome..

I think even if Anders wins the televote it won’t be a landslide victory. The juries will probably put him out of their top 3 maybe even their top 5.

Even if he wins televote I think he wont win it. Juries will put other songs before him. Besides it is unlikely he will get all 96 points from voters..

You all seem to think Bagge will get every single televote. Like everybody will just vote for him, nobody else. He wont

I’ll be honest: It genuinely scares me how much the swedes will vote for Anders tomorrow. If he gets the full 96 points from the televotes, I wouldn’t be surprised. Extremely disappointed, but not surprised.
That would mean Cornelia needs a lot of points ahead in the jury…

Cornelia is in the first place in all winning odds here in Sweden and she also have more listeners than Anders on Spotify

How do you think the age groups will be voting? I don’t think Anders will win every age group tbh

I really dont think it matters. Mostly young people use Spotify, older people use other ways.
And do odds makers know the popularity of Bagge?
But I do agree its unlikely every group will gave Bagge highest score. Noone under 50 likes him that much..

We dont know since the age groups wont be shown but its unlikely he will get all 96 points. No one under 50 really likes him and older people dont use app, if they vote at all..
Cornelia has a wide base with fans from age 12 to 74, based on social media. So while Bagge might get most points I doubt he will get all points

Liamoo needs to keep the key change for the final chorus like he does in the studio cut. It felt monotonous when he didn’t in the second heat.

Cornelia and only Cornelia. The only chance for Sweden to compete for their 7th trophy.

Bagge’s screensaver stopping the Cornelia hype train would be such a painfully anticlimactic end to a NF season that finally picked up some steam last weekend… Klara, LIAMOO and, especially, Medina are all enjoyable but Cornelia still seems like the obvious choice for Torino.

Personally I am rooting for Klara, but I’d be quite happy with Cornelia or Liamoo. Unpopular opinion but I don’t dislike Anders song, though it isn’t my favourite, evidently.

For some perhaps, but there also some pretty clear comments to indicate that others very much dislike the song. Nothing wrong with that of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it is an observation nevertheless.

frankly the Swedes, if you vote for the notoriety of Anders Bagge or Klara instead of their song, it’s just nonsense!!!

Vote for THE song, it’s the principle and Cornelia is your winner and THE Eurovision winner (I’ve felt the winners since 2016 and I’ve never been wrong) so please Sweden choose the song which makes your heart vibrate and not by notoriety of the artist!!

Download the app named “melodifestivalen”. During the live show you press the button in the bottom menu named “rösta”. There you can select the entry you wish to heart vote for. You can give up to 5 hearts per song for free. Then after the jury votes have been handed out you get 5 more votes per song. It’s also possible to dial the number on screen for a minor fee. (Usually around 4 SEK per call). If you use the expensive number (for 10 SEK per call) you also give money for charity and the latest weeks it has… Read more »

I really think Klara is the best choice for Sweden. It’s the only memorable one in my opinion. Good to hear she’s improved her vocals as people overly criticising her voice can stop.

I’m so attached to Cornelia’s song now, even though I didn’t get the hype at first. If Sweden is choosing for yet another meaningless, cheesy pop song like Voices last year I won’t forgive them. I need Cornelia’s integrity and realness.

Yeah, As much as I like the sun, I agree that the staging needed some dancers because he looked so alone performing. They will help fill in the space

I just checked the Spotify streams although they don’t mean much but Cornelia is on 1.8m, Anders 1.9m and Klara 2.4m.

I think the televote won’t be a landslide win for whoever it is, but I think it’s safe to say Cornelia should hopefully not struggle with the televote.
