The news it out and Rosa Linn is in. Below is the official press release from Armenia’s AMPTV.

The Public TV Company of Armenia is pleased to announce that after a careful internal selection process Rosa Linn was chosen to represent Armenia at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

The 21-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer was born and raised in Vanadzor, Armenia. She has been fond of music since childhood and started her professional career with the record label “Nvak Collective”.

In her own words, Rosa says: “From the outside looking in, the odds seemed like they were against me – an unknown girl from a small town in Armenia. But the power of manifestation is real when it is combined with hard work; persistence; and just putting oneself out there. I’m excited to let people into my inner-world through my music. And I’m beyond honored to be able to represent my beloved country on the biggest stage in Europe.”

According to Executive Director of the Public TV, Hovhannes Movsisyan, the First Channel faced adifficult choice. However, a decision was made to give a chance to a young artist to represent Armenia. “The Armenian representatives in Eurovision have usually been famous artists in the past, but this international contest is also a great platform to discover new talent and to give them a chance of self-realization. We are thrilled to be back and reunite with the Eurovision family with new talent,” says Movsisyan.

David Tserunyan, the head of the Armenian delegation at the Eurovision Song Contest says, “Together with local and international focus groups, which included both professionals and fans of the contest, we have reviewed several applications from well-known, as well as new-coming artists. As a result, 21-year-old Rosa Linn was selected to represent Armenia in Eurovision 2022: a small town girl with a big heart and her own story. Our team is at the final stage of the production and we’re excited to share this story with the Eurovision community and the world.”

Rosa Linn’s song and music video will premiere on March 19.

Eurovision 2022 will take place in Turin. Rosa Linn will perform in the first semi-final, on May 10. The representatives from Albania, Latvia, Switzerland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Denmark, Austria, Croatia, Iceland, and Greece will also perform on the same day.

Tired of Athena Manukian speculations. She won national selection with a song but that song is not eligible any more and Armenia has no obligation to chose that girl who almost has no connection to Armenia. Public TV of Armenia made annoying choice. This girl is not eyefriendly especially for type of songs she performs. If they wanted to give chance to young and talented performers they could find much better ones like: Thoz Girlz, Parg, Brunete, Yelowheart etc

The fact that part of the song leaked and people hate it says a lot. Armenia chose to sacrifice athna for a random girl with an annoying tiktok background song and all for a song that doesnt snap at all (pun intended). just because its her dream to become a musician doesnt mean she earned it or armenia owns her a shot at esc.

I don’t mind them waiting to give us the song. The contest is not until May. Two months early is not late.

I totally agree with you. People in the comments are in a rush, they were already losing their minds cause the host city was not announced in September (9 months before the contest).

So… why exactly do they find it necessary to not only wait ’til nearly the deadline to announce the artist, but the song is going to be released almost a week after the deadline? Feels completely mundane to me…

There are english subtitles availlable in the Youtube video from the ESC channel.

Admittedly, I’m not invested in ESC enough to understand the subtle beef going on here. Is Azerbaijan the only reason why Armenia releases their song so late every year?

Ron

No it’s not. It mostly has to do with budgeting which people here don’t understand.

How does budget affect Armenia’s habit of releasing their entry late?

Ron
Ron

Reply to  BadWoolfGirl

It’s not a habit. It’s the result of the broadcaster having to pay for everything song+music video+promotion and all of that costs money. Since AMPTV does not get Armenian government funding until March, they fall behind schedule. To be clear, Rosa Linn’s song has been ready for a while now, but instead of just releasing a song, they are working on the whole package…makes sense?

Armenia does so for budgeting reasons, and Azerbaijan only does so because they’re ridiculous lol

One Russian music expert said on YouTube 4 years ago that in such contests like these it’s more preferable to have songs on the last places of Semi Final 2, since that makes people remember your song a little more. That doesn’t mean they won’t forget it but its impression will last for some time. And that releasing a song at the end can draw much attention.

i hate how they’re releasing their song so late (and what for ?) and on a normal year i’d wish a huge flop on them for this… but i desperately need more songs to stan this year so i wish armenia the best !

I simply have to ask because I was the one who pointed out the problem of associating with Garbagerina – are you back to stanning her for whatever reason? I actually did a google search to see if she condemned the invasion.
Is it meant to be a nod to Poli Genova? I would have neve thought of her but I googled Polina Gonova to see if there was some incredible woman with that name and Poli popped out. I’m so curious and confused. 😀

I agree with the consensus: The only reason to keep it up to 19th is if it needs brushing up and finishing. Since it has to be made by 14th, the reason isn’t that, but ”suspense” of being the last. Which, fine, but you can easily do it on the 15th as well, since everyone else will be chosen by then.
Anyway, welcome to the ESC family, Rosa, and good luck!

I though all songs had to be submitted by the 12th March? Or is it just the artist? Anyway excited for Armenia to be back this year, and I am sure they will be sending another quality song as usual.

Ron

She’s got a really good team behind her – Tamar Kaprelian, NVAK and she’s signed with Warner records. Let’s hope the song they submitted to AMPTV was worth it. And, while I completely share the fact that it’s annoying to wait this long for a song, I’d rather wait long for something good than what we have right now..

Waiting to release is what Both armenia and azerbaijan always do. Probably to hide their bidden messages to their enemy. Its childish and i dont think its in the spirit of Eurovision. Just play by your own strength instead of looking what the other will do….

They are clearly revamping the song which everyone didn’t like when it got leaked. It doesn’t have anything to do with Azerbaijan, it’s not like they have 5 songs ready to go when Azerbaijan releases their song they will just pick one. Do you hear how childish that is. Not everything is a conspiracy theory…

Lala

Why do Armenia and Azerbaijan always reveal their songs so late? Every year they are the last ones to announce it. They wait to see what others songs are, so they can adjust or change something in their own songs? Very annoying and shady

Must be a crime to release the entry after the deadline date. How can we handle all the hype and all the excitement?

BadWoolfGirl

The deadline is to submit the song to the EBU, not to release it publicly. Yes I do admit March 19 is pretty late to release the song but As long as it is submitted within the timeline set up by the EDU, I think it doesn’t matter that much. By the way, when is the deadline to submit the songs to the EBU? Is it March 13 or 14th?

Ressay

I think it’s just the day that all the heads of delegation meet, so I assume is 14th March…

If it is the song that had leaked 30 seconds of it. Then Sorry Armenia, you will stay in the semi. But lets see the full song first, only a bit of it was heard but what has been heard I don’t think is any good.

So what they did, they decided to do internal competition, asking several singers on the rise to submit the songs to them. I just do not understand why they didn’t directly pick whoever they thought would be good choice and then tried to find song as good as possible to them. I would have chosen Athena and then ask several credible songwriters to write a song for her, or eventually do collaboration with Symphonix. I wish Rosa all the best in Eurovision, but I’m not sure about the final if that leaked snippet is their song. JESC victory really hit… Read more »

armenia, i will say that waiting several days after all of the other songs are out doesn’t really build hype it just looks pretentious and will just lead to disappointment from eurofans if the song doesnt live up to expectations. i am excited to see what armenia brings this year and hope they do well but this strategy of scoping out the competition before officially releasing their entry didnt do any major favors for artsvik, im not entirely sure it will for rosa either but my fingers are crossed

why should the song be released far later than the submission deadline date? EBU should not allow that. plus, the deadline date rule should also apply for the public releases.

Released and submitted are not synonyms. The fact it won’t be publicly released until March 19 doesn’t mean the song couldn’t be submitted to the EBU earlier….
