Spain's Chanel confirmed for London Eurovision Party 2022

She’s the “SloMo” songstress who brought the fire to Benidorm. Now, she’s bringing the routine to UK — dance break and all. We’re delighted to confirm Spain’s Chanel will perform at the London Eurovision Party 2022.

On Sunday 3 April, Chanel will make us want mo-mo-mo-mo-more at London’s Hard Rock Hotel for the UK’s biggest and best Eurovision warm-up party.

All-singing, all-dancing sensation Chanel won the right to represent Spain at Eurovision 2022 by triumphing in her country’s national selection show Benidorm Fest

London Eurovision Party 2022

Still loving SloMo. Still in my top 3. This is a complete package

Please don’t eat me in the comments but I think this Spanish entry is even more hyped up than their La Cancion in 2018. The choreography alone doesn’t change the fact that this is just another generic uptempo, radio-friendly song, shaking bottoms and all of that stuff. That is only my personal opinion on the entry after all so please, be respectful. :/

I agree. Fans usually dislike generic songs that has been done so many times. I’m surprised about this one and I can’t really help to think that people might think that it works because it’s from Spain. As a swedish person I’m pretty disgusted about that fact when I think of the comments about swedish songs. This is really nothing new. It could have been on the eurovision stage 20 years ago.

If you’re allowed to take videos, make them slow-motion. Yeah, the lyrics are more direct.

This comment is absolutely unacceptable and homophobic! Moderators, please, remove it.

Can someone who has been to one of these shows please state how long they last. If each act sings 2 or 3 songs then it must last for hours and hours. Great evening out. Pity I live 250 miles away !

But will there be an “Israel calling” this year? The german Eurovision site says that Malik will be attending but nothing comes up when you google it!

it would be nice to see an article regarding the accreditations this year. Many devoted eurovision press members are denied accreditation and there is no explanation why! I even read Robyn’s tweet for not even getting an online accreditation! why?? who decides this and for what??

The EBU press and media team need to justify their role and jobs. The best way to make themselves look good (to their bosses anyway) is to have “exclusive content” (it’s exclusive because they prevent all other sites from making any). It’s likely embarrassing to them that they have a massive budget (hundreds of thousands of euros) but people still want to watch live streams and interviews from fan sites that have zero budget. This is, of course, counterproductive for Eurovision as a brand but they only think of themselves as we all see clearly now.

Imagine Philip Kirkorov doing what Chanel does, in the same clothes as Chanel wears.

Would that be okay?

I’m not trying to body shame, just wondering why it’s only okay for young women to dance or dress like that. Men can’t, especially if they are not good looking enough. Madonna can’t, people say she’s too old – she’s embarrassing herself, a disgrace. Harry Styles likes to be modern, I wonder if he could do this.

This is just me exploring my thoughts again, not trying to argue anything.

My comment was really just to joke with you – as it almost sounded like you were asking if it was okay for you to imagine such a thing. Seriously though, to explore the thought with you, I’d say of course it’s okay for anyone to dance and dress as they want (but if course you already know I’d say that – and I already know you weren’t body shaming anyone). I would say that Eurovision has had both men and women dancing and dressing like this though, Love Love Peace Peace refers to all the “gorgeous topless men”. Doesn’t… Read more »

Isaac Sene did a very sexy dance in the Finland national final, the music video even more so.

I hope Blanco brings his see-through shirt from San Remo to Turin.

I agree with everything you’ve said. I just wish that everybody else did. I genuinely think that if Engelbert Humperdinck had tried this that the broadcast would probably be shut down… so why is Chanel allowed? Misogyny is in there somewhere on one side, feminism on the other.

It’s late now, and I need to go to sleep. Wish me luck with my dreams.

Yeah, misogyny and feminism do sometimes come together as unusual bedfellows.

Good luck with the dreams, Jonas!

For the same reason someone with the worst, most out of tune voice you’ve ever heard shouldn’t sing at Eurovision (and would be embarrassing if they did). It’s not that deep, lol

Everyone can – it’s a good question – perhaps the answer is also about looking in the right places?

I would say that Eurovision is a platform that celebrates all manner of human beings though. Bojana for Serbia 2015 comes to mind.

Bojana wasn’t wearing anything like what Chanel wears.

Destiny tried to last year, at her first rehearsal – she got so many horrible comments that she changed into something else for her second one.

Everyone is free to do what they would like, everyone is also free to dislike the actions of others. Madonna still dances, I donr have to like it. I wish Harry Etyles tried to dance like this

Anyone should be free to dress sexy and express that on stage. Just like anyone should be free to take that as a positive or not in their own personal ranking. We aren’t robots, so of course that when seeing a performance centered around sex appeal, we’ll each like it more if we find the performer good looking. However, what is good looking to one doesn’t have to apply to everyone in the audience. I don’t think that we should discourage anyone from being sexy on stage, but at the same time, we shouldn’t shame the audiences who don’t feel… Read more »

I’d recommend anyone to go to a queer ball if they can – a good ball is full of vibrant people of all types and backgrounds, celebrating life, themselves, and each other, and is a platform for all to get up on stage and dance and feel beautiful.

Anyone should be free to do it, you are right. I just don’t think they are, I think you need to look like Chanel for it to be allowed. The EBU probably would not let a hairy man like Sam Ryder do this. All I’m doing is wondering why. Konstrakta could probably tell me.

Chanel’s song tells us as much about society as Konstrakta’s.

I doubt that EBU has an official policy on the matter. I mean, if they allowed the cringe of Poland 2007 to take place on stage, I think they wouldn’t censor or ban anyone from performing in skimpy clothes (as long as the few *strategic spots* are covered). I think it has more to do with performers themselves being more self-conscious to perform like that if they don’t look a certian way (for the fear of comments). Also has to do with broadcasters being less likely to pick a non-conventionally looking performer to sing a song about seduction and sex.… Read more »

I think things are different for men and women. None of it makes any sense, though. We’ll probably never see three female dancers wearing nothing from the waist up, like we do with men. If anybody ever tried, I’d say the EBU would stop it. Maybe Achille Lauro will try…

I agree that seeing woman’s nipples shouldn’t be an issue, yet they are still within the *strategic spots* I was talking about. EBU would probably interfere, because most countries by current laws likely wouldn’t allow female nipples in shows rated for kids under 18 to see. It’s silly, it shouldn’t be like that, and I hope that it changes soon. But I think that all performers are still, regardless of age, weight, and body features, in theory at least, free to expose anything *but* gentials, butt, and if it’s a woman, nipples.

They don’t? Based on what do you claim that?

Israel will do something similar this year, we had Montanegro did this before. Manz basically took his shirt of and twerk as host I think you are just making unrealistic problems up
