The opening words of Rosa Linn’s “Snap” — her entry for Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
The tender number is genuine and straightforward. Rather than shrieking for attention, Rosa Linn speaks from the heart about getting over an ex.
“Turns out people lie,” she says matter-of-factly. “They said, ‘Just snap your fingers’ as if it was really that easy for me to get over you.”
The chorus seems at once like a meditation and a request to the universe: She reminds herself to breathe through counting, but also tries to expel this person from her heart.
She sings: “I’m snapping one, two, where are you? You’re still in my heart. Snapping three, four, don’t need you here anymore. Get out of my hea-ar-art.”
The Earthy, folksy quality of the song has shades of The Lumineers and their hit “Ho Hey”. Delivered by a young woman with a big heart, the genre gets a special twist driven by a quiet emotional intensity.
Stripped back and at times almost acoustic, this song deserves sensitive, intimate staging that lets Rosa Linn’s sincerity shine through. Get it right and we’re feeling a sleeper hit.

The Public TV Company of Armenia selected Rosa Linn through a careful internal selection process.
The 21-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer was born and raised in Vanadzor, Armenia. She has been fond of music since childhood and started her professional career with the record label “Nvak Collective” — founded by Eurovision 2015 alum and beloved queen Tamar Kaprelian.
In her own words, Rosa says: “From the outside looking in, the odds seemed like they were against me – an unknown girl from a small town in Armenia. But the power of manifestation is real when it is combined with hard work; persistence; and just putting oneself out there. I’m excited to let people into my inner-world through my music. And I’m beyond honored to be able to represent my beloved country on the biggest stage in Europe.”

Rosa Linn, Armenia’s representative at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, has just released her entry song “Snap”, together with the official music video.
Rosa says this song is a journey into her inner world, a personal story everyone can relate to: “I think we’ve all been at a snapping point, where it felt like there’s no way out and that the entire world is just crumbling down around you. You start questioning everything, including yourself. I have been there. And what I realized was that I had the
strength to shape my reality – it just took getting out of my own way and finding inner-peace. It’s all about self-love and accepting that you are enough. Writing “Snap” was a form of therapy for me and I hope that it can be that for others who are also going through hard times.”

Channel One’s music producer Anushik Ter-Ghukasyan says minor adjustments have been made to the initial version of the song composed by Rosa. “Snap” is honest, uplifting and very emotional. That’s because Rosa wrote the song herself and she’s telling her own story. When it comes to production, I am very happy that this year we
have an extraordinary team working on “Snap” – from Yerevan all the way to LA.”
The song was produced by Alex Salibian, Ethan Schneiderman, Larzz Principato, Ben Samama, Lilith Navasardyan (Armenia). Mixing and mastering was done by Grammy winner Tony Maseratti, who collaborated with Aretha Franklin, Beyoncé, Sia, Selena Gomez, Sher, Lady Gaga and other world-famous artists.
“Snap” is a vulnerable, honest, well-crafted pop song,” says Nvak co-founder Tamar Kaprelian. “It will hopefully bring new attention to this up-and-coming generation of Armenian singers, songwriters, and producers.”
The music video was directed by Aramayis Hayrapetyan. “Once I heard “Snap”, I kept thinking that I had to show the artist’s emotions as comprehensibly and correctly as possible. Not leaving the artist in the background was an important precondition for me. We made the video for the purpose of giving the viewers a chance to travel to another, extraordinary reality through artistic and visual solutions,” says Hayrapetyan.

My notes on this were:
A Canadian-sounding two-chord country song. A totally different direction for Armenia. I like Rosa and I hope she can be endearing to a live audience as well. (That floating house is obviously a TARDIS, by the way.)

One of the best songs of the contest. This must be a top 5. Even if it wins I’d be really happy. It has Smith & Tell vibes which is great.

This song is quality and very good ….but has not the winner vibe like “Quami Quami” with Maléna ……that girl + that song could win the ESC 2022 too.
I’m sure Malena will represent Armenia someday in the future and might win the whole thing as well, but let’s enjoy Rosa Linn today

Feel good song. Not a winner, but it should qualify for the finals. A grower; their odds will gradually improve.

Been sitting my comment for a while. I think this song is a little boring for the eurovision fandom but for the average viewer it’s probably going to be okay. But the choice in the song is what’s interesting – nobody expected this from Armenia and I think there is a strategic reason behind it.

All I wanted was another ethnic bop, dear Armenia?
For me this song has its charm, I enjoy the story it tells and it has a fresh feel to it. I worry it’s subtlety is bordering on repetitiveness and it feels slightly monotone which could make it forgettable to the people who hear it for the first time at the contest, which is a shame.
But I do personally like it and wish her well for the contest

It’s a nice, sweet song but it depends on the staging on whether it can elevate the song or downgrade it.
This is so good and with a good performance, good staging and Rosa Linn endearing herself to the viewers at home, I can honestly see this doing very well.

It’s like one of the most qualitative song from this year so I’m surprised to see all that comments saying it’s an average song. Perhaps it’s not what eurovision fans are looking for, I don’t know. But I’m a 100% sure this is objectively one of the best songs this year.

I think I can totally agree with Sabrina’s comment below. It’s a likeable song, very pleasant, but there are many slow to mid-tempo female singer/songwriter entries in this semi, which all are more impactful. I fear Armenia is in trouble of continuing its NQ-streak.
This song is amazing – but it has nothing from Armenia in it. This song could be a top 5 song in the Top 100 US Billboard Charts. Anyway …. what matters is the result and Armenia will do very very good with this song and this outstanding singer.

I’ll be honest here, when I first heard of the leaked version on Twitter, I hated it. It sounded like someone attempted to write an Olivia Rodrigo song and tried to give it to her but her team rejected it.
Listening to the whole finish version felt weird to me now because I actually ending up like the song, probably because a lot change since then. Sure, a bit early Taylor Swift vibe but it’s super catchy and actually quite refreshing to hear. I mean not a top 10 but it is a sure qualifier.
It’s way too pop. Sounds nothing like what Armenia used to send.
What a boring year, waaaay to many ballads. I starter appreciating Israel and Romania, at least they are bringing to the show something more than just a willing to snooze. And do not get me wrong – there are plenty of amazing ballads this year, but all of them together – that is a but too much I think. I am expecting a boring show, unless most teams really pull off their staging.

Wasnt expecting this for a return of Armenia but I like it. Feel good, indie, catchy radio friendly pop. Really good choice
I personally really liked Snap a lot. Pleasant, catchy tune, warm. Totally my thing. Yet I miss countries like Armenia, Greece, Azerbaijan and more to bring their own folk flavour and culture. But at the same time I understand why so many broadcasters are going for the Us pop/radio formula because probably feels the easiest or safest route.
I’m very conflicted here and what direction Esc may go
I wasn’t expecting Armenia to go in a low-key direction, but maybe that’s on purpose considering they are responsible for hosting Junior eurovision later this year and they probably don’t want to risk winning the adult contests so soon and have to juggle organizing both Eurovision contests. I was hoping Armenia would make a grand comeback musical statement, and I wasn’t expecting this, but we’ll see how it goes. Again, maybe Armenia is taking it a little easy so they could focus on hosting junior vision.

I really love this song – It’s an unusual genre for Armenia but I have always thought that Armenia sets itself apart by going outside the box and serving innovative and thoughtful entries. They have been in my top 5 every year since 2014, and this year is no different! Of the two female country-pop songs this year, Croatia feels lost in its unoriginality and uninspiring melodies, while Armenia has a fresh and original ease that is certainly understated, but nevertheless beautiful and showstopping.
Lithuania is currently 33rd in odds. Guys shouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t qualify, especially if she gets to perform at some deadly position like 2.

The song is about waiting for a snap that doesn’t come, kinda described my own feelings about it for me.
I like, it’s charming and pleasant to the ears. Though as many pointed, it lacks something to separate it from the rest of the pack. I agree with Max that this sounds like a Danish MGP entry. One of the good ones like “Say Yes”, I would say.
The problem is that the 1st semi is full of female vocalists with gentle tracks. In my opinion, Greece, Iceland, Lithuania, Netherlands and Portugal all have much better songs. And Croatia is going for a very similar pop-folk vibe, so there’s a chance “Guilty Pleasure” and “Snap” will cancel each other.
I couldn’t have said it better. It’s nice, sweet, but also low-key and not a “heavy hitter”. With Croatia and Iceland being in a similar realm of relaxing pop-folk, it will have a tough time to qualify. The only good news for these countries is that semi 1 only has 4-5 big favorites, and many of these “nice, low-key” songs might make it with a good staging and vocals. Maybe…

What a nice surprise to see Armenia send something different to their standard fayre………but its not good. It sounds like something Malta would have sent 10 years ago which is a shame. I was expecting something superb for having to wait this long for a reveal. This will likely struggle to qualify.
I am happy to see different song-writers performing at Eurovision. But this year there are too many songs in English.
If she still can’t turn her head off at 4AM I suggest she listens to Switzerland’s song.

Surprising to see Armenia go with a folk song. It might not be flashy enough for some people, but if they can stage it well I could see it going to the final. (stage it similar to the video)

I like it, it’s very easy to listen. I would listen to it when I’m calm, driving and so but I don’t think it is very competitive, unfortunately. Armenia shouldn’t have waited so long to release it as “Snap” is just an ordinary song. Expections are always higher when internal selected songs are set to be released late.
I also like the video! It’s simple but poetic. I like the idea of the home sailing away as a metaphor for her breaking free of a troubled relationship. There’s an endearing charm that matches the folksy elements of the track. Rosa Linn comes across very nicely in it too.
I like it! I like the folk-country vibe. The song’s sounds, lyrics, storytelling and relationship theme all remind me of Alanis Morissette—from the first line “It’s 4am, I can’t turn my head off” to the use of the guitar and the stopping of the music before the last chorus. I do hear the Lumineers comparison too, in a good way. It’s inspired, but I’d say the song is an expansion of a genre rather than an imitation. There’s an unpretentious folksy charm that could play really nicely on stage. I think Armenia will safely qualify from SF1.
I think the woolly hat is what most reminds me of Alanis.
Although there are quite a few female slow moving songs/guitar country-esque ballads this year, I think this and Portugal’s song will stand out and do better than say Iceland’s at the very least.The fact that’s Armenia will draw in a lot of attention anyway. If she can pull of the vocals this will qualify.

I was checking and thinking if Sasha Jean Baptiste will be also in Turin this year – she always doing max 4 staging for one year, i think she might do Switzerland, Armenia, Sweden and Malta this year, however i was thinking about Bulgaria and Australia too + She did Mahmod in 2019 too but i am not sure if they will ask her again.

This is quite cute, which is a nice suprise for Armenia who usually prefers slick and energetic. It feels relaxing and personal. Could be a dark horse if that sweet vibe comes across on stage. I really like the music video too. The only issue might be that Croatia and Iceland are both trying to convey a similar pop-folk vibe with their songs in the same half of the first semi. Rosa should go for a mix of melancholic and heartwarming for the staging, to highlight how lovely the song is. Good luck!
