Italy doesn’t deserve to be in top 10. They haven’t been in any events, they boycote all events and to be the favorite in the odds’ is shame, I hope they wont be in top 5. I like Albania and Poland one of them has quality of winner
Neither did they last year and they won. The ESC is not about preparties, as much as we may love them and it is a good help for the eurofans to know the artists better. But, being realistic, Italy always brings top artist, already known in Italy and sometimes abroad, who have other commitments apart from Eurovision. It is normal that they cannot take part in europarties when they have other previous commitments.
I would actually prefer my country to bring a top artist that cannot attend these parties because they have concerts, for example.
It’s a pre-party, there nothing to rehearse. The point with them is simply to meet fans. Of course she will rehearse when it’s actual Eurovision time.
This may sound like I’m the most boring woman in the universe. But then it must be so. I liked Netta’s message and do not like when women become sexual objects. I love Spain’s song when I just listen to it and do not understand the words, and above all do not watch the video with latex which is nothing but objectification of women and a glorification of the sex industry. No, in Sweden I can say that a similar number would lead to scandal and would never be accepted at the melfest. Will my daughter grow up in a society that is permeated by… Read more »
Thanks for sharing that interesting perspective. I will further discuss the cultural connotations of Spain’s entry when the Wiwi Jury review’s Spain’s song. Similar for Albania’s entry. I don’t see them as polar opposites when it comes to empowerment, but I can see why others would find them jarring.
She better deliver in Turin. Swedes are still furious that Bagge didn’t win and there are still people that think that melfest result was rigged.
Ouch. I think Cornelia will be fine, but if Sweden really wants to send Bagge then they need to petition SVT to do so, and also compensate Cornelia somehow. Good luck.
which Swedes? She is the most streamed song and most played on radio. If you read YouTube comments you will also read proud comments.
Stop hanging out on Facebook groups and forums..
Poland and Albania the Best
Indeed they do deserve to go to the final, at least just because of that
these parties are a waste of money for fans. The sound is horrible, stage is tiny and looks like the stage of a high school auditorium and there’s nothing different in every preparty performance. I remember the London party which was probably the worst this year had tickets out for 60 pounds or something which is ridiculous.
It’s cool for the artists to meet other Eurovision artists and enjoy some support from ESC fans but other than that, it’s pointless.
If you don’t like it, don’t go. (Then they will stop, and you can organise your own bigger and better party.)
I’d agree with you regarding London (and yes Purple Mask, I no longer go to it for that reason), but the other parties are held in much bigger venues. Tel Aviv even looked like a proper Eurovision show. I hope London can get a similar site in the future.
I disagree and I’m happy that these parties exist. They give the artists a chance to promote themselves, give the fans content. The London Party was trash tho.
Krystian, I love you !!!
Lot of good singers there. We already knew that for some like Ochman who is the best vocalist this year but the surprise of the night for me is Jeremie from Belgium. He is very underrated and will receive good points from juries. It will be more difficult to convince the public but it’s always the same with Belgium. Except for Blanche in 2017, public gives less points than juries.
Singing over a recorded vocal track is just awful to the ears with the pitches differences. Another proof that ESC uses live pitch correctors.
I am always very impressed with how perfect Ronela and Ochman sound. They are definitely the most consistent singers this year, alongside Mia actually. I don’t like her song but I can’t deny she sounds amazing live. I think Armenia and Lithuania sound amazing live as well. I wonder what Monica will do on the Eurovision stage since her biggest charm is her stage presence. I feel sorry for Emma since she has such a consistently good voice and good fashion but she has such a generic forgettable song… I wonder why the vocalist of We are Domi always has… Read more »
I think they did improve their vocals cause we never heard them sound this perfectly synch. I was pleasantly surprised tbh.
King was only one: Ochman.
Amazing performance.
Dull performance tho
Was Ukraine’s vocalist hidden in a trash bag again, so the audience and journalist remain focused on the band leader only?
I don’t recall such lyrics. Did you mean the weather, the weatheeeeeeer?
What do you mean by improving? The song is great so it should qualify.
Vocals were weak.
Armenia has no access to the sea, they’re not sailing anywhere 🙂
He is very charismatic even with his eyes closed.
Salvador didn’t have interactions nor fireworks, he even went off the stage and still won with an average song. It’s all about personality and talent.
The Sobrals also played a very good game, such as getting the crowd to keep quiet. Not such if Ochman can swing that.
There were some good performances tonight. But who does fund the Pre-partyes? EBU or the single countries?
Don’t the people who buy tickets fund these parties?
If you’re asking about the artists’ attendance, like Nadir missing 5 or 6 previous parties, then I guess some broadcasters might have very limited budgets.
That pre party is a private one: sponsors and tickets.
I loved Alvanez’s performance. There were some issues with Alvan, but they seemed to have improved their coordination and harmony a lot. If they will create nice camera shots and polished performance they could bet both jury and televoting support and that could be nice news for them I guess.
Nadir is such a great singer. I wish he had a more compelling song. I’m afraid of — Sheldon, Krystian and him, only 2 can go thru.
The thing is Nadir has a better song than those two you have mentioned.
This song sounds like a Swedish production from a few years ago. Nothing special.
Not better than “River”.
My favourites from tonight were: Poland, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Sweden.
Nice to see so many good performances, and a great crowd. Thank you to the event organisers.
I’m from Sweden. Hmmm… Cornelia has to learn how to control her feelings when she id overwhelmed by the reaction of the public. It is clear that her voice are affected by her emotions when she meet the crowd. I hope the fans of Anders Bagge won’t have right in Turin. Some of them are still furious that she won, and if she doesn’t deliver in Turin. Well, I wouldn’t like to be Cornelia.
If Cornelia performed well at MelFest, it stands to reason that she should be fine for Eurovision. I think she’ll do very well, largely because her song is stand-out perfect in a year of “meh” songs.
I think when it’s time for competition Cornelia will get her act together. At these pre-parties there is no reason to hold back emotions when meeting the fans. Anders Bagge wouldn’t make it at all. His stagefright is not appealing and would most probobly make Sweden miss the final. At least Cornelia looks like she loves what she’s doing.
It’ s a pre- party, it is supposed to be casual. The point is to meet fans and artists. Not meant to be serious.
When it matters she knows how to perform
That live chat during Jamala’s performance for Ukraine was ABSOLUTELY OBNOXIOUS against Alina Pash. >:(
So horrible! Seeing comments like “hearing Alina Pash kills the dreams of my ears to live” in the chat made me furious. ?
So Jamala performed instead of Kalush and said something obnoxious about Alina?
I never said that Jamala said something bad about Alina, read my comment again.
BEST PERFORMANCES OF THE NIGHT BELONG TO THE FOLLOWING FOR ME: UK, SWEDEN, ICELAND. POLAND, ALBANIA, IRELAND AND GEORGIA!
I forgot Azerbaijan, Nadir left me with an incredibly positive first impression! <3
Go uk love sammy boy
“Hold Me Closer” is a very good song, perhaps perfect. Cornelia’s voice has delicateness and flaws; the combination of the song with her voice is very special. Lovely to see a big crowd reaction to her tonight.
Ronela burnt the stage omg the crowd was on fire as well
I still don’t get the Cousin Itt thing.
I do still get that it’s one of the best songs this year, and would be a good winner even without the war.
The what now?
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EzK1AV9VoAA5j0O?format=jpg&name=small
I seem to have forgotten how to put up a picture. Never mind.
Lateness, Saturday night and perhaps certain drinks would do that. (I also happen to be ill ATM.)
Cousin Itt is a character from The Addams Family. Half of Kalush Orchestra are dressed as him, at least to my eyes.
Get well soon.
Ohhh ok. Yeah, that does seem out of place.
She reminds me of an ex of mine. Very much has her own thing, great power.
Ochman is winning this, surely?
Juries, televote… we’ll find out soon.
He is the real winner already, whatever happens with the neighbour voting or faked results or bribery or corruption etc. Ochman is the obvious winner of Eurovision (and I admit it even though his entry is not my favourite).
Azerbaijan is a likely Jury winner. Poland will probably be TOP3 in the Televote.
Why does praise get 20+ downvotes? Please explain.
fanatics
did serbia get covid
Unfortunately yes. She said she has not washed her hands well enough…
OMG Switzerland is second in the semi-final predictions! I’dont wanna sound mean but how??
Give it a few says, they will drop but to 10th or something.
He’s already 9th.
Perhaps they put the results in reverse order, like the 2019 Belarus jury
Indeed, they are called Tanxugeiras. A Galician trio.
Did Ana get COVID?
I wish everyone well, but I’d rather the performers got it now than in three weeks.
Same.
Who is Ana?
Ana Bergendahl is a famous Swedish singer. She is well known for her participation in Melodifestivalen. Also ironically, her last name is Bergendahl and she was the first Eurovision artist to be Bergendahlised.
Ana ?uri? aka Konstrakta.
I think she wasn’t announced to perform live, like Andromache.
No, she was indeed. But she got ill, not COVID though, a flu. She did a video speaking Spanish explaining that she did not wash her hands often enough.
I know it’s late, but who are you on about. The Rasmus?
Well, I don’t know everything, obviously. 🙂
Were Bulgaria’s band around then? (Just kidding.)
What a beautiful piano arrangement for Cyprus’s song. Might be my favourite one for piano this season. Lovely voice too.
If Sam’s having vocal problems, he needs to just keep his mouth closed for the next month.
He won’t. 🙂
I hope he’s okay though.
The Brits have arrived, um, I mean Circus Mircus. Lol. That song sounds so British to me, I love it. 🙂
Oh, hello Sam. He has a Eurovision scar already? Gosh. Living it large.
Circus Mircus don’t really do a good job of staying anonymous.
Haha, maybe they need to borrow one of my masks.
Circus Mircus will be getting all of my 20 votes in SF2. BTW their sound was too low, we could barely hear them.
I’m so glad I watched this, I didn’t even mean to. Anabel Condé is so good. For a minute I was actually wondering if she was singing live. Of course, she was. Vuelve Conmigo is the best song not to have won.
I’d like to hear Chanel’s version of Vuelve Conmigo. I hear it’s very good.
WRS can’t sing live too well…but he’s a good performer so this might grant him a final spot. We’ll see.
Good to see Anabel again. Memories of 1995 are coming back. 🙂
My current standings (just based on preparty):
Rosa was phenomenal
Rosa Linn: I’ve not brought my backing track…
Everyone: You don’t need it.
Wow!
Rosa Linn, wow. Losing her backing track was the best thing that could have happened. What a voice.
P.S. It’s like being at the Junos! (Sooo Canadian. 😀 )
I wish
Me too
Subwoolfer were perfect of course : 3
Hmmm. I can’t help but wonder if they’re getting away with no live vocals.
They’re singing live…
I’m sure they are. I just wonder.
At certain angles you can see beneath the mask, they even have a hole made in it for the mouth and you can see it moving. They obviously sing live, the song isn’t THAT hard to perform so they always sound good… It’s that simple.
That’s a pleasant surprise from Nadir. Such an emotive voice! Could be a jury darling in Torino.
