This is the pop collaboration you’ve been waiting for! Lake Malawi and We Are Domi — our two favourite Czech bands — have collaborated on a new electro-pop track “High-Speed Kissing”.

Taking inspiration from the ’80s, “High Speed Kissing” is synth pop at its finest. The Eurovision 2019 and 2022 groups deliver a cool and sassy track with a modern spin that takes you straight to the dancefloor. Combining Dominika Hašková and Albert Černý’s vocals, this is a perfect fusion.

Lake Malawi & We Are Domi – “High-Speed Kissing”

Dominika and Albert’s chemistry is electric in the accompanying music video, which shows both bands strumming their instruments at the Eagles Prague Baseball stadium. It was directed by Ruy Okamura and draws inspiration from American teenage flicks. Remember A League of Their Own, Bears and For The Love Of The Game? “High-Speed Kissing” retains the essence of those classic films.

Speaking exclusively to wiwibloggs, Lake Malawi’s Albert Černy explains:

“I discovered We Are Domi during Covid. I fell in love with Dominika the moment I heard her voice. I reached out to them because I loved their music. One night I ended up jamming with them on acoustic guitars in their living room. Next, we played a gig together, and then they got invited to the same songwriting camp where we wrote ‘Friend Of A Friend’. Guess what happened there? Lights Off!

When Dominika recorded her vocals for ‘High-Speed Kissing’, we ordered a lot of pizza to the studio and Ben and Casper added a really nice final touch to the song with their keyboard and guitar parts.”

“High-Speed Kissing” is a collaboration of ideas. The track was written by Albert Cerny, Gabi Knoll and Esben Svane and co-produced by Jeroným Šubrt. It was made at the annual Songwriting Camp CZ organized by Jan Vávra.

When the song was written, it wasn’t clear who was going to sing the female part. The idea of collaborating with We Are Domi came gradually.

“I discovered Dominika and her band in a live video for ‘Come Get Lost’ and I fell in love with her voice. She has a very natural way of singing that speaks to me.”, explains Albert.

It occurred to Lake Malawi to offer the song to We Are Domi later, “I had the song ready for ages but I was looking for the right singer to do it with. And when We Are Domi won the Czech Eurovision finals, it clicked. Benjamin Rekstad and Casper Hatlestad added their respective keyboard and guitar parts to the song when the vocals were done.”

What do you think of Lake Malawi and We Are Domi’s “High-Speed Kissing”? Which other Eurovision acts do you want to see collaborate?

Ehm, what?
“I discovered We Are Domi during Covid. …, and then they got invited to the same songwriting camp where we wrote ‘Friend Of A Friend’.
But Friend of a friend was performed before covid… So unless he travels with Dr Who , there might be a typo ?

I suppose he means he has written Friend of a Friend in a previous edition of the songwriting camp.

I think this song would do really well in the contest, if it was our entry. I have this song on repeat since yesterday and I think their voices match amazingly together.
