Rehearsals for Semi-Final 1 of Eurovision 2022 start on Saturday. Ahead of that, it’s time to find out our readers’ pre-rehearsal favourites.

On April 15 we asked you guys to vote for the acts you expect to vie for the win in Semi-Final 1 and the results are in. After counting nearly 15,000 votes, we can now reveal that Dutch star S10 is our readers’ favourite.

S10’s song “De Diepte” builds on the singer’s troubled past — and, more importantly, her ability to overcome it. Singing from the heart and sharing her truth, she takes the listener on a real journey. It’s one that our readers think will lead straight to the grand final.

In second place we have Greece’s Amanda Tenfjord. The “Die Together” singer hasn’t attended any pre-parties, so we don’t yet have a true taste of how she’ll perform this live. But we know from her pre-existing performances that she has what it takes to deliver. Our readers clearly agree, ranking her ahead of several fan favourites.

In third position we have Albanian queen Ronela Hajati. As I’ve hinted all week, she’s ready to unleash an earthquake with her fierce choreography and some very daring staging that will almost certainly court headlines at home and abroad. Will revealing her “Sekret” endear her to fans even more? I have a feeling the answer is yes.

You can see the full results of our Semi-Final 1 poll below.

1. Netherlands S10 “De diepte”: 15.76%, 2,363 votes

2. Greece: Amanda Georgiadi Tenfjord “Die Together”: 12.44%, 1,866

3. Albania: Ronela Hajati “Sekret”: 10.34%, 1,551 votes

4. Norway: Subwoolfer “Give That Wolf a Banana”: 9.16%, 1,373 votes

5. Ukraine: Kalush Orchestra “Stefania”: 8.47%, 1,270 votes

6. Portugal: Maro “Saudade, saudade”: 7.76%, 1,164 votes

7. Lithuania: Monika Liu “Sentimentai”: 5.95%, 892 votes

8. Austria: Lumix feat. Pia Maria “Halo”: 5.44%, 816 votes

9. Armenia: Rosa Linn “Snap”: 5.00%, 750 votes

10. Bulgaria: Intelligent Music Project “Intention”: 3.20%, 480 votes

11. Iceland: Systur “Með hækkandi sól”: 3.07%, 461 votes

12. Slovenia: LPS “Disko”: 2.97%, 446 votes

13. Croatia: Mia Dimšić “Guilty Pleasure”: 2.73%, 409 votes

14. Moldova: Zdob și Zdub and Frații Advahov “Trenulețul”: 2.31%, 347 votes

15. Latvia: Citi Zēni “Eat Your Salad”: 2.26%, 339 votes

16. Denmark: Reddi “The Show”: 1.58%, 237 votes

17. Switzerland: Marius Bear “Boys Do Cry”: 1.55%, 233 votes

I had first felt jarred when I read that they won (I wanted Luma to win), but their song grew on me and the fact that they had also been on EMA Fres gave it a plus, also taking into account what you mention, I developed a soft spot for them 🙂

There are many great songs in Turin 2022, but I don’t know why De Diepte has nested in my heart. There is something, the song has “something” and I couldn’t explain it in words. The song is a bit melancholic but it leaves a trail of hope, of gratitude towards life. You listen to this song but when it finished you’re not sad but with a small flame in your soul. It’s something peculiar and magic at the same time, and that is the uniqueness of this entry. Besides, many people have commented on the video, especially when the man… Read more »

For me personally is “De diepte” almost on the same high level just like “Voila” and “Amar pelos dois” and I love the dutch language.

Strangely a lot of people here seem to think that De Diepte is a jury song, when everything points to the contrary: it’s way more popular with the fans than with the juries, so far. And it has the third most streams of any song in this year’s Eurovision.

Here is my prediction: Semi Final 1 Albania – 6 – firecracker start, will do sufficiently well with both juries and televote Latvia – NQ – poor placement for televote, juries won’t go for it Lithuania -NQ – good score from jury, will get forgotten by televote Switzerland – 8 – high score from jury, will get enough from televote as memorably slow in first half Slovenia – ok score from jury, will not attract enough televote Ukraine – 1 – strong scores from both jury and televote Bulgaria – NQ – will do better with both jury and televote… Read more »

I might add that all of the above is based on a guess as to what the staging will look like and how the live will go.

If we consider that part of the voting for Bulgaria probably had a troll component behind it, this list of qualifiers with Iceland getting their spot would make me very satisfied. Personally, I would replace Austria with Croatia or Slovenia, but all my priorities would be fulfilled.

I think Netherlands will not do well with the public and won’t come first with juries.I think juries will go for Armenia, Greece, Ukraine and Portugal.

Norway or Ukraine will win the televoting

I don’t think Norway will do that well, everybody here seems to love it but it’s got a mixed reception elsewhere :/

I sense there could a touch of Conrad Osiris in how Norway could fare.

I think that it’s Serbia that is the new Conan Osiris – super artistic, loved by fans and completely misunderstood by casual viewers and judges.

Possibly Serbia too, I think it would be a better betting market to bet on the odds of the BBC having a technical problem at the point of reference to Meghan Markle

My prediction will be:
1st Ukraine
2nd/3rd The Netherlands
2nd/3rd Norway
4th – 6th Greece
4th – 6th Latvia
4th – 6th Armenia
7th – 10th Albania
7th – 10th Lithuania
7th – 10th Austria
7th – 10th Denmark
11th/12th Switzerland/Moldova (almost make to final and switchable with 7th – 10th)
And then the rest is NQ

I’m really surprised this is getting a lot of downvotes, I actually think it’s not far off what will happen. There is only Latvia that I would disagree with as I think it will come to early for the needed televote support. A lot of good songs are going to miss out, maybe that is what is attracting the downvotes?

If Bulgaria ends up making it to the final (or at least isn’t dead last in the semi), it’ll be a big bruh moment XD
Btw, De Diepte is my favorite entry of this semi and Norway’s being too overrated here (it’s got a mixed reception elsewhere and juries aren’t gonna love them)

The Holland song is my fav, but the truth is that she has some issues with her vocals…especially with the high ones. Borderline top10 in odds could be explained from this fact.

The Greek song is my fav too. I’m not sure about her passion and expression movenents on stage. Vocally she is perfect.

Well deserved places.

Albania’s third in this poll, but a lot of y’all were hating on it under it’s Wiwi-jury post. Makes you think whether some of y’all are negative for the sake of being negative…

It used to be a running joke that all Wiwi polls were going to be won by Albania. “Fall From The Sky” even kept winning “Who Should Win Eurovision 2020” polls.
You can’t say Albanians don’t support their own acts on these things. :3
