The annual Eurovision prediction poll comes to an end today, and we finally have a result. The winner of the OGAE Poll 2022 is Sweden with “Cornelia Jakobs.”
The news comes after counting the votes of the remaining clubs – Sweden, North Macedonia, Australia, Hungary, Estonia, Belgium, Lithuania, Germany’s Eurovision Song Contest Fanclub, Austria, Russia, Luxembourg, Ireland, Finland and the latest, Ukraine.
The artist behind “Hold Me Closer”, who is among the favourites to win Eurovision, picked up 393 votes across 43 voting clubs and gave the country its fourth OGAE Poll win.
In second place are Italy’s “Mahmood and Blanco”. An early poll leader, the Italian duo missed out on victory by just 7 points. In total, Italy received 387 votes to secure the silver medal.
Spain’s Chanel rounds out the podium. The artist that goes “booty hypnotic” with her hit “SloMo” managed an impressive 294 points to give Spain the best result in the OGAE Poll ever since it started back in 2007.
Rounding up the top 5 are The Netherlands’ S10 with 218 points and United Kingdom’s Sam Ryder who picked 204 votes.
Sweden wins the OGAE Poll 2022
Sweden’s Cornelia Jakobs has conquered the OGAE Poll 2022 and the heart of 4,438 voters after a month of suspense. In the end, and just like last year, it was an extremely close battle between Sweden and Italy. In fact, Italy led the poll almost halfway through the competition before Sweden started obtaining top scores one after the other. The last votes from Ukraine were decisive, as Sweden and Italy were just 5 points away from each other.
At the other end of the leaderboard, twelve countries finished with zero points: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Denmark, Georgia, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Montenegro, North Macedonia, San Marino and Slovenia.

What do you make of the OGAE poll results? Let us know in the comments below!
Greece 15th? Are they high over there?
Sweden are going to flop by televote so much…
Cornelia’s song is really good, but as the song progresses her voice makes me more and more uncomfortable for some reason. On the other hand, while I like UK’s singer due to his marvelous voice, the song itself does not resonate with me at all. I cannot see it winning the show whatsoever. When it comes to the French entry, I love its studio cut, but the live performance is a mess (vocals aren’t stable either.) All in all, I would push Serbia, Albania, and Greece much higher on the scoreboard because these songs breathe authenticity and bring diversity to… Read more »
I see Cornelia’s and Chanel’s faces in ESC specialized sites, instagrams and blogs almost more than my own. Are they paying for all this promotion?
Armenia 0 points? what are y’all on?
I like Liamoo’s song so much more, this is so boring
No stop it, you give me a headache as a swede. You guys have always complained about our pretty boys with pop songs. We will slay this year.
This is the most unrealistic top 10 ever. I hope an outsider pops up out of nowhere and grabs the trophy.
Belgium 2 points? Portugal 9? Bahahaha are you joking????
Greece 15th ??? LMAO
sad to see armenia end with no points. i love their entry and rosa linn, i think armenia could realistically get to the top 15
France 6th in 2022 and 3rd in 2021. It’s the only country to be in the top 6 two following years.
3 countries are in the top 10 in 2021 and in 2022 : France, Sweden and Italy.
Booooring…
2015 once again – Italy vs Sweden 🙁
Ohh it kills me – i found right song at the right place … 😉
Thoughts on the OGAE Top 5: Sweden: Not surprised in the slightest as there is a bit of a unfair bias to the Swedish entries when it comes to this poll but, still “Hold Me Closer” is still a solid entry but, will fall into the category of John Lundvik, Firm Jury Favourite but, underperforms with the televote. Ending Result: Top 10. Italy: Again like Sweden not surprised to see Italy this high up but, more so annoyed by the fact it is so high, I find “Brividi” to be a bit of a nothing song that does nothing but… Read more »
Why with all the downvotes???
Because you called Ireland 2018 a much better song than Brividi. Are we actually listening to the same stuff?
Yeah, I did call Ireland 2018 a better song only because it wasn’t a blatant LGBT vote grab unlike Brividi
I can’t deny there might be an element of that to it as well, but I’m a straight guy and I still think the song itself is easily one of the best of the year, regardless of anything else.
Ukraine missing top 10 is quite notable comparing with current odds and personally I don’t mind that at all
I don’t believe Ukraine will win – the bookies are probably laughing.
Juries historically don’t like rap, it will probably have too much work to do after the jury vote.
Since the voting split after the jury voting: 2016 Ukraine were 2nd 2017 Portugal won the jury vote 2018 Israel was 3rd 2019 Netherlands was 3rd and 2021 Italy was 4th.
Juries don’t do sentimentality either and I’m struggling to see the juries overall placing Ukraine in the top 5.
My biggest takeaway from this is Armenia 0 points? It’s not exactly a song you give your 12, 10 or 8 to, but 0 between every fan club? Wow.
I thought it might win 🙁
I do think they can win ESC by having the best balance of jury/public vote. But ultimately, I get that feeling that the televoting won’t be too generous to Sweden. Still top 5 material.
I think from Top 10, Albania and Austria will flop in the final (if Austria qualifies to the final).
Yup
Austria might be fine with whatever result they get as long as they make it to the final, it’s been 4-5 years since the last time they made it to the final
With the OGAE votes in mind, I think Spain may have a huge chance of winning.
OGAE vote similar to the juries, so I’m shocked Spain did so well. The only comparable act to Chanel is Eleni, and OGAE placed her at 9th in 2018. The fact Chanel placed 3rd with OGAE is huge and exciting.
They vote similarly because ogae is influenced by the odds and the juries tend not to punish the bookies’ faves too harshly, if they don’t have major jury appeal.
I guess people forgot that Chanel won due to the juries in spain, not the televote nor the demoscopic vote. People are really not getting what juries consist of, its not all “graduated music connoisseurs”, there’s producers/entertainers/radio people etc. I would not be surprised with a top 3 jury finish for Spain considering the commercial quality of the performance and the song.
I don’t think we should relate Spanish jury at their national selection with the juries at Eurovision. Spain may finish top 3 at the televote, but jury… I don’t know – we all agree that the performance is beyond good, but SloMo is far cry from a quality song.
If Toy in 2018 could’ve come third with the juries I have no doubt Spain could be top 3 in juries
I hope that the actual voting won’t be this predictable and favoring just a few songs.
Really… ? Even if it absolutely have nothing to say when it comes to winning the Eurovision I consider it to be a great honor for ant artist to be chosen as best by the diehard fans. People who love Eurovision. Your comment is an insult to a lot of happy
fans that truly has taken their time to listen through all these songs.
ignore him. He writes negative comments about mostly Cornelia
Top 10 is very decent.
Cornelia deserves it. For all the haters here – seethe.
Sweden, Italy, Spain, Netherlands and UK are all really strong contenders this year so this is an unsurprising result, though interesting to see, and the OGAE’s top five seem pretty likely to end up in the Top 10 on 14 May. That would be stunning for Spain and the UK. From what I can see, the OGAE Poll Top 3 relatively consistently identifies songs that place first, second or third in the GF – and where they haven’t identified the eventual winner as first in their poll, they’ve usually gone for a song/artist that most fans/televoters also generally supported (Il… Read more »
No, this yer we are not. But since 2015 til today I agree. Sweden will do good this year. Top 5.
Sweden and Italy are the only songs getting points from every country and the only songs having wide appeal? Could that mean sucess for the actual contest?
Yes I know it’s only fans voting but fans are still an important part of the show and they do vote in ESC. So if OGAE can get entries extra attention there is no harm in that, although the artists themselves probably don’t care about it..
Sweden did not get any points from Russia…
And Russia will not have a vote in ESC either:)
As the winner of this “poll” never wins, it is good to know that that overrated Nordic trash pop will not win. Perfect!
Since 2007- 5 OGAE winners won the contest.
The closest one they have got top 3 right was 2019 (Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands) and the one they got really wrong was 2011 (Hungary, France, UK incidentally these three were high in the betting that year, none of them were top 10) Azerbaijan placed 6th.
Last year they failed to get the winner in the top half dozen (Italy placed 8th in the poll and they plunged in betting during rehearsals though they had been in the top 6 in betting before rehearsals began too).
So, this is how the real scoreboard won’t look in the Grand final? 😀 Ok. This ogae organization always give totally wrong results (compared to the later real scorboard) so at least now we know who won’t win lol
Congratulations to Cornelia! Spain at #3 feels surreal. As things are right now if Chanel makes the top 10 she will get crowds at the airport when back in Spain. If she comes top 3 she’s probably getting a Royal Reception, lol.
Looking forward to seeing Chanel do Spain pround 🙂
The usual Sweden overrating.
The fact that the points are so top-heavy once again shows that the type of fans who make up Ogae groups tend to either all have very similar tastes or don’t really think for themselves.
Lithuania and Portugal not getting more points is just weird.
They just follow the hype, betting odds, bloggers etc and all of that before actual rehearsals and performances. That’s why they are wrong more often than not.
I wouldn’t mind Sweden winning the contest this year, at all. They brought back their authenticity and Cornelia’s ballad is a masterpiece.
HOWEVER! This total OGAE top-3 was massively overrated compared to the rest of the competition, it literally didn’t have ANY OTHER competition! Bias and lack of individual mindset originality played a big role here. And other great songs like Lithuania, Portugal and Iceland were left unnoticed. Big flaws once again from this “Eurofans” organization.
This OGAE thing, organization, or whatever it is still exist in 2022?
4 countries of the big 5 in the top 6 is very interesting
As I’m from Germany, I’d go with utterly frustrating 😀
As someone mentioned before.. it’s become a kiss of death to win the Ogae. I almost wish Cornelia came 2nd 😀
Hmm. Getting 2 in OGAE is even worse because they never win. At least more people have won both OGAE and ESC. Don’t worry, she will do fine!
I hope so.
In 2015 Sweden won ESC with the 2nd place in OGAE ?
Yes, the only country to do so. Compared with 4 OGAE winners who also won ESC
Slovenia robbed.
get that ogay curse, sweden ! <3
Albania 8th ???
9th* and my emojies are not displaying lol 😀
Is it me or is it satisfying seeing Spain and the UK getting love this year?
it must also be satisfying for spanish and british fans to be represented by great songs for the first time in a while. the love is deserved !
The Space Man isn’t “great song for the first time in a while”
Germany’s most likely not going to be accompanied by their usual suspects at the bottom of the scoreboard this year
As a Spanish person it feels extremely weird, I’d rather keep expectations under control just in case.
