Latvia Citi Zeni Eat Your Salad Eurovision 2022 first rehearsal
EBU / Nathan Reinds

Latvia’s Citi Zeni have had their first rehearsal at Eurovision 2022. The eco-warriors rehearsed “Eat Your Salad” on stage at Turin’s PalaOlimpico for the first time ahead of the big show later this month. Did they have us all aboard the green Titanic, or were we jumping ship? Let’s find out…

Meow! Citi Zeni are delivering pure joy in their first rehearsal. Taking a leaf from Pollapönk’s book, the boys are dressed in monochrome suits of various colours. Frontman and rapper Krišjānis is dressed head to toe in emerald green, with huge chunky Cuban heels and his signature sunglasses to accessorise. Eurovision insiders say the band’s graphics is akin to a continental breakfast fruit buffet. Cat lovers may be disappointed however, as the six-piece have omitted “pussy” from the first song’s first line in compliance with Eurovision rules. The audience should help them out, so long as we don’t see the revival of the anti-booing technology from Eurovision 2015 in Vienna. Nevertheless, they’re bringing the fun, and this will surely be a delight to watch live.

William: I think Latvia’s colours work really well on the stage. I love how their suits seem extra bright, they really pop. The energy was there, I love the splits, this was dynamic. Maybe this could sneak through?

Jonathan: This didn’t need any changes from the national final, it’s fun, funky, flavoursome. The colours pop which is exactly what we need. Their personalities are stillshining through. They say they’ll qualify, I agree.

I dont see it qualifying. Out of the two ”joke entries” Norway is by far superior.

They will shine after Albania, this is easily qualifying as per Iceland 2014. In the final it will be mid-table.

I love that they kept their original outfits and I also love that the green suit of the lead singer is even brighter! Lighting could use some work (I’ve only seen purple in every photo posted so far) but I’m keeping my positivity about them. Does anyobdy onow if the Italians have installed a green screen on their stage this year? Because if it’s absent, that would be so interesting to see how it works, Portugal did a spectacular job back in 2018 with the same feature missing!
