Moldova’s Zdob şi Zdub & Advahov Brothers “Trenuletul” — Eurovision 2022 first rehearsal

@eurovision HEY, HO! LET’S GO! 🚂 Moldova’s @Zdob si Zdub bringing the party! 🇲🇩 #Eurovision2022 #EurovisionTikTok #Eurovision ♬ original sound – Eurovision

Hey, ho! Let’s go! Zdob si Zdub are back on the Eurovision stage for the first time, and their unique brand of whacky has been sorely missed. Together with the Advahov Brothers, they’re channeling The Ramones with this suped-up rock and roll version of “Trenuletul”. It’s been performed on Moldovan TV once before, but hearing a snippet of the new studio cut in its full glory gives us a better taste of what to expect for Eurovision. The violinist and accordionist are kitted out in black and white leisure suits, while the frontman is wearing red and blue. The lighting, once again, is purple. It’s chaos personified, but the exact kind of chaos we love. Qualification as of right now is hard to predict, but this will go down a treat in the semi-final.

Moldova said in their press conference that they will add more to their staging and that they want to have a real train on stage.

Are all the Wiwi comments based only on TikTok video? If yes, how can we/they know how the performances look like??

I still think Moldova will qualify but I’m less sure now. The new version of the song is a big downgrade for me and the staging is shockingly not that interesting? Especially coming after Latvia. I feel Latvia has a stronger chance to qualify here actually, but ATM I still feel both will make it.

People ruling out Moldova just never learn, do they? Bet you anything they were saying the same thing the last two times ZSZ competed, that it was too goofy to go anywhere. You underestimate the power of Moldova. This is going to seriously stick out just based on the pictures (which, combined with the song and their proven skills as a live act, is all I’m basing this on).

They’ve also got Portugal, France, Italy (although between Albania, Ukraine, and Moldova, their 12 might not be obvious), and Ukraine all voting, plus some not-givens that I could easily see voting for it as well like Armenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia. Moldova can read the televote like a book.

Personally I liked their previous two entries, but I don’t like this one. Obviously my opinion alone will not determine their success this year.
