Ireland's Brooke That's Rich The Late Late Show Farewell Performance

Her Eurovision journey began there in February. So, it was only fitting that Ireland’s Brooke gave her last TV performance before Turin in the The Late Late Show studio, the site of her Eurosong victory. The Derry native joined host Ryan Tubridy on Friday night for a quick chat before taking to the stage to perform “That’s Rich”.

Ireland’s Brooke sings “That’s Rich” on The Late Late Show

We’ve known for some time that Ms Scullion isn’t afraid to mix things up when it comes to staging. For Eurosong she performed in a set of Primark’s finest pyjamas, while throughout the pre-party circuit she adopted a clubbier look with a mini skirt and high boots.

This time she opted for a shimmering silver dress. Also gone were her money gun and duo of backing dancers. In their place, we got a live band and a floor full of balloons. The most bizarre addition was possibly the quartet of deconstructed mannequins perched inside giant frames. The artistic creations featured bouquets of flowers where their upper bodies would typically be.

After the show, Brooke wrote on Instagram: “Stripped it back now I’m ready for the big stage @eurovision 🔥 Italy, here I come 🇮🇹 🇮🇪”

What did you think of the Late Late Show performance? Do you want to see something similar in Turin? Let us know down below.

Brooke has been representing Ireland so well, think it’s looking promising that she’ll finally bring us back into the finals! Obviously a more pared back performance for the Late Late. Vocals sounding great!

Bottom dollar is that this is arguably one of the worst eurovision entries ever. A ghastly song, poorly performed. Zero chance of getting past the semis.

I thought Sarah McTernan 3 years ago was bad, but this is far worse and yet there clowns here who thinks shes a talented star. She doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell of getting out of the semis.

Doubtful. She is awful. Her inage is hideous and her “singing” ( loosely termed) is even worse

Have lost sense of fun that was there when she originally won I hope Eurovision performance is better than this as I really like the song and I think it’s very catchy

Im Irish, this is very poor I’m sorry. What the hell was this? Vocally yes she’s a lot better but she’s standing still with nothing going on around her… where’s that cheeky fun vibe from the national final? This performance highlights how mid tempo this song is. I’m rooting for Brooke the staging and her connection with the camera needs to be on point for a chance to make the final

I’m also Irish. We’ve no idea if this staging is anything got to do with her performance in Turin, it’s actually probably not because Brooke has posted a picture of four dancers in her rehearsals. I do think she’s quite focused and she has mentioned in previous interviews that the staging will be focused, purposeful and won’t be messy, so fingers crossed it’ll be good :).

This was miles better vocally, don’t know what everyone else was listening to. I have more confidence now for Thursday.

This just goes from bad to worse. The Late Late is renowned for its dreadful musical staging & sound so I’ll park that to one side for now. But the singer has zero energy and doesn’t own the stage – not a CM of it, she looks cheap, trashy, fake tanned and about to hit Coppers, struggles with many notes and, sadly, this is doomed to come last in its semi. Again for us. There is so little memorable about the song to save it. At least TG4 put a bit of effort into JESC. Shame on RTÉ but sure… Read more »

I’m downgrading my comments from earlier after watching it again, she’s cheap and trashy in the extreme, there’s a bang of the halting site off her (only an Irish person will understand this). I’m shocked that the team on this site rated her 10th from the 40, makes me wonder if they know their backsides from a hole in the ground.

Yeah an Irish person will understand how borderline racist this comment is.

If I said there was a bang of council estate off her would that be more palatable for your delicate sensibilities?

In the National contest Brooke’s performance was sassy and fun and fresh. Her attitude and energy shone through. Now the whole act has been modified to make it much more ordinary and conventional ??

I personally think she wasn’t really giving it her all last night saving herself for rehearsals

The vocals have regressed since her National Finals win having gone back and compared. The guitarists look out of place and static and low energy. The balloons were bad. I really hope this isn’t the staging at Eurovision and I really hope she’s just saving her voice.

Totally agree no energy at all. At one point even picking up a balloon…The guitarists made 0 sense… I’m getting Sarah Mcternan vibes from this. Mid tempo , no life no energy. Im rooting hard from Brooke it’s just incredible RTE does it again!!

This look with the energy of her previous performances would be great.

That was a more subdued performance with less energy… and the vocals still weren’t all that. I don’t really have much faith at this point.

It looked a lot better than the night she won but there was a lot wrong, not sure about the dancers being switched for “guitarists” Brooke herself did seem one bit relaxed or spontaneous, there was very little energy in her performance.
