Lithuania’s Monika Liu has taken to the PalaOlimpico stage in Turin today for Eurovision 2022 second rehearsals. We got our first real look at “Sentimentai” through the eyes of the audience. What did we think? Scroll on to find out…
Lithuania’s Monika Liu “Sentimentai” — Eurovision 2022 second rehearsal
Padraig:Â Monika brought elegance and chic to this morning’s first rehearsal, as was to be expected. The vibe was very much in keeping with her performance in Lithuania’s national final, just elevated for the bigger stage. Liu looked fabulous in her glittering gown, which sparkled like a small galaxy of stars on camera. While she stays in the same spot for much of the run-through, Monika keeps things dynamic by interacting directly with the camera. Her vocals are, of course, effortless, evoking the sound and atmosphere of a cabaret club from decades ago.
William: Monika is her staging. That gorgeous sparkling dress functions like a disco ball — it reflects light and gives the stage a visual centrepiece. The LED floor — most often black with white geometric lines — is the perfect counterpoint to vast black expanse. The non-moving kinetic sun gives off white lights, which makes it look like it was meant to be there all along.Â

Sorry but this is a very bad camera work for this song. And blowing a kiss in the wind seems really cheap and dated.
The camera work is brilliant and the kiss is a cheery on a top.
I really hope this qualifies. Deserves a place in the final.
Despite what bookies would say, this is one of of the few entries I’m proud my country sent. Anyways, if I wouldn’t know they had bigger plans, I would say Monika Liu and her team nailed the staging for the theme perfectly. Still outrageous about the whole lack of testing for the stage prior to the event, but at last I will be able to take it easy on my vacation to Greece because I will know Monika Liu will deliver quality nevertheless.
Lithuania used to be the least interesting Baltic in ESC, but you’ve really turned things around after coming across The Roop, three great entries in a row and Monika not even qualifying would be criminal…
I have to say, lithuania made lemonade out of a potential lemon With the stage situation. You never would guess that this wasn’t their original plan, Because it all works together so well. The dark side of the arches with those lights matches the sparkles on her dress. This is probably one of the best Pivots Regarding the sun.
I was pretty worried about Lithuania after the first rehearsal, but fortunately they were able to overcome the whole situation! Kaunas 2023? 😀
i Wouldn’t get your hopes high up about lithuania winning When it’s still not complete certain if they are gonna even qualify, but I can only wish them the best of luck and I am pleased to see they worked out something On the fly.
The horrible stage will favor the countries that will manage to tame it. Lithuania is one of them.
Lithuania falls with the bookies
It was never that high in the odds anyway, but things can change.
This song has been in and out of my top 10.
There is something so captivating about the singer.
This is the first song where I feel the broken staging works well. I hope she qualifies.
Good luck Lithuania from me in the UK.
Dunno if I’ve said it before, but Monika is the first person I’ve ever seen who looks good with a bowl cut ^^’
I think it’s going to be super obvious who wanted to use the led side and who wanted to use the dark side. Looks like Lithuania always wanted to use this side of the sun, so it works perfectly and looks wonderful.
That’s actually not true, Lithuania wanted to use the led side.
If that’s the case, they’re absolutely out of their minds. A song with dark backgrounds (we can see how they were just animated lines and Monika dancing), a singer with a sparkling outfit, and they didn’t consider using the side that can enhance that? What were they thinking?
Lithuania intended to use the sun, sadly. They managed to patch up the problems with more lighting and the result is quite nice.
They really did a good job pivoting with the situation. It looks like it was always planned from the start even though it wasn’t their original plan.
The only performance so far that made that ugly stage work. Queen.
Only Monika Liu can make that ugly sun work.
They made that ugly stage work. Looks pretty.
Video is up and it looks *really* good.
This is not classy. Everything is just oldfashioned, haircut, dress and in particular the song. We will not see it on Saturday.
You are missing the point here
She gives me high school mathematics professor vibes 🙂
Yes, Monika indeed is a smart woman!
I love her song , it ‘ s still one of my favorites
The legend that is Monika Liu.
