Slovenia LPS Disko Eurovision 2022
EBU / Andres Putting

Who’s hungry? Slovenia’s LPS — also known as Last Pizza Slice — have taken to the stage in Turin for Eurovision 2022 second rehearsals. They performed another run-through of “Disko” ahead of next week’s live shows. What’s changed since first rehearsals? Let’s find out…

Slovenia’s LPS “Disko” — Eurovision 2022 second rehearsals

Padraig: Officially, LPS stands for Last Pizza Slice, but it may as well be Lost Prom Singers. Because that’s very much the energy that Slovenia is bringing to Turin. The boys look very much like they should be performing at a high school disco rather than on one of the world’s biggest stages. They have a giant glitterball, which does nothing of note. Arguably, it’s more of a hindrance, as for the close-up shots it causes all the lights to refract directly into the singer’s face, blocking our view of him completely. There is an abundance of wide-angle shots, suggesting that there may have been something notable planned for the malfunctioning LEDs. But, as of now, the shots only emphasise the lack of dynamism in the overall performance. Unless something changes dramatically, this number will not be progressing on to Saturday’s show.

Non qualifier , its fine and good as a song. But this is not going to exceed 15th place in the Semi

It’s not really one of my favorite songs, but I admit I do like that 360° shot done with the disco ball showing off all the members. That was really cool.

They give me this high school-prom-vibe that I quite enjoy 🙂

They will probably avoid last place in the semi. That’s an achievement for sure.

This is cute, and the disco ball is a nice touch. I have no idea why it’s so low in the betting odds. It might sneak in as a borderline, maybe. Good luck, Slovenia!

Lead singer Filip dressed in purple wins my “outfit of the year” award so far. He’s so beautiful. (Dreams…)

I’m awake now! Yeah, it’s a rather awkward entry all round. I agree with Padraig on most points here. An actual visual story might help it along, but the black arch has seemingly ended that aspiration. Frustrating.

Has anyone got the dynamite yet? 😛
It is what it is: non functional. This doesn’t mean we can’t have a good Eurovision. And if you really want to blow it up… okay, i’ll stop

They are still cute, but not so sure about their chances anymore.

Really liked the rehearsal clip. Looks like they’re interacting with the camera a lot more than they were in the NF. I also think the disco ball works better than expected.
I’d still like juries to support this and put it through!

I’ve once read that at EMA they were told to just stand there without moving.

Seeing LPS on the stage in Turin, I can’t help but find their amateurish nerdy quality endearing. They have a plucky spirit that might charm the juries and public. They are underdogs but I think they’re also slightly underrated. I’d put in the mix to claim that 10th spot to the GF, I think they might just qualify.

If anything, I think they should lean in a bit more to their dorky, nerdy vibe and have fun with it. They could make it less shy and more cute.

Yeah it’s SUPPOSED to be ‘bad’ and ‘dull’. Dull in the captivating Zoomer way. And I can relate to that being autistic.

Well, that’s what you get. Slovenia could send July Jones or LUMA and finish Top 10, but the “expert juries” were like nooo, let’s send a high school band which was formed literally 6 months ago with a bland 70’s retro song. They don’t move an inch on stage, so let’s put a big disco ball for distraction. I’m sorry, but I’m still salty from the crazy sh*tshow called EMA 2022.

LPS was formed in December 2018, your argument is invalid

Oh, it’s an absolute SHAME that this absolutely fantastic and of great quality entry won’t manage to qualify. The staging is very nice too, if only a miracle could happen… 🙁
