It’s day two of Eurovision 2022 second rehearsals and the sixth day of rehearsals overall. Today, we’ll get a proper look at how the last three countries from semi-final one and the first seven countries from semi two decided to stage their entries. Up first today were Iceland’s Systur with “Með hækkandi sól”. How have things changed since their first rehearsal? Let’s find out…
Iceland’s Systur”Með hækkandi sól” — Eurovision 2022 second rehearsal
Padraig: We start off the day gently with the three Icelandic sisters who appear to have arrived in Turin after a pitstop in Nashville. As always, the sibling trio deliver some absolutely delicious harmonies. They look great in their cowgirl meets glam rocker outfits and they have their side-step and guitar strumming routine down to a T. It’s all very pretty and sweet… and, truth be told, a little dull. Eurovision performances require peaks and valleys to keep our attention. Whereas this is simply a bit flat.
Luis: Iceland comes with a beautifully crafted performance, similar to that at Söngvakeppnin. Systur are one of the acts least bothered by the Sun malfunction. It disappears into a sea of warm lights. The main action on the LED happens on the floor, which looks like sparkles. Sigga, Betta and Elín perform in a very similar way to the one we already saw in Iceland and the camera work is practically identical. If it already worked, why change it?

it is very lovely
Gorgeous my top 5
This might be the most dangerous entry of stealing jury votes from Portugal and Netherlands. There’s definitely overlap in the three entries and this feels the weakest but never underestimate the power of seeing real musicians onstage with the jury. Just look at Hooverphonic and The Black Mamba last year.
I want them to qualify so bad
So dreamy. Please let this qualify.
This has grown on me more than almost any other song – I find myself listening to this almost every day, it’s such a beautiful, serious, poetic composition.
I really hope enough people will see the magic in this, although I am worried that there are three beautiful, introverted, dark-ish female songs I love in the semi (NL & PT) and to be honest I’d be sad to lose any of them.
Quality entry
Latvia 2019, literally.
let’s hope it doesn’t end up as underrated as latvia 2019
I thought the exact same thing! Carousel’s entry not making the final was atravesty. It’s one of the 2019 entries I still listen to regularly.
This definitely deserves a place in the final 🙂
They’ve done absolutely nothing wrong in this rehearsal and it is an excellent staging concept that really suits the song. It really does come down to how people feel about this song. It’s pleasant but the structure is a bit linear and there is a lack of progression. I don’t think this’ll do as well with the juries as people seem to think.
I’d have it qualifying (personal taste) but I’m not sure that it will.
Reeeeally happy with everything here. Go girls go!
Beautiful song !! They receive a place in the final, I wil vote for them.
Magical! I like it, it’s different. Texas blended with Iceland, and the 3 sisters nail it. Vocally on-point, simple but catchy staging. They should qualify. I felt that from the very first moment, hope it happens. Afram Island!
Serene, wonderfully harmonious, peacefully enchanting, musically impeccable not even all the adjectives existing in the world can describe how perfect this phenomenal cultural gem is. For me, personally, it’s the only entry alongside UK’s,Netherlands’s and Portugal’s that *perfectly* portaits the title theme of the 2022 contest, the Sound Of Beauty. There are literally zero imperfections. 🙂
They need to finish top 5-6 in the jury vote, at the very least, otherwise those juries have no point being there. Simple as that.
I really like this, it’s the perfect antidote to the majority of the acts who feel the need to throw everything including the kitchen sink in order to make an impression.
Mark my words, this is a definite jury qualifier! <3
