Eurovision 2022 second rehearsals continue for semi-final two. Second out of the blocks is Cyprus’s Andromache. How does “Ela” look on the Eurovision stage? Let’s find out…
Cyprus’s Andromache “Ela” — Eurovision 2022 second rehearsal
Padraig: Andromache certainly succeeds in waking us from last night’s lucid dreams with her second rehearsal. The staging is stunning in its simplicity. The songstress is perched at the centre of a giant seashell for the entirety of her performance. Think Botticelli’s Birth of Venus or Valentina Monetta’s “Maybe”. But this is much more elevated than San Marino’s 2014 effort. Projections mean that the shell’s colour pallette is constantly changing from watery blues to passionate pinks to warm oranges. Andromache is joined by two dancers and they perform similar choreography to the music video. Cyprus has possibly made the best use of the in-built water feature so far, but their staging makes the LEDs redundant. And that’s obviously a good thing. Everything is contained within the shell. Andromache delivers steady vocals, improving with each run through.
