Padraig: Andromache certainly succeeds in waking us from last night’s lucid dreams with her second rehearsal. The staging is stunning in its simplicity. The songstress is perched at the centre of a giant seashell for the entirety of her performance. Think Botticelli’s Birth of Venus or Valentina Monetta’s “Maybe”. But this is much more elevated than San Marino’s 2014 effort. Projections mean that the shell’s colour pallette is constantly changing from watery blues to passionate pinks to warm oranges. Andromache is joined by two dancers and they perform similar choreography to the music video. Cyprus has possibly made the best use of the in-built water feature so far, but their staging makes the LEDs redundant. And that’s obviously a good thing. Everything is contained within the shell. Andromache delivers steady vocals, improving with each run through.

It seems as a non qualifier. I prefer Malta and San Marino.
Im not a huge fan of this song, but I am loving how the shadows cast on the prop.
For some reason I think Cyprus might struggle to qualify. I wish her all the best but I don’t really like the seashell thing.
It looked more promising at the first rehearsal, the lighting feels weird :/
I’m feeling this with a couple of performances. I think because of the dead rainbow things just don’t lit enough, too dark or something. In this case, the lack of spotlighting seems to blend her in too much to the set piece.
I expected more dynamic presentation, but it’s probably still enough to qualify. Not Top 10 material though.

I agree! I wish the shell had more details, and more importantly: I wish they had the smoke machine on to help blend it into the stage more.
I think the lack of ethnic sounds this year really helps this song. I agree that in this clip that it all feels dark and shadowy. I really thought this would be better suited for a staging that felt sun kissed on the Mediterranean beaches. But this feels like an after dark seedy club. I just want to bring lightness and sunshine to this beautiful song.
Its very dark and the -many- wide shots have a negative impact in the performance, they need to change things
this is a bit underwhelming. The camerawork is too slow and not very inspired, doesn’t infuse any glamour or ethereal glow. Also, the shadows are visually very distracting imo.
They could do so much better than that!
However I like the song very much, reminds me of Ivi Adamou sort of
Slightly more underwhelming than the TikTok snippet, it seems a little darker than I would like it to be and the wider shots are not quite working. I really want the sensuality to shine through here, a lot is going to depend on how Andromache plays this on the night.
this was a disappointment for me. she should’ve recreated the garden shoots in her music video, her song doesn’t suit this ‘modern’ staging, no idea how cyprus got it so wrong.
I agree with you, the staging is awful, too dark and these colours are hurting my eyes..She looks also unhappy, like she is not satisfied with everything…
yeah her facial expressions make everything worse. they need to work on that part.
Still excited about Cyprus’s staging, however it all looked a little dark today and couldn’t really see the performers. Other than that very good.
It doesn’t look as good as in the photos, but it will probably qualify. I could see this being a shock NQ tho, the semis are too hard to call this year…

A really beautiful singer, a good staging idea… and bad camera work. Hope they can change things, because this has potential to be amazing.
Great visuals, but they need to change the camera angles. I heard she had many technical issues with her microphone.

I didn’t like the camera angles. It shows dancers straggling to get into position. I heard they will be changing some camera angles so hopefully it will look better when live.
After all the hype from the first rehearsal this is what we get? a bit of a letdown.

As far as the staging goes – If the big sun was working, I would probably think having two suns on the stage would be a bit over the top. Now having once small sun-shell is creating something special for Cyprus. As for her – I would just love to see more will for the performance in her. I had a feeling she was absent and not very interested in the choreography. Her body language is: We brought the shell, what else do you want me to do. It looks really solid. No-one else is covering this sort of sound and Cyprus not only have a good song but they’re presenting it well.

Yep, agree totally. The shadows of her and the dancers are really annoying though, hope they can fix that although I can’t see how.
Exactly!! so distracting.. that can be easily fixed though: stop these low angle shots
