Brooke That's Rich Ireland Eurovision 2022 Rehearsal
Photo: EBU / NATHAN REINDS

We’ve officially seen half of the Eurovision 2022 second rehearsals for semi-final two. And it’s up to Ireland’s Brooke to kick off the second half with “That’s Rich”. How did she get on on the Eurovision stage? Let’s find out…

Ireland’s Brooke “That’s Rich” — Eurovision 2022 second rehearsal

Padraig: The Late Late Show is now a distant fever dream. The pink pyjamas and ponytails have been consigned to the bin and instead we get what is possibly the biggest glo-up from national final season to the Turin stage. Brooke is dressed in a futuristic-looking blue crop top and hot pants ensemble complete with a sheer overskirt, sleeves and high boots. A bedazzled microphone tops off the look. She’s joined by four dancers in pink. The performance starts with an aerial shot of everyone lying on the floor. Brooke is at the centre, surrounded by a large beating heart. Once they’re back on their feet, the ladies proceed to do the choreography we’ve seen at the preview parties. But this is much better. The moves are polished and the team as a whole seem a lot more confident. Most importantly, Brooke has delivered one of her strongest vocals to date. She’s more at ease with dancing, less breathy and finishing all her words. Semi-final two is tough, but Ireland can’t be ruled out.

It’s diabolical nonsense again from Ireland if it wasn’t in the original selection the song that was runner up in the Irish selection competition would have qualified for the final

I simply can’t understand why people hype over this song. It is so average, bland and predictable with nothing to lift it up, making it more irritating than anywhere near likeable. Malta’s song shines bright compared to this!

Most of the comments are saying it could qualify based on this rehearsal you would hardly call that overhyping

She’s getting better and better. I was not sold on this song at all when I first heard it, but I’m starting to root for her!

Ireland in the top 3 for YouTube views for yesterday’s rehearsals and ahead of the likes of Sweden, Australia, Estonia, Czech Rep etc. Brooke could even end up being a shock top 5 / 6 finisher in this semi, never mind just a borderline qualifier who barely scrapes through. She seems to be peaking just at the right moment.

This is a gear and a half higher Very positive response from Eurovision fans across Europe when I first heard it I thought it was a qualifier then I got doubts if it would now I’m hopeful again having watched the 50 second rehearsal clip

I am loving how Brook is progressing with confidence and stage presence.
At the national final, she was just a boring girl next door with a killer song.
and now many months later by 2nd rehearsal, she is bringing the party vibe and beaming with confidence.
A borderline qualifier. So want Ireland to return to their glory days of ESC.
Good luck Ireland
From UK.

While I expected a sassier performance, I think it has a lot of chances to make it to the final. She’s improved a lot, the song’s accessible and her performance looks polished and confident. Slay kween!

I expected a more sassy performance with close ups on Brooke. Let’s see if Ireland can make the miracle come true.

You just cannot set aside the fact that the song is ghastly. Arguably one of the worst entries by any country ever. Add in that she isn’t a good vocalist or performer and its clear there is no way it is making the final

This is an absolutely ridiculous comment. If you don’t like the song ,thats fine, if you have constructive critique thats fine but why saying its one of the worst entries ever or she isn’t a good vocalist? Thats straight up bullying and completely unnecessary. If you have nothing constructive to say about the performance you shouldn’t be commenting. I don’t comment on performances that I don’t personally like because why bother speaking negatively, just realise its not something you like, others do like it. Please be respectful of performers

Once more?! How many wins does Cyprus have…. Oh yes the country which is waiting the longest for a win. Most failed attempts in other words.

I always love reading the comments on Ireland. – if it was the best song in the competition it would still be “a dark horse and might not qualify” think about that and ask yourselves why ?

James Burke

That’s right Orla but Is Ireland continue to pick a song from the budget late late show they will continue to get Nil Point

I can see this qualifying now!! It’s polished , she’s confident enough for the juries, and the song will be catchy for a lot of people at home on 1st listen, also it’s easy for non English speakers to sing along with. Well done Ireland

I think this is turning into a very accessible performance in a semi filled with darkness. It’s probably the most happy bright song in this semi and now I think it can qualify for occupying its own lane.

A tacky, cheap, trashy party……

And I am 100% here for it. The wide shots look amazing. Brooke is serving the Saturday night fun and I think she’ll get a lot of televote support for it.

She has a confidence up there that a lot of the other acts don’t and that this song absolutely needs. Ireland have once again brought the proper staging. The song’s not to my taste but the package is strong enough to have qualification chances. Juries might tank it but I think the public might be kinder! :3

Totally agree, I think the televote will be stronger for it. It might be polished enough to get some jury votes. UK and Australia in the semi voting may get Ireland over the line

This improved but from what it was the only way is up really. I still don’t think Ireland will qualify but SF2 is a hot mess death semi of whatever the hell so who knows really.

Yep… Staging looks decent, she just moves around without really dancing but it’s ok also, and unlike several others she’s dressed in a way that advantages her. The song is catchy, and in such a messy sf she can really qualify.

This semi is messy, hard to predict and very strong. I don’t think the Irish entry is strong enough to survive this semi.

Alright, I just saw the official 2nd rehearsal video… Call me crazy, tasteless, whatever, but I think Ireland has a better staging than Cyprus, Finland, Israel and other potential qualifiers this year. Brooke did an exquisite work.

I really like Cyprus but I find the staging just a little bit distracting but at least your not looking at that black hole. With Ireland however no amount of spotlights shining out (there’s a lot of this going on through many of the acts, I wonder if the audience will actually see anything) or pyrotechnics can disguise the fact that most of the background is black, this would benefit from the comic strip imagery on an LED screen (a lá Ireland in 2019) but unfortunately we cant have that.

This feels more and more stage ready with each new rehearsal. It’s an unappologetic camp pop, and Brooke owns it. While Lesley had a bit better song, her staging and vocals weren’t up for that overtly ambitious task. Ireland 2022, on the other hand, knows what they are doing with this. Will it qualify? Unlikely. Should it qualify? I’d push them in as borderlines. It’s fun. It would also be a nice boost for the future Irish selections.

Brooke served! The staging indeed looks nice and more polished and I feel like her vocals also improved. It’s a shame however that it won’t be enough for her to qualify for the Grand Final but at least it’s a respectable and dignified attempt!
