Semi-Final 2 of Eurovision 2022 is done and dusted, and we have our ten qualifiers.
Rock legends The Rasmus opened the party with a big balloon party, and We Are Domi closed the night with a massive light production and the destruction of classic art. In between, Konstrakta gave us a lesson in beauty and healthcare, Sheldon Riley ascended to the heavens in white, and Cornelia Jakobs reprised her winning Melodifestivalen performance.
Eighteen contestants sang, but only ten made it through to Saturday’s grand final.

Did your favourite make it through? Are you surprised by the Eurovision 2022 semi-final 2 results? Let us know in the comments below.
I think there should be a rule if you get 0 points from jury or televote you cannot qualify for the final. I mean almost 100 points from jury and 0 from public for azerbaijan.
I’m disappointed that San Marino didn’t qualify. I wasn’t a huge fan before the semi-final, but his performance was awesome! Malta’s result is vindicating. During the national selection, I was astonished that they chose her over Aidan Cassar. Nicole Azzopardi’s, “Into the Fire,” would have been an excellent second choice, with a heavier track and some kind of fire spectacle. Missed opportunities! To be clear, I think Emma’s an excellent artist and performer. But if the goal was qualifying for the 2022 Grand Final, Aidan was the clear choice followed by Nicole Azzopardi. (Croatia seemed to have made a similar… Read more »
Nicole Azzopardi had a great song! Needed a better stylist and choreo for the live performance.
oh please…do get a life and hearing aid…Stop this nonsense with Aidan….you can choose him for next year, as you all say ,they know the winner from the beginning…pfff
I am Spanish, maybe a bit toxic by today standards and gay (in that order) but i have to say it (maybe biased by patriotism, who knows?) but last minute of Chanel’s performance is pure gold.
So here is mi opinion Finland: not my cup of tea but I am glad we will have a rock song for the final, they are such a likeable group! Australia: great voice and stage but I do not like the song Belgium: was a good surprise! (was my toilett break but I must confess I enjoyed the whole performance) Cyprus: OMG…song was in my top 5 but I have to admit her vocals were weak and shaky…I think the lighting didn’t help either, sad she didn’t qualify though. Ireland: Brooke did nothing wrong, her vocals were on point and… Read more »
I went on quite the journey with my feelings for WRS… On the national finals I disliked his song because i was salty another contestant didnt win. Afterwards i slowly came to terms with it and it started getting stuck in my head very often. And then, after getting to know Wrs from interview, I started having a soft spot for him. The rehearsals cimented my growing affection and i ended up totally enjoying his song. Now, getting into the finals i had zero hope of him qualifying and when i heard his name… This was pure joy for me… Read more »
Thank god, we left the Israeli representative in the semi-final. I consider his behaviour rude towards the presenters trying to do their job.
Poor guy but i agree…
You can’t fully blame him. The Israeli media has done more than enough to glorify him and boost his ego to a point where it got to him. He really believes he’s all that and it became quite obnoxious to some people.
I believe that poor song choice was his main downfall though. It was awful.
Humbleness is not something you easily loose in your everyday interactions though. ?
Honestly, I don’t think that juries should be able to vote in the semi finals. I get why we have them, and why they are necessary in the final, but I think it should solely be the audience’s decision as to which songs go through.
your favorite didnt make it, we get it… juries will remain in semis as they should and you will have an esc next year to look forward to and then probably lose some of your favs again, it happens and life moves on
And what if it turns out that your favorite which went through was actually saved by the juries, or if your favorite which didn’t make it was actually a result of televoting?
The hatred and spite from some people on here is toxicity in its very ugliest form.
There are songs that I love ??
There are songs I’m not fussed with.
There are songs I would have liked to qualify ??
Everyone likes different things ??????????
I wish every entrant the best of luck.
My comments on the non-qualifiers: CYPRUS – A “shocking NQ” of the day. It’s a lovely song, and I love the shell staging. The lighting didn’t do it any favors, and the choreo felt static. I understand why it didn’t qualify, but I wish if it did. GEORGIA – Quirky and cool. Sure, it can get repetitive, but they should have made it IMHO. Never change your unique approach, Georgia! IRELAND – A NQ which is actually not unexpected, but still disappointing. It’s a surprise which didn’t realized. Brooke did well, and it was fun! I guess that the “unpretentious… Read more »
I’m pretty sure Romania received 12 points from Spain because the Romanian diaspora is huge in Spain
Italy’s fall from favoritism 13 to1 at lad brooks isint surprising I backed it at 2to1 thou it wasn’t my favourite sweeden seems the best now uk alright too
Hi I am crazy fan of the Eurovision song contest
Brooke Scullion was amazing
she has amazing voice
the comments that you gave to Brooke Scullion thank you for that
Ireland didn’t get through to the final
Ireland won back in 2015 7 years ago
Ireland hasn’t won it since
this happens every year
Brooke Scullion was amazing
she doesn’t deserve this
Ireland will fight back next year
Ireland will win next year
2015? Ireland failed to qualify. I actually thought they were top-10 contenders that year.
Ireland haven’t won the Eurovision Song Contest since 1996 which is 26 years ago. They have won it 7 times.
Esctracker is all over the place today, meaning that song-wise this is a very close contest. Sweden, Czechia, Romania and Finland all seem to have done well with thelevoting in Semi 2, taking into account YT views too. I’m not gonna comment on Serbia because the views rather represent the viral factor of the performance, while streams are quite low. Ukraine and Netherlands are still holding on well from semi 1, followed by Norway. Italy, Spain and UK are also present. I expect a very close televoting sequence, except if Ukraine just sweeps all sympathy votes and wins by a… Read more »
Serbia jump from 11th to 7 th placefor win, after Semi final.
I’m not talking about odds lol
I was super impressed with Serbia last night. The lyrics and act were just spot on. So original!
Cheers from The Netherlands 🙂
Why so many dislikes, lol
Spanish creepy fans are giving minuses to everyone who doesn’t mention Spain in any positive way or at all
Hahaha that’s already too much. I’m already having fun on your general hating attitude towards Spain ??
Don’t get me wrong, I love Spain, Madrid is my top 3 cities in the world I ever visited. But this Salomé or whatever is her name song slo mo mo mo is just plain garbage, and I’m not sorry about it. It’s useless kitch at it’s finest
A piece of data: Serbia’s performance in Youtube already has 1.2 million views. Spain’s 800 K. All the rest are far far away from those figures.
That is the most unreliable metric. Look at Albania’s views
Lorena, just because 1 million serbs watched serbia’s performance, that doesn’t mean anything. It’s actually a negative sign.
If 1 of each 6 citizens of a country saw the same Youtube video in only 9 hours that’s already something to be pointed out. Nevertheless, I don’t think we are only talking about Serbs and it does mean something positive.
Moldova 1.5m, Greece 1.1m, Norway 1m.. should I go on?
So you have to compare what happened in 3 days with what happened in just 12 hours. Why? Because there are no similar data of videos from SF2.
I’m just impressed by the quantity of people not wanting to see reality. It’s like in the other article with peoole stating that Ukraine and Spain were clear openers.
Serbia is not an entry from the ones I prefer, I am just surprised by the amount of views she is getting. Just a fact. How can so many people downvote a fact?
So now, 24 hours after sF2 (96 hours from SF1): Serbia 2.4 M, Moldova 1.7 M, Greece 1.2 M, Norway 1.2 M. Don’t you see the difference yet?
People want to see stupid songs
Nah it was a nice performance and I think it’s well deserved. I thought it would qualify after watching the performances yesterday.
Serbia jump From 11th place to 8th place for win.
Jumped from 11th to 8th place in war crimes?
Why Wiwi allow hate speach
Jamie why dont you go to ukraine and fu ck yourself there
My comments on the qualifiers: BELGIUM – I am semi-surprised, tbh. He was good, but the staging was just okay. I thought that he’ll get lost. However, I imagine that he popped-up between the ballads. CZECH REPUBLIC – Deserved qualification! Dominika’s vocals were quite good, and the staging was fun! I am happy that their effort paid off. AZERBAIJAN – I low-key expected this to be further elevated, but it was just like I expected – solid. Nadir has a good voice. I don’t mind him going through, even if I had some NQs higher. POLAND – One of my… Read more »
IN CONPORE SANO!!!
I’m so excited about Czechia. I hope for a top 10 position in the final although the opening slot in the running order might not help. Happy for Poland, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belgium and Estonia too.
My girl Brooke deserved the final, but tbf Ireland must rethink their approach to the contest.
Overall happy for the results and I’m looking forward to a nice and enjoyable final.
Ukraine will win, Germany will probably host so let’s enjoy the songs anyway.
PS. I hope for a UK/Netherlands miracle but realistically this will probably not happen…
Czech Republic will be contender for TOP 5 , TOP 10 with better singer
Dominika is a great singer and the song is one of the best this year. I will be happy with a Top10 result, I like being a realist.
I have another theory as per host if Ukraine wins: Poland. They never had the chance to host so far, I think they are more than ready. And last, but not least, there are currently 2 million Ukrainians in Poland.
The only problem is that Poland will need to take part in the semis, while Germany goes directly to the final as member of the Top 5. Same goes for Sweden, etc. Realistically Germany is the most likely host next year if Ukraine wins.
PS. *Top 5=Big 5
You are right. I also read that Spain sent an official proposal to host to EBU.
Germany could finish last tomorrow, and the UK 2nd – also a Big 5 member. Then they could host too, it’s almost been 35 years now.
Yeah, Germany, UK or Spain – any of the 3. France could do it too. I said Germany because I expect it will be easier organisation-wise
Remember as per the rules it’s the host country who gets an automatic spot I. The final, not the winning country – so if this were the case, Poland would be in the final as TVP would be host broadcaster – Ukraine would be in the semis. Awkward!!!
I love the song “river” and he has a great voice but Ochman has a very small personality which makes him boring to watch so the on screen graphics are there to help elevate.
I personally like the masked dancers element and the lighting works.
Maybe use less rain effects on screen. But A-OK for me.
I’m so done with all the toxic reactions that certain countries didn’t deserve to qualify, or that whoever votes for a certain country has no taste – taste is a very personal thing.
We should all be happy that we have something like Eurovision, that we can watch it safely with our friends and enjoy it – with all the surprises, hick-ups, bops & flops.
100% it’s only a TV show! And let’s be honest 90% of the national broadcasters don’t try to win. Relax everyone – party snacks are what matters
Very well said ESCC! Being Belgian, I start to wonder what ever our country did to Europe to get this much hate…?Every year again…It is never deserved if our artist gets through, there’s always something wrong with the staging, vocals and songs are crap…as if we are the ones to be ‘bullied’ time and time again…Kind off not feeling welcome anymore…:-(
Unfortunately the “fandom” gets more toxic every year so the best thing is to not take comments to heart. It’s become more common to try and discredit entries that you fear or dislike than to try and uplift entries you like.
You have to keep in mind that this is a minority of people that watch Eurovision. Most of people just have fun watching the show, supporting their country or other favourites. I love Belgium in ESC – you always send what you feel it’s good and are unapologetic!
“You have to keep in mind that this is a minority of people that watch Eurovision”. That’s partly wrong, especially in countries like Iceland or Sweden. It is a minority that comments here though, with more or less balanced views. However, it is certain that most of the viewers at home will listen to the songs for the first time at the grand final, and that’s what makes the contest so impredictable (remember Keiino for instance). But as you said, people are fully entitled to support their own country or other favourites, but as long as they don’t spread hate.… Read more »
I think what was meant is the people who comment on wiwibloggs are a minority of the eurovision audience as a whole. The opinions of us where who obviously have way too much time to think about things are not reflective of the audience as a whole
Oh Belgium sent a lot of wonderful songs, starting with Blanche ! 2006, 2008, 2010, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2021 were all great… The only major letdown was Axel Hirsoux.
I agree! How can anyone say that one deserves a qualification and the other does not? All the artists have done a great job and everyone deserves to win. Even those whose song I personally did not like. Everyone’s taste is different and it’s wrong to say that X deserves a place in the finals and Y doesn’t deserve it.
Peace peace love love xo 🙂
The few positive comments on mine are very uplifting and encouraging, there are still some decent people out here 😉
Peace peace love love should be the mantra of everyone watching Eurovision! I’m up for a fun day and evening tomorrow with friends, looking forward to it. I don’t mind the running order, politics or hosting this year – with some partysnacks & drinks it’s always fun!
Exactly! I think today’s show will be very exciting. And I wish you and your friends a great Eurovision party.
i am done with toxic reactions towards Malta, and especially this year at Emma
Almost 60% winning chance for Ukraine. I don’t know how to feel about it. It is bittersweet.
A neighbor of mine in Ireland has given a family from Ukraine two rooms in their home and they watched the semi final 1 Eurovision together. I almost cried when I heard that. At the end of the day it’s only a tv show! If Ukraine win I’ve no doubt it will give Ukrainian people a small ray of light that they are not alone. Im ok with that.
I think I would prefer if politics didn’t decide the winner. I hope people will vote for the song they want to hear again and the one they like the most. I’m supporting Ucraine in million ways, but I wont vote for them because I pity them. I also fear next years contest will be even more political should Ucraine win. Eurovision is entertainment and I hope Ucraine places high, but fear them winning for the sake of the competition. On top of that Ucraine already won once because of Russian aggression with Jamala.
It is what it is. People follow their hearts and what’s happening in Ukraine has affected everyone in Europe now. Regardless of the song being or not a deserved winner, let’s celebrate what Eurovision stands for and that’s bringing people together.
Sergey Lazarev had such odds to Jamala’s 9% and we saw what happened on the night.
To all the dense people commenting that obviously never experienced war… Would it be the worst thing if Ukraine wins? 1st of all the song is great. Ukraine is one of few countries that stayed true to eurovision and always bring something different from the rest. 2nd of all we would show that we stand behind a weaker country that was invaded and devasted by a much larger country. And they will be rebuilding it for the next 20+ years. If someone understands that, us Croatians do. 3rd of all you are not showing pity to Kalush orchestra, you are… Read more »
We also went through war and i can totally relate to what you are saying but this is a song contest. A win of Ukraine this year will only harm the contest and give one more reason to those who hate it to moan about the political aspect of it. For this reason I don’t want Ukraine to win. We can support them with other means not by giving them Eurovision.
and if they get the votes because people like the song and performance?
I love how your “concern” are moaners and not doing a right thing. God forbid if we rocked the boat.
How is Ukraine winning eurovision the right thing? Believe a country in war has more important things to worry about.
Holy words!! I subscribe them 130%. The dumb people here still push for their beloved national singer to win. Cornelia, Chanel, whatever. Ukraine will surely win the televote because European citizens have an heart, sometimes eurofans doesn’t.
Than I don’t have a heart. I don’t care. I judge a performance by other things than sentiment: is it a song I like, do I like the performance, is their singing okay.
If we let people win that we feel sorry for, then delete the whole contest.
So let’s give the prize to Ukraine, let’s celebrate that we are good people then the other countries don’t have the illusion they can go for victory….
I agree I hope Ukraina wins!
am sad for Malta, Emma did the best she could, she was too nervous probably but still i thought she had fun with the dancing, try again some other year but then with a 100% own composition
stream I Am Emma EP btw, there are some gems on that, like Closer, Thank You and of course Out of Sight which i’m thankful for she included that too on her EP
i hope we will see her soon in Sanremo too
Yes, I hope to see her in Sanremo, which is a less toxic tv show than eurovision. There are not lots of stage designers talking of broken suns, websites like this one filled of music critics, stage designers wannabe, fashion designers wannabe, etc. I like her song more than Finland and Serbia.
Why are you here If you are so bitter? Besides I have seen you doing exactly the same thing.
Like attacking Sweden everywhere for no reason more than spreading toxity.
It is a fact Sweden has sometime being overrated just because it’s sweden. Think 2015, Il Volo winning massively the televote but arriving third because of the jury vote for Mans Zermelow buy the dear other friendly countries, the Nordics, plus UK and The Nederlands who always come to resue Sweden when it’s needed. Same thing in 1991. Don’t tell me Carola’s song was better than Amina’s from France. You must be blind to don’t see this.
Totally agree. Il Volo’s song was a absolutely masterpiece. Never liked “heros” at all and never will be.
Of course, I know. And also this year we have a problem with Sweden. This attention seeking singer, Cornelia Jacobs, puts “viva la fi…” on her instagram to capture the italian audience. Then, during the press conference of thursday, she simulates a gun with her hands and point it to the head of the conference host Mario Acampa, and then ask him to lay on the ground. Either she has a mental pathology or she was drunk. Or she is only seeking attention.
When the 10thr spot was being announced I was sure it was Serbia. After seeing many reactions on YT now, many if them are shocked it was Serbia, not expecting it at all. I am afraid it is way to devisive
It could also be the realisation that several favourites failed to make the cut. I should imagine the audience would be quite a few Italians expecting Achille Lauro to go through to the final. After all the audience clapped along with Serbia.
No point trying to over analyse things. We will soon have the results and conclusions will be beyond doubt.
it’s true, we did expect Achille Lauro to get through, not only because he’s a beast of the stage and did a very over the top performance (I’m trying hard not to be a fan, but you can’t help but sing the song and smile when he performs), but because it is a true Eurovision kind of thing. It will stay in the collective memory for how strange it was. For that reason alone, we’re pretty surprised. But of course, we couldn’t vote for him and I’m pretty sure Italy’s televote would have been 12 right there, maybe with a… Read more »
No matter what a song is, being announced for the last spot will bring in unwarranted hate from the people which countries failed to qualify. Konstrakta may have won this semi, yet it will be perceived as if she battled for the tenth position and kicked their country out.
I definitely agree with most of the results. I definitely thought Cyprus had a good shot at qualifying but she really wasn’t very strong vocally.. The only country I am shocked about making it through is Belgium. Both the televote semi and the jury semi weren’t his strongest performances so I would have much rather seen Ireland, San Marino or even Georgia making it through. All these 3 imo gave stronger performances than Belgium, but overall I think the best countries made it
And once again, here I am with my take on the performances in this contest. The second semifinal was much harder for me to score than the first. I use 10 criteria to score the performances. 9.35 (14) Finland (Q) The Rasmus were my #4 for this semi and the bookies’ #6 on Monday, but they were starting to slip on the bookies’ boards. I didn’t like the stage setup they went with (lots of yellow with balloons), and they didn’t strike me as being as ferocious on vocals as they did in their recording, and I thought they were going to slip… Read more »
Cornelia Jakob’s behaviour at the press conference was appalling. She is unprofessional and entitled. Like a female version of the Israeli entrant. Her song is overrated. There were at least 5 songs in the Swedish final that were better. She has been given a great placing in the final and does not deserve it.
Well, she’s got ADHD. Maybe that can explain something.. but I’m not saying it’s an excuse.
I didn’t know that. Agree that that is probably a factor (though not an excuse).
We need to stop with the excuses. She’s not the only person with ADHD, ASD or other diagnoses. Bad behaviour is bad behaviour.
PS. As an adult with ASD I’m insulted seeing people attributing bad behaviour to neurodiversity. It’s misleading.
The famous swedish fans group sittinc close to me went crazy for Cornelia and were noisy, chatty and totally uninstered when Il Volo performed. Cornelia will benefit, like each year, on the shameful geographic vote. Nordics, Baltics, The Nederlands and UK/Ireland/Australia will vote for her.
Cornelia has ADHD. Her actions to jump up is something she also did after the win on the female presenter in melfest. Think her impulses made her not to reflect that it was inappropriate given what is happening in Ukraine. Cornelia has enormous empathy, she would never have done this if she understood that someone would be sad or angry. But yes, as a swed I which this never had happened. ? Partly for those in Ukraine that might be offended, and partly because this might mean a lot of hate in Swedish media from those who would like Anders Bagge to… Read more »
The jumping up impulse is most odd. To think it is acceptable to expect the host to carry you like an oversized baby over to the goldfish bowl to draw your place in the final. To order him to lie on the floor so insistently. I really hope there is focus on this behaviour in the Swedish media. She needs to gain some self awareness. Of course, only Swedes and Eurofans will pay any attention. Most people will be unaware and just vote based on her song.
Having said that, her keen focus on the importance of the right camera angles and the benefits of being in the second half suggest she is very aware of other things.
She said bad things on Italian broadcaster, on RAI, even on the steadycamer who doesn’t approach too much to her (maybe he knows what happened to Mario Acampa in the conference room), on the swedish newspapers. Like if everything was so bad. I have checked the semifinal and the camera cuts were ok, no problems. So she does this only to prepare ground in case she doesn’t win. I may agree the song is very good, I like it lot, but the behaviour of Cornelia is so not professional, so she doesn’t deserve a victory. For me the winner spot… Read more »
Sweden was the obvious winner! What a performance!!! I hope that Sweden wins this year. It would be so deserved!
Thanks god there is Ukraine to avoid the 7th win of Sweden. Ok. Let’s call it Melfest and let’s stop.
Sweden will.come second and host anyway
I would not be so sure. Maybe Ukraine will be able to host indeed, and if was will be over by next year, I will be willing to travel to Ukraine and go to see Eurovision there, in order to help them.
Yes very unfortunately this seems to be unavoidable… But Sweden earns it more.
I enjoyed the Swedish song more from the national final. It doesn’t work as well on this big ESC stage. The performance looks small and lost in Italy.
I find the verses long boring but the chorus catchy. This should not be a winning song. It will do well but in my opinion not worthy of the winning song in a song contest.
No no no! I don’t agree at all. I think it worked much better in the ESC. It was less stylished, but that gave the act even more intimacy and vulnerability, more emotion and authenticity and this is what makes this song rock.
It was the camera work that did not work here. They did not manage to come close enough.
Yes, the Italian production has totally destroyed the intimacy from melfest. An other person whith more experience from this kind of close Camerashots whould made a huge difference. The Swedish delegation will hopefully be listened to.
I agree, Sweden was flawless, really. The winner of the semi by far. Good song, vocals, performance, simplicity. WOW! She may not win but it’s a brilliant entry, well done Sverige!
Some of my takes from last night 🙂 I used to be a huge Eurofan but this year I hadn’t listened to (almost) any song in advance, so this is kinda an outsider commenting. – As for my country Finland, I’m happy we qualified, especially as a DNQ would’ve done a lot of harm for our national final UMK which is kinda on a high tide now. It was not the best performance, the stage show was weird tbh and Lauri sounded very nervous (which is surprising considering how experienced he is haha) but song-wise, it definitely deserved to go… Read more »
Sorry to say, but I believe Jezebel is an outdated style of rock and I am quite surprised they will go in the final. I believe this is more related to the fact they are a known group than for the song itself.
Spain happened to be voting in this semi. They probably got points from their Western Latin brethren. 🙂
Well, after a challenging first semi (and not in a good way), last night was much much better. I think the Italian production got over the first shock and improved on Tuesday. It also probably didn’t hurt having a better lineup of songs this time. They being said, the quality of the production is still well behind previous years. The rainbow of death should go down in the history books of the EBU of horrible risk management and poor planning – this has killed the staging and big-event-ism of Eurovision. Interval acts were also pretty unengaging – with the exception… Read more »
Ok, I see the broken sun saga continues, despite the messages from EBU to stop to poir s it (with an h in the empty space) on the production. Of course I share the view the stage was too complex and risky, but commenting from home, while I can comment having seen live the two semifinals in the Pala Alpitour, it’s easy. Seen live, the light effects, pyros, and overall impact was incredible! Maybe from home seen on TV is not the same. Pyros for me were the most awesome I have ever seen on an ESC stage. Concerning the… Read more »
Portugal didn’t have led wall, Israel were relatively shorter on money and Netherlands had every possible COVID restrictions – yet I’ve found them all providing strong shows despite the above. I don’t agree that it’s about being demanding fans and having to tick all the technical boxes in order to achieve great results. Whatever the efforts the Italian production have put in it, it unfortunately doesn’t translates well to the TV show, which is where it mainly matters, no offence. I’m not saying this is oh-so horrible, it’s ok, it just lacks the special Eurovision magic touch.
You know, they had probably planned different opening acts that were all relying on the kinetic sun, that, effectively, has a defect. It works as it has been seen in the interval acts of both semifinals (and when it works it is gorgeous, like a kind of stargate or planet with rings). So they had to rewrite everything in a few days. For example, for the opening act of the first semifinal there should have been a huge Augmented Reality working together the kinetic sun, showing moon, planets, the drone Leo flying between them intermixing ARx the sun, the stage,… Read more »
That’s unfortunate, but still, for such a well-oiled and orchestrated event, it’s not a good look for both the Italian production for not identifying that this is a cumbersome stage that doesn’t accommodate the fast and flexible nature of constant staging changes, and the EBU for greenlighting this with their experience. The effect it has on the actual performances (aka the event, rather than interval acts) is hard to ignore – many share the feeling it looks dark, small and same-y. The design and planning process was flawed, discovering just a week before says a lot, as much as it’s… Read more »
I find this year’s results really fair in both semis. Even though songs I don’t like passed I think they passed because the performance was good.
Cannot be happy my country (Cyprus) didn’t make it but people were right not to vote for us, she couldn’t sing or move.
For me that was the biggest upset… still can’t believe it!
Am I the only one who thinks that the music in the Belgian act is at the very beginning exactly the same as in Rise like a phoenix by Conchita Wurst?
sorry posted on the wrong post
Can we please ban the israeli guy foreve? So, so, soooooo annoying.
he needs to be banned from wiwibloggs, eurovision venues and any event that involves cameras. He has issues.
This time my prediction was a bit more off – only 8/10 since I put Cyprus (oh well) and Ireland (really sad for this one) instead of Azerbaijan (great vocals, meh song) and Romania (I’m happy for him). My winner of the evening was Estonia, but that’s no surprice, since he is my winner overall.
Super happy for my country to qualify of course.
The song is a copy of an Avicii song. But he was one of the best performers last night. He seemed relaxed and at ease on the stage. Less of drama like Poland and Australia and some other of the make performers. It felt like a fresh breath of air.
Hej Brother by Avicii
During his performance, all i could constantly see was down his throat and up his nose.
My opinion that no one asked for: Serbia – My winner. Ofc I’m a bit subjective because I understand what she is singing about but nevertheless the crowd went crazy when she was on. Sweden – I’m usually the biggest hater of Sweden but MY GOD this is a masterpiece and she jumped to my 2nd place. Romania – I love it. It’s a nice song and I’m happy for Romanians especially after last year and questions should they even return. I can get behind Czechia, Poland, Estonia and Australia but I really don’t understand Finalnd, Belgium and Azerbaijan qualifying.… Read more »
In my opinion Belgium was better then Cyprus, just because of the vocals. Andromache was out of key the entire song hence the results…
Cyprus song was 10 times better, but Belgium performed their song 10 times better. Agreed.
I think Ireland deserved to qualify over Belgium. I thought he was out of tune for a lot of the song 🙁 but I’m happy for him
I will never watch ESC again, if Ukraine wins. In that case the message would be: Let’s start a war in a country and give them a Eurovision win. I wouldn’t like a war to happen in my country just for a Eurovision win, an Oscar or an Olympic gold medal. Entertainment isn’t important, so keep politics away from it – let the best song/performance win ESC, not the current situation in a country. Ukraine winning ESC would change nothing in the actual war. I’m sure if you ask any Ukrainian “Do you want the war to stop tomorrow or… Read more »
Well, get ready yo not watch Eurovision then. It is inevitable at this point
My dear, then don’t watch it. Such a rude comment. Do you know 50% is based on televote? So why don’ t you think a lot of viewers will award Ukraine with their vote to show solidarity with Ukrainian people. They are humans, you know. Elderly people, children, etc. You do all this because you want your country to win instead? Please note that if Putin pushes the red button you will not have your country anymore. I am Italian and of course roots for Mahmood and Blanco. But I will be happy in case Ukraine wins. They are fighting… Read more »
Such a great comment. My thoughts are exactly. I root for Lithuania which is always at the bottom with bookies and I also could be really angry and unhappy following this logic, but it is how it is. It’s just a song competition after all, there are bigger things in life.
Thank you. You know, we are human beings. Our humanity must surface forever. Also in a musical competition among nations.
It’s foolish to think that you’re showing solidarity with someone by giving them a Eurovision win. What exactly will become better for elderly people, children etc. by Ukraine winning ESC? There are much better ways to help Ukrainian civilians than through unimportant entertainment. Putin must be enjoying to watch how stupid Europeans are by thinking they’re helping Ukraine by letting them win ESC. How does an ESC win help someone who’s lost his/her home? If there was such a war in my country, I wouldn’t even care about entertainment. Also if you want to help Ukrainian civilians, help them directly… Read more »
Wow, what an oversimplified and stupid reaction. ‘Let’s start a war in a country and give them a Eurovision win’. As if that this would be the message. Ukraine never asked for the war, and they just sent another song to Eurovision this year like they do every year. Of course they want the war to stop, and I’m pretty sure they all know in Ukraine that winning Eurovision will not stop the war – they probably are more realistic than you, since all Ukrainian citizens went through horrible times. But, if they win, it might give them a message… Read more »
No, thanks. ESC is a non-political competition, and let it stay like that. Let the best song/performance win. A Eurovision win litteraly means nothing – I wouldn’t feel less forgotten, if there was a war in my country, and then it won Eurovision. It would mean absolutely nothing for me. What exactly do you get, when your country wins ESC, an Oscar or an Olympic medal? Does that make your life better?
I think you can be unhappy about Ukraine winning as much as you want, but that will change nothing. It will be how it is meant to be. If voters think that (thinking about psychology this will be the case I guess) they support Ukraine this way, they will vote for it. Best is enjoy the show and not to make a big deal about winning, or not to watch at all if you don’t agree with it. You will not change voters minds.
Well, I don’t agree with every ESC winner, but that’s because other people have a different taste than me. I respect their opinion, we don’t have to agree on everything. But the main thing is that every winner so far has been because of the song/performance. If Ukraine wins, noone will be able to defend that it was because of the song/performance. Just keep non-artistic things out of the competition. I know that a war, a natural catastrophe or a climate disaster is a huge problem, but you can’t help people in such situations by gifting their country a win… Read more »
that is, if a person likes a song of a country, they cannot vote for it because there is a war in this country and because of that they are voting politically? I would understand all these comments if the song was absolutely terrible, but judging by the positions of the song in the charts and views on YouTube (even before the start of the war), many people really like Stefania
The song is a totally different story. In my opinion the song definitely deserves to be in the final, but winning potential? No. I don’t think that song/performance would have had any chance to win the contest, if it was from any other country than Ukraine.
Anyway, Ronela had a huuuuuuuuge success yesterday in EuroVillage. The applauses were incredible. The audience, probably 20K people again, was shoutin her name and she was moved by this huge response from the (mostly) italian fans. Also huge succsss of Loreen, Duncan Lawrence and Conchita Wurst.
I like the downvotes. So please downvote me a lot.
Awkward moment when you make the drama after one downvote and people actually are upvoting you
You know, I am usually downvoted, is like a drug for me. I was not making a drama. Criticisms allow to grow and get better.
I am so fu*king happy for Romania to make the final. They needed this. Cheers from Croatia.
Nice to hear that Lauri of The Rasmus actually kept his notes once so that Finland entered the final. Feeling for Cyprus. I liked it more than Azerbaijan and Belgium.
He was highly supported by backing vocals, ACTUALLY his high note was pre recorded so he lip synced that one. one hit wonder band and always will be.
I’m sad for Cyprus (it was a safe contender for the final to me, same with Albania) and Montenegro
Agreed. But unfortunately nerves got the best of her and you could hear it.
I honestly never thought that Cyprus was a safe contender for the final. Her song is good, but I always wondered how they would do the staging. And unfortunately, it was quite ‘static’ and she seemed like she couldn’t be bothered. Also, the singing was not the strongest of that evening.
The Best Poland Czech Serbia Sweden
Gotta love the comments from Cornelia in Swedish media. – We have projection instead of a lamp like we had in Mello, so it’s easier for our team to control the light on the circle. It’s safer because we have SVT’s lightning team that makes sure it’s done correctly, so we don’t leave too much in the hands of the Italians, it’s clear that they work really differently here. They will need to work on the camera angels, because I have a very specific camera vision. It’s important that the cameramen knows in which tempo they should walk around me… Read more »
This lady should cool down. She is not a goddess. Gosh, never seen such arrogant behaviour. She should be more humble than an arrogant prick. Additional writing “Viva la fi…” on her IG, is not funny, it’s trivial. It’s a cheap way to catch Italian votes and attention. But god, I will not vote for Sweden even for all the gold in Fort Knox. They won 6 times and still, like vultures are proposing themself to Ukraine to host in Sweden in case Ukraine wins. What a courage. This tendence to perceive Eurovision as their own think makes me puke.… Read more »
I’m still enjoying people who are trying to entertain more than people just sitting there and being quiet trying to fit in unnoticed. Might not be political correct all the time but I still prefer that, and I think many others do as well. She has adhd as well so many times she just says what she feels without egen thinking it through, either before or after.
What I meant to say is that she is exactly the same person whether the camera is turned on or not. It feels so much more authentic that way.
I think there is someone else that needs to cool down here. You are somewhat aggressive. I have not seen anything about hosting the competition in Sweden in case Ukraina wins, which now looks like 200% sure. And Cornelia is really down to earth. There are others that act more like divas.
If you read the other comments here, there is someone writing the info Sweden (guess SVT) has proposed UA PBC (ukrainian TV) to host it in Sweden in case Ukraine wins. I cannot read swedish newspapers or website as I dobn’t understand it. So I have to rely and trust the comments written here. SVT also offered a collaboration to RAI to host 2022 edition, but RAI declined and hired (probably under suggestion from EBU) some of the Dutch crew who did ESC2021, instead. If Martin writes the things Cornelia has said, I believe in him. Concerning camera angles, I… Read more »
sorry, but have to upvote you there
I know I am always downvoted by the one claiming Italy is always a mess organizing the ESC, so I am somewhat used to downvotes, but here I am positively surprised! Thank you! ?
If an artist put a lot of effort of planing a staging and then the host country doesn’t deliver. Imagine what stress! The camera shots are not god at all in the beginning. That have a huge impact on the first impression.
You all know all the camera angles are carved in the stone of Cue Pilot. The only thing that may get wrong is the steadycamer moves slow or with wrong movements, a camera breaks, or there is a mishap on the cuepilot as happened during Estonia in 2019. I’m Italian, I am the first to say the camera work has not been flawless, but, come on, despite cue pilot, some cameras are still held by a human beings, not by a machines.
The Italian delegation delivered an 88 page document with their wishes to the Dutch host last year.
good for them
The same artistic director of Måneskin in 2019 is the artistic director of ESC2022. He works for the GiòForma studio in Milan. His name is Claudio Santucci.
I think UK will win overall Ukraine 2nd and Sweden 3rd Serbia 4th Spain 5th
I think this can be pretty accurate.
Except that I see Sweden too high there.
I’ve been waiting to post a comment because I was just too disappointed and also a bit “angry” After yesterday evening show. So, no Cyprus and not even Ireland in the final…. instead we get Romania and Azerbaijan…WHY??? I don’t get it! At least Serbia, Estonia, Poland and Finland did qualify. Very happy for Jérémie that he made it, cause I didn’t expected that.
Romania qualifying was deserved. Song is good and he lit the arena. Azerbaijan qualifying and Ireland not qualifying is wtf for me too. Cyprus had a great song but it was a disaster vocally. Sad for them.
Why not? I loved Ireland, but I enjoyed Romania too. Azerbaijan was really professional, and Cyprus was meh. That’s Eurovision, thank you.
BRAVO JEREMY, DISPITE ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS FROM THE BEGINNING,YOU PROVED THEM WRONG!!!!!
he and his group needs to prove that to the authorities.
Officially this is one of the worst ESC ever. Not only the production is horrible and embarrassing but the songs are outdated ,boring ,nothing we never heard before . It seems like with all the tention in Europe ,this years voting is going to be political more then ever. As much as my heart goes out to Ukraine..Go-A did it better , Felt like lots of the acts are lacking the excitement we used to see. Some qualifiers from the first semi final never had a chance to advanced if they were in the 2nd semi and vice versa. I… Read more »
When people leave comments that are pissed at the results and threaten not to watch the grandfinal always makes me laugh out loud! I can tell you’re pissed at the results because your comment is riddled with contradictions. Usually those who are angry just fire out a comment and then threaten that they’re not watching the final. So you say Romania shouldn’t be there but there are too many ballads? Then it’s vital Romania should be there to add something upbeat to the final. ‘Stefania’ is competing against this years bunch of songs, not ‘Shum’. Go-A had their moment last… Read more »
Anyone who threatens to not watch the final is not a true fan. After all the final is an opportunity to cast a vote and sway the results. Can’t complain about the results if you don’t vote.
Please reread my post then search online for the definition of the word threat.
I chose not to watch this year
And you my friend remind me the fascist in Europe during world War 2.
You declared I am not a true fan .
May I ask what year did you start watching the ESC?
DO YOU KNOW WHO FRANK NUFF IS? ARROGANT VIOLENT SOLDIER.
BTW the first esc I watched was 1978 in France
Who are you to decide who’s a real fan and who’s not.
Shame on you
He is right though that Go-A were much better than Kalush so Klaus scoring higher is only political. But yeah, Let people vent lmao
Wow English is not complicated. I did not make a threat. I made a statement. I choose not to watch the final and you are all hypocrites. When Ronnela called to turn off the TV during her performance, you all went silent, not a word but you cannot deal with different opinion then yours. Amd making assumptions based on what? The results is not what bothers me ,it’s not about me being happy or not, I don’t wave flags of this or that country, I expressed my opinion the songs this year, over all ,are not good . The truth hurts… Read more »
I read your post again and again and I have to say , it is you ,by your unbased assumption and the ridiculous attempt to psychology analyze the reason to my post. You are so wrong but your approach is what makes this event loose its essence. I am not disappointed by the results nor I had a favorite, I do not wave flags or sending msgs on a chat Vote 3,or 5 or this flag . I expressed my overall disappointment from majority of the entries this year, I expressed my disappointment from the production ,from the hosting city,… Read more »
