Eurovision 2022 may have come to a conclusion, but the music will always continue. A number of Eurovision artists are thankfully still producing new music for us to enjoy.

Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.

Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of just some of the songs and music videos released recently by Eurovision stars.

New music from Eurovision artists: 2022 | Week 20

Amanda Tenfjord – “Plans”

After a top-ten finish at Eurovision 2022, Amanda Tenfjord is already making new “Plans”. The Greek-Norwegian singer delivers another ballad that swells with an increasing amount of string accompaniment in the second verse and chorus. Similarly to her Eurovision entry, which was written the day before “Plans”, Amanda again sings about a dying relationship: “We don’t make plans anymore / It’s like both of us are picturing our future on our own / We don’t make plans anymore / Seems like you’ve become an independent individual”.

Hurricane – “Gospodine…”

Ba-ba-ba Balkan girls! Hurricane are making it clear they don’t just get down with any man. In their new single “Gospodine…” (“Sir…”), Serbia’s Eurovision 2021 trio tell a suitor they won’t be buying what he’s selling: “And what would you do sir / If our love would die a little bit / We are playing games, faster and then dirtier / Play tonight but without me”. A catchy Balkan pop number with a key change at the end for good measure, our only issue with the song is that it’s only two minutes long – we always need more Hurricane!

Måns Zelmerlöw – “What You Were Made For”

Måns Zelmerlöw is starting a new musical chapter with the single “What You Were Made For”. It might be a new chapter, but Måns is taking inspiration from something in the past – 80’s pop. Sweden’s Eurovision 2015 champion brings an uplifting message in the lyrics, saying he’ll always support his loved one when things get difficult: “I will be there when life ain’t easy / I’m just a phone call away and you’re in my arms / So when you need me, wе’ll light up the dark / Go spread the lovе, you know it’s what you were made for”.

MARO – “it keeps on raining”

Sometimes Mother Nature is not on your side and “it keeps on raining”. Portugal’s MARO takes that feeling and applies it to a damp and dreary relationship. The Eurovision 2022 star doesn’t believe the partnership is going to go anywhere and thinks it might be time to call it quits: “And I know that it’s hard for you to love me solo / And you know that I don’t want you to dive in if you don’t / Maybe this is time to say goodbye / Let’s face it, mmhh, this ain’t feeling right”.

Benjamin Ingrosso & HUGEL – “Black & Blue”

Benjamin Ingrosso is swapping the Swedish yellow and blue for “Black & Blue”. The Eurovision 2018 star has collaborated with French DJ HUGEL for the new song. A solid dance track, Ingrosso sings about someone who is playing with his heart: “I couldn’t help myself / Yeah, if I wanted to / The way you’ve got me feeling / Beating my heart black and blue”.

Tamara Todevska – “Savršen kroj”

“Savršen kroj” (“The perfect cut”) is the new single from Tamara Todevska. North Macedonia’s Eurovision 2019 star delivers an emotive Balkan ballad. Starting relatively softly, the song increasingly builds throughout its four and a half minutes. It ultimately reaches a rousing conclusion, fuelled by Tamara’s powerful vocals.

Efendi – “Being A Woman”

Efendi has been inspired by women such as “Cleopatra” and “Mata Hari”. And now the Eurovision 2021 star is sharing what it’s like “Being A Woman”. The single is not a full-on #MeToo feminist anthem. Instead, the Azeri singer brings a pop song that focuses on a woman’s search for love: “Every woman needs her angel / Every effort keeps her in danger / Being a woman – my hardest task / You don’t know what’s under my mask”.

Cleo – VINYLOVA

After a year-long delay, we can finally listen to Cleo’s album VINYLOVA. Poland’s Eurovision 2014 star brings together ten songs, including previous singles “Dalej”, “Neony”, “Kocham”, “Mniej znaczy więcej” and “Number One”. The latter song isn’t the only English-language track on the LP — Cleo also includes the anthemic ballad “Fighter”. Aside from this, the rest of the album is more upbeat, providing an overall fun and uplifting feeling.

Patrick Fiori, Patrick Bruel, Florent Pagny and Jean-Charles Papi – “Terra Corsa”

At Eurovision 1993, Patrick Fiori brought the Corsican language to the contest for the very first time. Now the French singer is showcasing the culture of Corsica once again. Corsu Mezu Mezu was an acclaimed album of Corsican cover songs released in 2015. The project is now being brought back for volume two, with the first single from the LP being “Terra Corsa”. Patrick Fiori joins Patrick Bruel, Florent Pagny and Jean-Charles Papi for the song, in addition to a choir that helps provide a strong finish.

Tusse – Happiness Before Love

Tusse has released his debut EP Happiness Before Love. “Let Me Know” opens things up with a gospel choir before bringing in a synthpop and funk vibe. The upbeat pre-released title song follows in second before “Carousel” slows proceedings down a touch and Tusse shares more of his emotional side. “No Reason To Love” concludes the EP with a return to a soulful and electronic sound.

Jeroen van der Boom – “Laat Me Binnen”

Jereon van der Boom is back for another week with the new single “Laat Me Binnen” (“Let Me In”). It comes with a spirited chorus and a key change at the end. In the lyrics, the Netherlands’s Eurovision 2009 star pleads with a certain individual to open up their heart to him: “Know I’m waiting for you / Let me into your heart / Let me in / Let me in / Will you give back your blind faith to me”.

NAVIBAND – “Мары”

NAVIBAND’s new single is dedicated “To all who have been forced to leave their home but have not lost a DREAM to live, love, work and create on their native land”. Belarus’s Eurovision 2017 duo bring us “Мары” (“Dream”), which combines acoustic guitar, drum machine and a more electronic refrain. Arciom and Ksienija say we should not let despair waste our time but instead allow our thoughts and dreams to thrive: “Thoughts returned / And repeated again / Embraced dreams / Red as blood”.

Athena Manoukian – “Loca”

Athena Manoukian is going “Loca” (“Crazy”). Armenia’s Eurovision 2020 entrant adds some spice into her music by singing her latest single in Spanish and just generally giving us the Latin pop flavour. With the song, Athena hopes to encourage us all to go a little crazy:

“Loca is a song referring to the complexity – but also to the craziness of life. You need to suffer to laugh. You need to get hurt to get happy. You need to fall to rise. Life’s too short for limitations. Put craziness in to live it!”

Ralfs Eilands – “Līdz Tas Būs Beidzies”

Ralfs Eilands was part of Latvia’s Eurovision 2013 act PeR, and also competed in Supernova 2022 with Mēs Jūs Mīlam. The singer’s new solo single is much more laidback than the entries he brought with those acts. “Līdz Tas Būs Beidzies” (“Until It’s Over”) is a jazzy offering with a chilled groove to it.

The song also comes with an English-language version, titled “Over”. The Latvian star sings: “Now we can ride until it’s over / Don’t you be so surprised girl, cos I told you / Yeah, this connection we have / This satisfaction we add / When the distance is vast, then we get closer”.

Basim – “Det Er Mig Der Står Herude Og Banker På”

“Det Er Mig Der Står Herude Og Banker På” (“It’s me standing out here knocking”) is a classic Danish hit, first released by Thomas Helmig in 1988. Despite that being four years before Basim was born, the Eurovision 2014 star grew up listening to the song at parties and family reunions. He’s now decided to release a cover of the song, bringing it to the modern times and hopefully making it an anthem for a whole new generation. The lyrics of the song see the protagonist standing outside their partner’s door as they try to ask for forgiveness: “It’s me standing out here knocking / And ask you to try to understand / I kissed her only on her cheek / Say it’s okay, and let me in”. It’s a theme that Basim says he personally connects with:

“I have f***ed up many times and have tried to come up with flowers and chocolates. That’s how it is, and then you have to correct it and learn from your mistakes and hopefully become a little more adult.”

Victor Crone – “Dynamite”

“Show me how you move with a vibe turned up / Show me what you do when the light burns out / Show me how to love in the darkest night / Cos our love is blowing up like dynamite”. Victor Crone’s relationship is at an explosive stage, with Estonia’s Eurovision 2019 star ready to light up the room. Sonically, his new single “Dynamite” is a polished and well-produced pop track that makes use of some electronic production.

PAENDA – POV

Austria’s PAENDA has dropped her new EP POV. There are five songs featured on the EP, including recent singles “I Don’t Wanna Know”, “Your Song” and “Upset”. The two new songs are “Say It” and “Got Myself”. The former has emotional verses mixed with an electronic post-chorus; meanwhile, the latter also builds into the chorus, utilising a blend of strings and danceable beats.

Aurela Gaçe & Eli Fara – “Babi im”

“To our dear fathers. For those we still have near, and for those who are your guardian angels today.” Albania’s Aurela Gaçe has released an ode to fathers across the globe. “Babi im” (“My father”) sees the Eurovision 2011 alumna singing alongside Eli Fara, with the pair providing a steady and gentle ballad. The music video features clips of fathers and their daughters.

Omar Naber – “Ogenj!”

Omar Naber’s new single has been more than 20 years in the making. After his friend wrote it all those years ago, the Slovenian singer has now brought it to life. “Ogenj!” (“Fire!) definitely has a throwback rock feel to it and there’s even a saxophone solo halfway through. The two-time Eurovision entrant sings about letting the spark inside of you flourish: “No one sees the flame in you / Who glows every day and is afraid of water / Watch the fire so you don’t die / Not to go out when it’s inside you”.

Jan Johansen & PMP – “Höst i Paris”

There’s nothing quite like “Höst i Paris” (“Autumn in Paris”). Jan Johansen plans on spending the season in the French capital along with musician PMP (Pelle Malmquist Project). They’ve come together for an ’80s-inspired rock ballad. Sweden’s Eurovision 1995 singer adds his vocals to the guitar accompaniment, which is also given a French flavour thanks to an added accordion.

Dian Solo – “Tonight”

Get ready to dance. DJ Dian Solo, who represented Bulgaria at Eurovision 2008 as part of Deep Zone Project, has released the new track “Tonight”. There are uncredited vocals from a vocalist who sings “Give it to me tonight”. Otherwise, the focus here is on the club-friendly beat that’s here to get the party started.

Anxhela Peristeri – “Vallëzim”

Anxhela Peristeri’s latest single is “Vallëzim” (“Dancing”). It’s a percussion-driven song with a romantic atmosphere to it – you could imagine it playing the background whilst a couple have an evening meal at a quaint restaurant. Speaking about the song, Albania’s Eurovision 2021 singer noted:

“Let’s start the most beautiful season of love and marriage together! Gifts for all those who will crown their love this year and who find themselves in this song!”

Sarit Hadad – “עכשיו התור לאהבה”

Sarit Hadad participated in Israel’s torch-lightning ceremony at the start of May, which marks the start of the country’s Independence Day. At the event, the Eurovision 2002 star sang “עכשיו התור לאהבה” (“Now it’s time for love”), which has previously been recorded by Arik Einstein and Eurovision 1991 star Uzi Hitman. Sarit’s rendition has now been made available on streaming platforms.

Gräce feat. Ronnie Romero – “Evergarden”

In addition to fronting Intelligent Music Project, Ronnie Romero also continues some solo work. Bulgaria’s Eurovision 2021 singer recently collaborated with band Gräce for the single “Evergarden”. It’s a punchy rock number in which Romero and Gräce’s Isra Ramos sing about forsaking the quest to reach salvation and creating their own garden instead: “Who’ll come to save us / If this world doesn’t give a damn? / If we don’t care, we don’t care? / Cause you know we’re far / So far from Heaven now”.

Which of these new songs is your favourite? Have we missed out on any? Do you have any artists you want to shout out to? Let us know in the comments.

Yeah they announced that the group will fall appart in September as it’s the end of their contract. They will still be doing some performance till November but that’s all. The producer said that the group Hurricane will still exist but with new members

That’s so stupid. They think the name and current subscribers are gonna boost the new lineup when in reality they are gonna be dragged through the mud. Sanja, Ivana and Ksenija are loved and there’s no way new members are gonna be as instantly accepted. I pity them already.
The only way I could maybe see it work would be if the guys from Klon waited a but and took the name but even that would be unlikely to succeed.
