The second charity telethon in support of Ukraine “Save Ukraine — #StopWar” to take place on May 29 in Berlin and Kyiv

On Sunday, May 29, the second charity telethon Save Ukraine — #StopWar will start simultaneously in the capital cities of Germany and Ukraine. The purpose of the event is to draw the attention of the world community to the dramatic events taking place in Ukraine and to raise funds for the purchase of medical equipment for healthcare institutions that provide medical assistance to the wounded and injured, including the purchase of surgical C-arm X-ray machines. The fundraising will be conducted through the United24 global initiative. All donations will be automatically transferred to the accounts of the National Bank of Ukraine, assigned to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

It is symbolic that the event will take place specifically on May 29 — the Day of Kyiv, and will be dedicated to the brave Ukrainian resistance during the three months of indomitable struggle against the Russian Federation. The organizers of the event emphasize that Kyiv is the heart of Ukraine and the capital of freedom, which has never been and cannot be conquered. That is why viewers all over the world must remember that this is the cradle of Europe and the place where our history began. The key messages of the project are #Stoprussia, #StandWithUkraine, #StopWar, #SaveUkraine, #BeBraveLikeUkraine, #CapitalOfBravePeople.

The artists will perform live from Kyiv and also its sister city Berlin. It is there, near the Brandenburg Gate, where the stage will be located. Among the participants of the event will be Okean Elzy, Tina Karol, The Hardkiss, MONATIK, Beissoul & Einius, Antytila, ONUKA, alyona alyona, and many others. Also, the winners of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 — Kalush Orchestra band who astonished the entire world with the song “Stefania” and brought Ukraine such an important and desirable victory on the cultural front — will become the special guests of the event.

During the two-hour broadcast which will be rebroadcast by TV channels in about 20 countries in Europe and around the world, as well as on streaming platforms and social media, political leaders, musicians, artists, public activists, actors, athletes, volunteers from all over the globe will communicate with the multimillion audience calling on to support Ukraine. On the occasion of the event, Ukrainians and local residents in many countries around the world will gather to watch the TV marathon.

How to watch the Save Ukraine: #StopWar telethon

The broadcast will be available for viewers from all over the world on the YouTube channels of 1+1 and Atlas Festival, as well as on the international versions of TV channels, 1+1 International in particular.

Same as last time, the graphic symbol of the TV marathon, which serves as a foundation for all the project’s visual communication, is a sunflower created by Ukrainian artist Daniel Skripnik.

It should be recalled that the first telethon Save Ukraine — #StopWar took place on March 27 in Warsaw. During the TV marathon, more than EUR 1.2 million were raised through joint efforts to solve the most acute humanitarian problems caused by the war of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. At the same time, more than 30 TV channels around the world have broadcasted the project simultaneously, and the average rating of the TV channels viewing during the telethon was higher than usual in this slot. Thus, the telethon has become the most large-scale broadcast in the history of television!

In total, around 80 million people worldwide watched the live broadcast of the telethon. We have united all continents. Residents of more than 50 cities and capitals took to the streets to support Ukraine and join the telethon. 30 world political leaders appealed to Ukrainians and the international community. More than 17 million people were united by a communication campaign in the media and on social networks.

Interesting to see Monatik among the list as well. I still fondly remember him opening the 1st semifinal of ESC 2017 (underrated year generally)
