It’s the biggest event on the UK musical calendar. And later this month, two legendary Ukrainian Eurovision acts will take to the stage at the iconic Glastonbury Music Festival — Eurovision 2016 winner Jamala and Eurovision 2020 and 2021 stars Go_A.

Jamala on Saturday 25 June

The “1944” singer will perform on the Toad Hall Stage in the early hours of Saturday morning. Her set runs from 02:00 to 03:00. Announcing the news of her appearance, Jamala wrote: “I will be closing the Toad Hall stage of the legendary British festival on June 25. Really looking forward to this show – to play with my band again, to perform new music. The line-up also includes Ukrainian artists Go-A and DakhaBrakha. 💙💛”.

Amid Russia’s brutal war in Ukraine, Jamala has become a Ukrainian cultural ambassador, travelling throughout Europe to sing for peace and humanitarian assistance. Her mission has seen her appear at national finals in Germany and Romania, join Ed Sheeran, Camilla Cabello and others for a TV fundraiser in Birmingham and perform at Eurovision preview events in Barcelona and Madrid.

Go_A on Saturday 25 June

The “Solovey” and “SHUM” hitmakers will take to the John Peel Stage at 11:30 on Saturday morning. They’ll play until 12:15. The band write: “It is a great honor for us that the Ukrainian song and our appeal to the world will be heard from the stage, which attracts the attention of the world’s largest media and viewers from all countries. We look forward to meeting you! Let’s create a music history together!”

Like Jamala, Go_A have been working hard to maintain awareness of the war in Ukraine. The band’s frontwoman Kateryna Pavlenko performed “Imagine” before an Italian Serie A football game in April. The group is also embarking on a European tour which includes dates in London, Helsinki and Rotterdam.

Go_A work great for festivals, great energy and the crowd will love them. OMG I love how Go_A are still enjoying success after Eurovision. After Maneskin and Barbara Pravi, Go_A had great career opportunities. They’re also doing a show in London which is almost sold out. Not sure about Jamala performing there as she doesn’t seem to fit the festival’s mood but let’s see… she’s been using the war in Ukraine as a second career for her. I know I sound mean but what I mean is that she’s travelling everywhere saying the same stuff and singing the same song. She… Read more »

Tons of performers go having only one well-known song. Festival goers then have the chance to discover a new artist they weren’t so familiar with.

Hence they have a setlist of what songs from their respective discographies they will perform. 🙂

I can understand why Go_A, they’re great, but that other lady is very unpleasant and unlikeable person with crappy music nobody listen to

I just read all the acts on the Glastonbury website. Two other Eurovision-related ones are Brian Kennedy, and 1988 interval act, Hothouse Flowers. Not counting future ones like Charli XCX and Sigrid.
