Ever since the unfortunate cancellation of Eurovision 2020, song contest organisers have required broadcasters to film backup performances in case an act can’t make it to the stage in May. Now, the EBU is releasing almost all of the Live On Tape recordings for Turin 2022.

The recordings are being released on the official Eurovision channel across a period of 10 days and the publication schedule is following the semi-final running orders. Today, Thursday 16 June, we’re getting two more songs from semi-final one — Portugal’s Maro and Croatia‘s Mia Dimšić. The Netherlands’ S10 and Moldova’s Zdob și Zdub and Advahov Brothers have been skipped over. The former delegation had already confirmed that they would not be releasing their Live On Tape. It appears that Moldova also decided to keep their backup in the vault.

The remaining acts will follow over the coming days.

I really wonder why Croatia decided to change their presentation… In my opinion everything looks better on this live on tape : the choreography is more eye-catching and memorable, Mia’s outfit and posture feel more natural… Even her hairstyle looks better to me ! It’s unfortunate that they made all these changes, I really enjoyed her song but the final performance wasn’t appealing to me.

I agree with what you said about Mia’s ESC performance. There was an outcry about the dancing routine not being compatible with Mia’s performance in the Croatian NF so I think that’s why they changed the staging. I believe that the dancing during the NF performance should have been better but the staging in the ESC SF was also not to my liking. And that’s a shame because I really like the song.

Wasn’t the issue this dancer from the national final couldn’t go to Torino during the live shows? Some people said he distracted from the song but I felt that the 3 people in Torino distracted even more

I am not sure about what happened with the dancer. I agree with you about the Torino performance. I voted for Croatia in the semi and I was sad they didn’t make it but the performance could have been a lot better. None of the two performances did the song justice imo with the NF one being perhaps a bit better.

Honestly I was looking forward to S10’s because I feel like the staging at Eurovision was just okay, kind of a let down, especially after she premiered the song using amazing staging. If they had used the horizontal blue and red lights, I think it would’ve made more of an impact

As I see it, The Netherlands isn’t releasing the live-on-tape performance because it was better than the one we saw in Turin.

How do you know that it was if nobody but the broadcaster has seen it?

Seriously, S10 looked absolutely stunning on Torino’s stage, the arena was touched, humming along, and it all came across perfectly on tv. If there are some winners from this years staging that’s The Netherlands indeed.

Hhehe, from what I could read last year, Maro (as well as the Black Mamba) recorded the LiveOnTape right after winning Festival da Cançao. That means, around 1 am!!
Same as Croatia did this year. HRT didn’t bother taking out the graphics from DORA.
So, looks like we won’t see tapes from Ukraine, Netherlands, Moldova, CzechRepublic, anyone else??

Both of today’s live on tapes look lovely! 🙂
On the other hand, I wonder why both the Netherlands and Moldova chose not to release their tapes 🙁

Czech Republic decided not to as well. Considering two of those songs did pretty well, I guess it was just a matter of preference as opposed to Ireland and the UK last year.

I understand, but what I wonder is, what made them prefer not to?
