Ever since the unfortunate cancellation of Eurovision 2020, song contest organisers have required broadcasters to film backup performances in case an act can’t make it to the stage in May. Now, the EBU is releasing almost all of the Live On Tape recordings for Turin 2022.

The recordings are being released on the official Eurovision channel across a period of 10 days and the publication schedule is following the semi-final running orders. Today, Sunday 19 June, we’re getting three songs from semi-final two — Israel’s Michael Ben David, Serbia’s Konstrakta and Malta’s Emma Muscat. The remaining acts from semi-final two and the Big Five will follow over the coming days.

Eurovision 2022 Live On Tape Performances

Israel’s Michael Ben David – “I.M”

Serbia’s Konstrakta – “In corpore sano”

Malta’s Emma Muscat – “I Am What I Am”

Michael’s performance here is much better than the semi-final, especially with the catchy, older beat. Malta is pleasant too, Emma is a great singer, and she isn’t out of breath here, unlike with all of the movement in the semi-final.

Malta was the only one to look forward to in my eyes, as the others were sure to just repeat their NF performance. (Curious how Israel used the pre-revamped version though) but yeah, Malta’s was OK at best.

Israel filmed this right after the X-Factor final. It’s the X-Factor set. The revamp was made much later.

simple stagings no surprises there. Israel recorded after the national final, it seems.

Serbia is the same as the national final performance.

Malta’s interesting, simple performance with no dancers.

So weird that the Dutch delegation decided not to release their live-on-tape. I was very curious because I was underwhelmed with their Turin staging.

It’s incredible how “clean” the Serbia’s performance is. I really think that the PZE looked much better than the actual Eurovision in Turin xD

Just noticed that Armenia has taken theirs down. Very strange. Has anyone seen it in the short time it was available.

I did. It was a simple staging with writing on the LED walls. The ESC version is far better but the LoT is also Really beautiful : )

I hope Georgia releases theirs. That’s THE one I’d like to see.

The article sub-heading “from banger to ballad” has me so confused. These are all midtempo, too energetic to be ballads, but not what I’d call bangers.
Points for alliteration though.

the live tape of Israel is with the previous version of the song…. Regardless, Michael Ben David remains one of the worst representatives ever, glad Israel will send a professional that wont throw masks out of peoples faces and kiss them without their consent
