He topped the jury vote at Eurovision 2022, ultimately taking the United Kingdom to a glorious second place finish in Turin with “SPACE MAN”.

But that’s most definitely not the end for Sam Ryder, who has today released his Eurovision follow-up single “Somebody.”

The Essex-based star keeps the good feelings alive in the upbeat track, which is all about celebrating those you love and spreading positivity. As he sings in the chorus:

So if you’ve got somebody
Let ’em know that they got somebody
Little love never hurt nobody, hey
So you use your light and shine it like crazy
We got one life, let’s make it amazin’

Somebody! Sam Ryder releases Eurovision follow-up single

The quirky video sees Sam in motion, sipping lemonade, dancing on tables and jumping off balconies. Our man is always smiling, whether getting his hair cut or performing group choreography on a street filled with vintage cars.

Wearing a taupe jumpsuit embellished with space art, he struts and sways and channels joy at every turn. He (and maybe a stunt double) also do some very impressive flips. His long hair seems to act as an anchor around which that body can hop right over. Like a shooting star, he lights it up!

On Friday morning Sam took to Instagram to thank his fans for their kind words about the song, which dropped at midnight BST.

“I just wanted to jump on here very quickly, and very bleary-eyed to say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that’s been listening, sending encouragement and good vibes for the new tune ‘Somebody’ that came out last night.”

“None of this — none of it happens without you — and that’s what makes releasing music so cool. And I’ve been pacing around muttering to myself thinking about that phrase ‘releasing music’ and why that phrase is so cool as well.”

“And I think it’s because it reminds us to relinquish a certain amount of control and let go of our expectations. Because at the end of the day we are releasing music, right, and everything that goes with it.”

“And over the last few years — and this year in particular — I’ve really been resonating with that idea that expectation is limitation and that life is wonderful enough and capable enough of springing up magic without us having to lay down the boundary lines, the pathways and the routes through our expectation.”

“Anyway, I love ya, have an amazing day and I’ll see you all soon.”

Are you loving the new song? What do you think of the music video? Let us know down below!

It is super, but I hoped it would do better than it has so far. Instead, we’ve got another Elton John cut and paste at the top of the charts.

Not many noticed so much blue and yellow in the spaceman video, thought I just imagining it, but we can see here the taupe jump suit got a big ukraine flag on it too.

Thank you Sam Ryder, for everything, such a legend.

Not for me and that’s okay. His voice really suits a rock/metal sound so if he heads back that direction I’ll be waiting.

He clearly is destined for stardom. I think it would take some proper sabotage for this to not become a hit at least in the UK.

Such a fun, feel-good, summery song and music video. Sam is no one-hit wonder! It makes me think of George Ezra-type songs, with Sam’s own personality shining through. Looking forward to his upcoming album. (PS. He had 2 stunt doubles)
