As the wait to learn the Eurovision 2023 host city enters its final hours, the Eurofandom is busy reading the tea leaves and scouring the Internet for clues.
On Friday morning, Twitter user MatthewwJoyce shared an image of Olly Murs’ 2023 U.K. tour dates, which have just been published. They show he’ll be in Glasgow on 21 April and Liverpool on 6 May.
The assumption, that Eurovision will be held in May as usual, seems to indicate to many that Glasgow has secured the gig. The EBU requires that the host venue be free for six weeks before the show to allow for the installation and construction of the stage and its surroundings.

It’s going to be #Glasgow, because:
Olly Murs just announced a tour date for Liverpool on 6th May. That wouldn’t be enough time to get the Arena ready for #Eurovision.

Of course, this could mean nothing. Glasgow’s date doesn’t fall within that six-week window either, even if it definitely has more of a cushion.
Concerts are cancelled all the time after the Eurovision dates are revealed and the venue chosen. Little Monsters in the Netherlands will remember that Lady Gaga was meant to perform the night of the grand final in Rotterdam and had to reschedule.
And maybe Eurovision will be held much later this year, given that the BBC didn’t have the full year to plan (owing to the war in Ukraine).

Curiously, the M&S Bank Arena — Liverpool’s proposed venue — has also been hyping the Olly Murs tour date. Some fans have suggested that that’s a case of sour grapes to do so on the day the host city is revealed. This, of course, assumes that they’ve already been told whether they’re hosting or not.
But it’s also possible that they remain in the dark like the rest of us and are proceeding, like good business people, as normal. Perhaps they secretly hope the Eurovision news will force them to reschedule soon enough.
Still others have amusingly suggested that Olly may be the interval act or host of Eurovision in a grand final set for May 6 in Liverpool. We’ll see soon enough.

Honestly, who the F cares? Just pick a city already!
Neither Liverpool nor Glasgow have the time to build the stage organise the arena and have the rehearsals then the live shows. A month to build the stage then two weeks for rehearsals and shows. Plus Andre Rieu’s site has stopped advertising the Liverpool show but the Glasgow one is still being advertised.
Now stepping off topic for a moment: Chanel’s record deal negotiations have reportedly ended with her ditching BMG and signing with Sony; debut album expected for early 2023.
My best guess is either at least one of those dates is not final, or Eurovision might be held earlier or later than usual next year.
He can’t have a concert on April 21 either
If anyone’s concerts are cancellable, it’s Olly Murs.
Even if the cities know who’s hosting, which is doubtful, do the tour companies and artists – no. So, until they know otherwise, they will promote their tour dates as usual.
This says nothing. In 2020 the Rotterdam Ahoy team only got to know they would host eurovision on the day of announcement and every year ebents get moved or scrapped to make room for eurovision. If we go out from a preparation date of 6 weeks his concert date at ovo hydro is just as problematic.
