He won Eurovision 2019 with the most points of any act. She won Eurovision 2022 in terms of streams, obliterating the competition as her sleeper hit “SNAP” woke up the entire world. And now Duncan Laurence and Rosa Linn have come together in the brooding, emotional duet “WDIA (Would Do It Again).”

The song recounts the emotional aftermath of a breakup. Loneliness, sadness, regret — Rosa and Duncan plunge those depths wondering if the other still thinks of them. Things obviously didn’t work out. But there’s a shared sense that they’d live through the horrors again if it means they can be together: “If I could go back, chasing what we had, straight through the pitch black, I would do it again.”

That, sadly, is sung in the past tense, suggesting the opportunity has passed.

The lyric video dropped on Friday and shows Rosa Linn alone on the beach. The endless ocean connotes her isolation, while its waves lend a meditative quality as she has a major self-reckoning. Duncan does not appear. He is no longer in her life, so memories of his voice and melodies are all she can cling to.

If you attended the most recent Wiwi Jam in Turin, Italy, you’ll likely recognise Rosa’s shirt. She wore the same blue and aqua top at our live concert during Eurovision. The print resembles an aquascape you might find at the bottom of the ocean or a freshwater lake. it’s fitting. Just like water, our girl continues to give us life.

WDIA (Would Do It Again) lyrics — Rosa Linn and Duncan Laurence

Time didn’t change me
But what about you?
I think of you lately
And I wonder if you do
If you try to erase me
Do I kill you in ways that kill me too?

‘Cause I’ll take all the pain, all the bruises and blame
And repeat it ’til I go insane

If I could go back
Chasing what we had
Straight through the pitch black
I would do it again
You pull me inside
Into your riptide
Under a landslide
But I would do it again

I was a child
Imitating a woman
Caught in the wild
And you trained me what to do
And I was chained to the feeling
The sickness, the habit
The highs and the tragic
The depths that you fall to for love

And I’ll take all the pain, shoot it inside my veins
And repeat it ’til I go insane

If I could go back (Go, go back)
Chasing what we had (We, we had)
Straight through the pitch black (Pitch black)
I would do it again (Again, again, again)
You pull me inside (In, inside)
Into your riptide (Rip, riptide)
Under a landslide (Landslide)
I would do it again, I would do it again, yeah

I would
Lie to myself just to make you the truth
I would
Run through the flames to get closer of you
I would

If I could go back (Go, go back)
Chasing what we had (We, we had)
Straight through the pitch black (Pitch black)
I would do it again (Again, again, again)
You pull me inside (In, inside)
Into your riptide (Rip, riptide)
Under a landslide (Landslide)
I would do it again, I would do it again, yeah, I would

Finally everyone understood what an amazing singer Rosa Linn is. Before the Final she was my #2. I’m proud that I discovered her talent long before everyone made a hype around her 😉
The Duet is amazing. Really perfect harmony. Love it!

I want to like it but I expected more from these two artists. There are lots of great songs like this such as Cian Durcot and Ella Henderson “All for You”, the obvious Olivia Rodrigo “Driver’s License” and countless Adele songs. It comes acrosss as a bit emotionless for me.

I just read an article that says: “Columbia Records was one that came calling. They’d been made to feel confident by the success of “Snap””… ?!? Yes you signed her because she had a viral song that’s it. This one is flopping but has good playlist support thanks to her label.

It’s a wonderful song. Very autumn, melancholic. So proud of Rosa and how far she’s come.

One of the best winners associated with the most successful girl of this Esc 2022, let’s go! The Netherlands and Armenia can be proud.
And in fact I think The Netherlands will win Junior Eurovision this year in Armenia, we don’t know all the others songs, but it’s my feeling and my wish, The Netherlands deserves a jesc victory, one of the countries if not the country most passionated about the Jesc.

Their voices go really beautifully together. Rosa really shines on her solos though.

This to me this sounds really fishy and just capitalizing on their respective social media success in a desperate move to keep relevant… Very sad story, really… (sadder for Duncan, that is old enough to know better…)

So far it’s only entered the Netherlands iTunes chart and no Apple Music. It will get Spotify streams because her record label got it added to worldwide New Music playlists but whether it sustains that remains to be seen.

What a beautiful duet. The voices fit perfect together.

It would be better as a solo song their voices don’t suit and I don’t like the lyrics about taking the bruises and pain if they could be together again. It’s kinda dumb.

I think their voices are lovely together, but they aren’t enough to save the dull production. The lyrics are very dark. I hope that was intentional and not meant to be romanticized, but given the title, maybe not.
