Junior Eurovision 2022 is getting very real and very close. After doing very well in the contest for some years now, France will be hoping to keep their form at this year’s event in Yerevan. Taking up that challenge is 13-year-old Lissandro, who will sing “Oh Maman!” (“Oh Mum!”).

France in Junior Eurovision 2022: Lissandro with “Oh Maman!”
Lissandro hails from Moselle, a small town in the east of France. Since the age of five, the young singer has been passionate about music and his parents have always supported his desire to sing. Lissandro speaks no less than five languages, and also does dubbing for TV series and cartoons. In the future, he wants to become a speech therapist.
He enjoys a wide variety of music, from Elvis Presley to Bruno Mars. Lissandro’s love for the King of Rock and Roll came to the forefront when he participated in The Voice Kids France in 2020. Blown away by his energetic interpretation of Presley’s “Too Much”, the four judges all turned their seats around, even leaving their podium to dance. This performance earned him the nickname of Elvissandro. Under the guide of Jenifer Bartoli, Lissandro made it all the way to the final.
Lissandro was internally selected to represent France at Junior Eurovision 2022. He considers Junior Eurovision the adventure of a lifetime: “I am very proud and honoured to represent France with my song ‘Oh Maman!’ A pop and rock universe that I have always loved! And what a pride to be part of the wonderful Eurovision family. I will give my best to make France’s colours shine.”
Alexandra Redde-Amiel, head of the French delegation for Junior Eurovision, said she was thrilled to have Lissandro on board: “We are happy to welcome Lissandro in the big family of Junior Eurovision. A young artist full of talent to defend the colours of France in Armenia on December 11th. With his song ‘Oh Maman!’, Lissandro arrives with his pop and rock universe, a delicious mix between Bruno Mars and Elvis which will make Europe groove!”
What do the “Oh Maman!” lyrics mean?
The lyrics of “Oh Maman!” see Lissandro delivering a message of perseverance. They explain that you must believe in yourself no matter what happens and no matter what others think. Nothing should stop us.
I step on stage, nothing stops me
Not the nos, nor the what are you doing, stop!
I take my guitar, I’m not afraid of anything
I’m a star for a chorus
One perceives through these words something personal to Lissandro. Indeed, the reference to his parents is also a way to thank them, because they have always supported him in his desire to sing and have contributed to the confidence he has today.
A little bit of magic, everything becomes possible
I touch infinity, I feel invincible
Oh Mum, Oh Dad
If you knew what is happening in my head
Oh Mum, Oh Dad
Try, you’ll see it’s so stupid

Il y a une petite faute, dans la chanson de Lissandro «Oh maman», la dernière parole devrait être : J’fais ma star, je fais ma star, « devant le miroir de ma chambre » mais pas « comme dans le miroir de ma chambre.»
France had a good entry, but I am not sure why they won. There were better competitors out there, eg. Spain, Poland, Armenia, Georgia etc…
He looks like Sheldon Riley, but as a kid!
Out of interest, what cartoons has he dubbed over?
I like him a lot! He’s a great performer.
However, I’m ready for France to do something a little different and offer a bit of a different approach to JESC. Just think they know how to do this style of entry and have shown that enough already.
This is actually my favorite song, Lissandro has this very strong personality that fits jesc perfectly. It stands out and feels jesc more than any other song, he’s just a kid with a dream.
The worst in that is even if Lissandro manages to be successful like Enzo last year he will get hatred instead of congratulations not like the others. I mean in 2020 the fandom had decided that Spain, Kazakhstan, Belarus or Poland should win, they didn’t want Valentina to win, they never want France to win btw, but at the end they didn’t and she won and instead of to be happy for her, to congratulate her like all the others winners normally no this fandom screamed everywhere that it wasn’t deserved and add to that the useless polemics, results France… Read more »
Unique and good song. Most JESC songs this year are well done. Even songs toward my bottom of my ranking are nice to listen to.
I know everybody in this fandom doesn’t care as it’s France so it’s not important but the lyrics “c’est tout bête” means “it’s very easy” not “it’s stupid”, “it’s stupid” doesn’t make sense with the rest of the lyrics.
Ari – I think the JESC could become more publicity with the growing quality of the songs and the level they are now on (same level as the adult ESC) …but the costs are way lower for the delegations and smaller countries have the chance to shine (like North Macedonia, Armenia, Georgia …). I think in the future the JESC will grow.
Great singer and performer and the song + video are well made ….but it doesn’t “klick” for me. I prefer songs like the songs from UK, Georgia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Spain, Italy and The Netherlands ….. but hey, if you like this song it is good.
I agree! There were better entries out there!
Good luck to him, he has everything to be successful. As always, as each years, this jesc fandom is disgusting and unbearable towards France, a tradition I guess, some countries always get love and some countries always get hate and are underrated why? Only this biased fandom has the answer, it was the same comedy with Enzo last year….this fandom is sick… the jesc mood is weird and kind of unhealthy, this online voting has created some overly patriots and it’s ugly. It helps to create fake hype when a country has a big jesc fandom , so forcefully we… Read more »
that is not true Esc addict …. Valentina (2020) and Angelina (2018) were my TOP 1 and Top 2 (Roxy Wegiel was my #1 that year). Maybe it is the kind of song that we fans don’t love. It is hard to say why the audience prefer other songs. For me Ireland was underrated 2019 ….I had it all the time in my top 3 but the staging was not the best to support that song (banshee).
It is unfortunately and Valentina and Enzo keep getting hate from this fandom. The kind of songs that the fans love is so predictable. Maybe you had Valentina 1st but never during the pre contest she was among the favorites, that year everybody was overhyping Belarus, Poland and Spain….it just shows the bias of the fans. Last year Enzo was very underrated before the contest and ended very well, but it was Armenia, Poland and Spain who were the favorites again, getting all the love by the eurofans, anyway 80% of these junioreurofans are biased IMO, and it’s partially because… Read more »
This is by far the best I’ve heard so far. The only problem being that it won’t get the adult vote, which of course shouldn’t matter, but sadly does.
Is there any article about Polish entry at JESC 2022? 🙂
