Benidorm Fest 2023

Ho, ho, ho! All 18 songs from Spain’s Benidorm Fest 2023 will drop on December 19. That’s what you call a Feliz Navidad.

RTVE broke the news on Thursday, and as usual, Twitter exploded. That was not a joke about Elon Musk. Fans are calling the date a smart move.

Many fans noticed the songs will drop the day after the World Cup finale. RTVE is broadcasting it, and yesterday played Spain’s Junior Eurovision song Señorita during the interval. Almost 5 million people saw it and it was just the first match. Here’s what Director of Programming José Pablo López said:

It wouldn’t be a surprise if RTVE used one of the most watched events of the year to promote the Benidorm Fest entries.

Benidorm Fest 2023: Song titles

  •  Agoney – “Quiero arder” (I want to burn)
  • Alfred – “Desde que tú estás” (Since you’re here)
  • Alice Wonder – “Yo quisiera” (I would like to)
  • Aritz Arén – “Flamenco”
  • Blanca Paloma – “EaEa”
  • E’FEMME – “Uff!”
  • Famous – “La Lola”
  • Fusa Nocta – “Mi Familia” (My family)
  • José Otero – “Inviernos en Marte” (Winters in Mars)
  • Karmento – “Quiero y duelo” (I want and I hurt)
  • Megara – “Arcadia”
  • Meler – “No nos moverán” (They won’t move us)
  • Rakky Ripper – “Tracción” (Traction)
  • Sharonne – “Aire” (Air)
  • Siderland – “Que esclati tot” (Let it all explode)
  • Sofía Martín – “Tuki”
  • Twin Melody – “Sayonara”
  • Vicco – “Nochentera” (The whole night/Eightees night. It’s a play on words)

Also, if you didn’t get a ticket for Benidorm Fest, stay tuned. RTVE will be giving away some in Christmas.

By the way, new song released today, done together by Alfred (2018) and Miki (2019). Worth to listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9d1WGLRjhCM

The song is a song we agree on that point but well you know… It is kinda Boring and pfff. And unfortunately i understand the lyrics and It is just a bunch of words put together to sound nice. I dont have high expectations for Alfred.

I Will try to be unbiased even though my favourite last year was Blanca Paloma and her performance at the candidates presentation was the best by far… I know It is all about the song, It is all about the song, It is all about the song.

OT, but the submissions for Dora 2023 have been record-breaking, with almost 200 songs submitted. Many famous people have publically said that they have submitted a song. Three former representatives will try again: Damir Kedžo (Divlji vjetre – Croatia 2020), Igor Cukrov (Lijepa Tena – Croatia 2009) and Daniel Popovic (Džuli – Yugoslavia 1983). Aside them, the aspiring partcipants include famous songwriter and performer Ibrica Jusic, established singer Siniša Vuco (with a song co-authored by the late great Arsen Dedic), host and celebrity Vlatka Pokos, and also Eni Jurisic, Meri Andrakovic, Lea Deklava, among others. That doesn’t mean that all… Read more »

Damir definitely deserves a second chance Since his eurovision opportunity was cut short Due to Covid. Let’s hope he gets picked for Dora 2023.

i love it when all songs are dropped on the same day, it’s always an experience to listen to a national selection’s options all together and do the first ranking!

Do not forget, Spaniards, be open to explore new music. I told you Chanel will prove it’s good to take the risk. Now, don’t sleep on your luck with another 50 years of melancholic ballads and the Bottom-5 positions as an outcome!

It will be 54 years in Spain last won and they are long overdue for it.

I really hope so! I love when countries take a risk to send something what may seem uncomfortable at first, but is actually a complete bop. My dream is to see at least one Eurovision edition where Swedish radio-friendly-plastic is non-existent. 2020 and 2022 were so close, brilliant!

She will be happy to qualify to the Final and reach her 2022 position. I still find it unbelievable “Secreto de agua” came 5th surpassing “Quién lo diría”, “Eco” and “Raffaella”.

Hopefully they’ll pick a decent song instead of a glorified dance routine this time…
