The running order for Junior Eurovision 2022 is now complete. The 16 competing acts now know in what position they’ll perform during Sunday’s show.
In the interest of fairness, the opening and closing positions were drawn at random at the opening ceremony on Monday evening. The Netherlands’ Luna will be first out with her song “La Festa”, surely getting the party going with a bang. The final act to perform will be Zlata Dziunka from Ukraine, who sings “Nezlamna (Unbreakable)”.
Host country Armenia also randomly drew their position. Nare will sing in penultimate spot 15, just before Ukraine.
The rest of the running order is decided by the contest’s producers in order to create the most exciting and logistically-feasible show possible — balancing genre and the ease of resetting props throughout the show.

Does the running order matter at JESC?
If you believe in statistics then yes, it does.
In the 19-year history of Junior Eurovision, only three songs from the first half have managed to win the contest — Croatia 2003, Georgia 2008, and most recently Armenia 2021.
If you are lucky enough to draw the second half then the closing slot has a very strong chance of victory. It has six wins: Belarus 2005, Russia 2006, Belarus 2007, Georgia 2016, Poland 2018 and France 2020. In the 2010s, Malta (twice), Russia, Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine all won from slots in the last five.
What do you think of the running order for Junior Eurovision 2022? When will your favourite perform? Sound off in the comments below.
Has Ukraine been put last because of the war? Are they winning the Junior this time? I hope they don’t shatter the other contestants’ dreams again.
Ukraine was picked to perform last by random draw.
The Netherlands and Ukraine were randomly drawn to open and close Junior Eurovision respectfully. That’s the risk when you do it by random draw— You never know what you’re gonna get for those spots. Armenia’s placing was also done by random draw.
no matter what u think about armenia and ukraine’s placing, the rest is still pretty weird (spain and uk, portugal and serbia next to each other)
There are too many genre clusters in this running order.
Good luck to everyone! Hope Armenia doesn’t win again. We’re short of finances. Moreover, after wars I do not enjoy this type of celebrations in Armenia.
Well if you don’t enjoy, it does not mean the celebration is not good and worthy
Somehow I wish Albania will win.. the song is just too beautiful
Words cannot express how much I am fed up and tired of Ukraine, Zelensky, virtue signalling and NPCs.
What are NPCs?
I wouldn’t expect empathy from a conquistador, so I’m not surprised.
words cannot express how much i am fed up with spanish fans hating ukraine because chanel didn’t win
Ukraine will win anyway.
That’s a joke… really the Netherlands first (one of the biggest contenders to win) and Ukraine last??? Girl singing about a war (Completely not political) to close the show? It Looks EBU wants one country to win.. Poland 2nd (the worst place according to statistics) in a second year in a row???? It Looks EBU really wants the 20th edition to be the last one – I assume 8 countries would take party next year:)))
the running order is far less important in JESC than ESC. from slot #2, georgia last year got 4th place, kazakhstan got 2nd place in 2020, france got 5th in 2019… someone has to perform first, second, third, and so on. it’s not like the producers can just skip over it because of the supposed bad luck that comes with performing 2nd
Both of the Netherlands and Ukraine along with Armenia were drawn earlier in a livestream, so they were going to be in those places regardless of the draw (they do this every year). In terms of the other songs, I agree, I think its strange, I dont understand why songs of a similar genre are all performing together such as 5 of the first 6 bring child friendly uptempo songs. Whilst I dont love how they did the running order, The Netherlands ,Ukraine and Armenia were drawn before hand so they had no say in where they went and idm… Read more »
Easier to set up and dismantle props in-between performances?
That’s probably the reason for the running order, but still they could’ve broken up some of these genre clusters by switching things around.
Don’t forget Dino from Croatia won 2003 performing 2nd
All very convenient. The Netherlands, probably the biggest threat for Armenia first? Armenia conveniently having the best spot (second to last) and then Ukraine, who will already have a lot of sympathy votes, last? I know these places were drawn randomly but it’s rather unfortunate for me. Luna will be a great opener but with Armenia and Ukraine being the last two I feel like her chances of winning are rather low now. Perhaps the UK could take it, 12th is a great spot and it’s a winning worthy act. It’s all very unpredictable though since there are a lot… Read more »
Is the rehearsals only galleries or videos too? Where can I find the videos if they exist?
They gave their best to boost chance of Ukraine winning. This really has to stop. So basically Ukraine should be winning Eurovision until the war ends to male them feel happy? They’re just cheating all other countries that participate and spend their money during these hard times.
Ok I’ve read it was done randomly, but I’m still sceptic.
I at least hope they are smart enough to not give them a free win.
So the first thing that you’ve done was to write a comment about Ukraine and that they don’t deserve to win and only after that you’ve read the article? Shocked (not).
Even though I don’t give a * of the running order of JESC in general, I think this one is pretty bad. The running order of the Netherlands, Armenia and Ukraine were drawn at random so I won’t say anything about that. But don’t tell me that the rest is balanced. Lots of up-tempo songs in a row and then suddenly Portugal and Serbia one after the other? And the production decides to put Armenia in the middle of songs that have little chance of attracting public votes. It seems a bit fishy to me. Still good luck to all… Read more »
Yeah seems very unbalanced, idk why the put nearly all the uptempo songs together and the unique entries together, very strange.
maybe to help them stand out? Idk, it’s bizarre. Anyway, I can’t ignore that France did a similar thing of putting weaker songs near its own. oh well
By the way, when are we getting an interview with Zlata on war? That’s what William did with Kalush – why talking about music at Eurovision if we can talk about war?
Oh nice! Congrats to Wiwi on #16! Nice touch, in addition to already locking in the winning trophy.
Dear toxic Eurojerks,
Curse you. Stop shaming the running order or insisting that countries who aren’t fan favorites will win next Sunday. I highly doubt Ukraine will win because the lyrics of “Nezlamna” are too depressing. Either you respect the running order or don’t say anything.
No thanks,
Rebecca Leonard, a person who’s been curious about the Eurovision family of events over a decade
Bravo! The cynicism of some people is atrocious. And the number of downvotes on these comments – seriously?!
Honestly, UK eats everyone with eyes closed. Others are fighting for 2nd spot imo
No.
Yes. All-star quality is served by the young lady.
There are some allocations that don’t make sense (like 3 uptemo then 3 slower songs) but I think it’s probably not gonna change much
Well somebody has the rehearsals schedule or not? I mean I read Portugal will do his first rehearsal this morning and that Spain will do his first rehearsal wednesday morning that’s all I know, so if somebody has more informations….
It hasn’t been published. Clips are usually posted throughout the day, though.
Netherlands will find it tougher to win now, and Albania are screwed. Armenia and Ukraine did alright from this, though.
I think Albania was doomed from the start, so it didn’t matter where it would be placed. It could’ve easily been placed in the number two spot.
Armenia going 2nd to last with a song that people think could win it all? That’ll help. A lot.
I guess Poland got punished for the friendship with Azerbaijan ;p
Poland gave their 12 last year to Armenia. So I highly doubt it has anything to do with that…
I meant the jury debacle at adult ESC.
What happened at the adult esc? LOL.
Azerbaijan and Poland were among the six countries that were accused of cheating and voting irregularities in their juries.
it is the second year in a row where Poland performs as one of the first – that’s really weird
Well I guess the EBU really thought “screw Poland lmao” when assigning the running order slots. Armenia getting 15th out of a random pool is also incredibly lucky for them. They have the best chances now if I were to think. Still, I don’t think we should only look forward to the results of the contest. I will surely look forward to how every one of them will perform on stage. It’s gonna be a great show next Sunday anyway 🙂
I can see Ukraine winning the public vote…
UK should be in top 3
I don’t think Ukraine will win because the juries will find “Nezlamna” too depressing. That said, don’t be an ass.
um what did they say?
Come on Georgia!!! U can do this! Georgia or Uk for the win!
I would say look at last year top 4, they performed 9th, 3rd, 13th and 2nd out of 19 it means mainly from the first half so really this running thing order means nothing. It’s what happens on stage that is important and not WHEN it happens during the show. I’d love to see a winner from the first half and why not from the first or second spot to make stop all these useless myths about the running order.
*this running order thing
I’m still note downvoted? But wth…
Ah I was afraid it’s starting ty so much!
I gave your comment a “+” 🙂
😉
*afraid, it’s ….
Wiwi do something please, I would like to be able to correct my comment like it was possible before please!!!
Who on earth is downvoting every single comment?! It’s actually kind of funny
A bot, all these comments had +7 upvotes on average like an hour ago
That’s an IMPRESSIVE opening ceremony, mind ya.
Also from an Irish perspective, our running order position and the countries either side of us is giving me major déjà vu of 2019 when we were put beside one of the absolute favourites to win the entire thing. Let’s hope that we dont suffer the same fate.
This running order feels very strange. In the first 6 songs we only have one entry that is not a child friendly uptempo dance song. Its also very strange putting Spain and The UK beside each other as they are both uptempo songs with perhaps a bit more of a mature sound. I dont know why they put to very unique entries (Serbia and Portugal) beside each other, surely you’d put one of them between all the uptempo songs to make the dance songs have the chance to stand out because atm I think some of those songs in the first… Read more »
Who on earth in down voting every comment so much, some people have made some really good really interesting points and theyre getting down voted like significantly.
I wanted Kazakhstan or the Netherlands to win but now I don’t think that is possible. At this point I think the possible winners are Georgia, Armenia and Ukraine. I also think that either Spain or UK is gonna flop
You won’t know until rehearsals start tomorrow.
This draw is quite imbalanced imo, Malta, Italy and France are all quite upbeat and then suddenly we have three slower songs (going into three uptempo songs again). And then they surrounded Armenia with songs that aren’t big contenders for the win (Ukraine was random but still), and they placed other favourites close to each other. I think the Dutch chances of winning took a big hit as well, and Poland must be upset to draw #2 after getting #3 last year.
The running order of the winners from 2015 to 2021
2015 – 15th (Malta)
2016 – Last (Georgia)
2017 – 13th (Russia)
2018 – Last (Poland)
2019 – 11th (Poland)
2020 – Last (France)
2021 – 9th (Armenia)
2022 – Last? Following this trend, this year´s winner should be performing last? Which is Ukraine.
That would be funny, let me know what you think.
https://junioreurovision.tv/story/junior-eurovision-2022-running-order
all the ‘hyped songs’ in a bloc right before Serbia and Portugal!
Its pretty good
im actually hyped for netherlands opening but it looks really rigged, I mean the host country getting the best possible slot… a song with lyrics like ” Get ready for La Festa” well. What I’m also excited about is Ukraine closing the show, You all now know that Ukraine has increased their small chances of winning . and why is that? well partly obviously for the draw, but also becuz i always said that it will be so much better when the revamp got released and even better when performed live. So i see zlata even finishing in the top… Read more »
How is draw random if in the video we can see that the person who picks the papers for draw looks closely which paper to choose?
Because fans like to overthink and scrutinize the smallest of things.
I actually agree with you. It feels rigged. Worse is the juries that give lower points to the favorites just so they can win. Georgia always seems to do this.
Lmao “random” draw, yeah right.. The Netherlands getting 1st position in the running order with lyrics such as “Get ready for la festa” makes it seem a lot like the running order was planned way before, which it probably was.
And Ukraine ending the show with a power ballad carrying the message of war and a hope for peace preceded by host country Armenia singing an uptempo song. Doesn’t seem that random, now does it 😀
My ideal running order:
The Netherlands is a good opener
The people who already thought Ukraine would win the televote are screaming rn
Dance & Nezlamna have good contrast
Dance will probably do a bit better than expected with
That kind of random draw you don’t really believe was random
Rip us
You could still get a great position, even if it’s not first place.
