You saw the beauty and the majesty of Húsavík in the Netflix movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. And some of you may have been following along as the Eurovision Song Contest Exhibition came together in real life there. Well now the Museum’s founders are keen to improve the exhibition and they’re looking for volunteers who want to help.

Demand will obviously be high, so they’re staging a straightforward contest. If you’ve got ideas and a willingness to roll up your sleeves, you may find yourself in Húsavík with a room booked for you at the gorgeous Húsavík Cape Hotel at some point between January and April.

We’re pasting the full details from organisers below, along with instructions on how to enter the contest. Good luck!

Make Húsavík your Hometown for a week!

The Eurovision Song Contest Exhibition, established in our hometown HÚSAVÍK in 2021, was conceived as a temporary project, spanning from 2021 to 2023 and covering in total three summers. This means next summer will in theory be our last season of opening. That’s why we would love to make it very special, both for us and our guests. We aim at making our spaces nicer, richer and more colorful, in order for a visit to the Húsavík Eurovision Exhibition to be truly unforgettable. In particular, one of our goals is establishing an even stronger bond with the Eurovision community, dedicating a whole wall to the fans’ love for the contest, and to their memories. In this way, the Eurovision Exhibition experience will become more intimate and interactive.

That’s why we need you. If you have ideas, time and passion, this winter you can be part of the Húsavík Eurovision Exhibition’s team!

We are looking for volunteers willing to join us and make Húsavík their hometown for one, two or three weeks between January and April 2023. We are both interested in manual (building, installing, drawing) and creative (thinking, programming, suggesting) contributions. If you have one or more of these skills – and a genuine passion for the ESC – you can send us your proposal to [email protected].

How do you think you can make our exhibition better? What do you think is missing? Are you able to create using raw materials and little money? In which way can you help us promote our venue, possibly transforming our project from temporary to permanent?

Let us know by January 20th. We will select the best entries on January 30th and invite the proposers to Húsavík. We will provide a free stay for the whole length of the volunteering at Húsavík Cape Hotel, located next door to the Eurovision Exhibition. We will guide you in our Hometown, giving you insiders’ tips for your time in North-East Iceland. You only have to reach Húsavík and bring your energy. Together, we will work to make our Exhibition even more unique. We are waiting for you!

Palestine flag? However you feel about it, it’s part of Iceland’s Eurovision history.

Despite the movie itself being god awful in its entirety, the offer sounds really nice
