Her song “Honestly” recounts the pain of not knowing how to help a friend following the death of his dad. But if our readers have it right, then Ulrikke will be in a much cheerier mood this evening as she storms to victory in Semi-Final 1 of Melodi Grand Prix 2023.
We counted 2,372 votes and Ulrikke emerged as our readers’ clear favourite. Her song “Honestly” earned 950 votes — or more than 40% of all those cast.
“I really wanted to be there for him, but didn’t know how to best comfort and take care of him,” she says of the time after her friend’s father died. “I am sure lots of people are able to put themselves in the same situation, and I’m pretty sure most of us has felt the pain of losing someone close, or almost losing someone.”
Alessandra Mele (“Queen of Kings”) came second with around 25% of the vote, followed by Umami Tsunami (“Geronimo”) who earned 14%.
Only three acts can advance to the final. That means our readers would have eliminated the following artists: Kate Gulbrandsen, Rasmus Thall, Eirik Naess, and Byron Williams Jr & JOWST.
