Semi-final 2 of Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2023 is just a few hours away. We’ll be treated to performances by another seven acts, all hoping to claim one of three qualifier spots to the grand final.

After all seven songs were released at the start of the week, we asked y’all to vote for the acts you wanted to qualify.

We received 2,103 valid votes. And now we can give you the results…

Elsie Bay a favourite in Melodi Grand Prix 2023 semi-final 2

Scooping up a third of the vote is Elsie Bay with her ballad “Love You in a Dream”. She secured 33.67% of all those cast, which is 708 votes specifically.

Having made the top four at MGP 2022, she’s back for another attempt and this time aiming to go all the way. Based on these results, she hasn’t lost her fans from last year and is still a favourite amongst the acts of 2023 as well.

Finishing in second place is JONE. His entry “Ekko Inni Meg” (“Echo Inside Me”), with featured vocals from Silke, has become an instant hit with fans thanks to its catchy blend of techno beats and Norwegian lyrics. JONE was awarded with 489 votes — that’s 23.25% of the total.

If the results were up to y’all, the final qualifier spot would go to ELLA A. She’s bringing a booty-hypnotic sprinkling of Brazilian influences to keep our focus right on her, specifically on her “Waist”. In the poll, ELLA picked up 389 votes (18.50%).

Full results: Who should qualify from semi-final 2 of Melodi Grand Prix 2023?

  1. Elsie Bay – “Love You in a Dream” – 33.67%, 708 votes

By the way, I cannot see the hype with Elsie Bay. Ok her song is quality but very dramatic, repetitive (kind of), can’t see how I can like her song this year.

The Norwegian audience delivers. They always choose the best of each heat. Well done, Norge! I liked JONE and Swing it! I actually believe that the jazz act might go very high and might even do well in the actual ESC.

Waist. I don’t like this song. Like SloMo, the men backing dancers have trousers on, but the women not. Also, the word “huntress” should not exist anymore. You’re a hunter.

Juding from the comments I have seen in the last number of days, Sandra is certainly in with a chance of qualification. I want Elsie to qualify which I think can happen so then its up to Jone or Ella to take the last spot and I think Jone might do it.

Great choices for the top-3
Ella is one of my overall faves and I’m worried she might lose the spot to Sandra or someone else idk
Would love to see her qualify (not at the expense of Elsie and Jone tho)

I wouldn’t be surprised if the top three in this poll are the top three qualifiers.

I think Elsie is a sure qualifier but the other 2 spots are still up for grabs. I will be happy if Elsie and Sandra qualify as they are my favourite songs from this heat.

I am super excited for this Saturday-final. Very best wishes to Jone and Ella, they should have loads of confidence to go out there and smash it because they have excellent songs.

Elsie has proved that she is an excellent performer and has a good song, so I see her getting through quite easily. Sandra also has a very nice song which could be very powerful live.

The other songs haven’t connected with me as much but there is always chance to sparkle and surprise on the live stage so best of luck to everyone!

It will all come down to the staging, but I will say Sandra’s entry has been growing on me the most

I imagine Ella is going to miss out on a Finals Spot with Sandra’s song taking it instead, but otherwise in full agreement with Elsie and JONE in finals.

Ok song (not disputing that) … and yet … Yawn!!! … the Eurovision-Billie-Ellish-trend is getting repetetive and somewhat tedious … Let’s “Swing’It” tonight, Norway-MGP!

Elsie as Billie? I don’t see it, unless we’re applying that comparison to every young woman with the slightest arty/Gothic streak now.

So a singer who sings a dark ballad and doesn’t belt it is now automatically considered Billie Ellish?

Quite ridiculous, imo. Btw I do like Swing it’s song but I hate the continuous negativity surrounding ballads, sounds childish to me.

I didn’t listen to her song before, I listened to it now. I’m amazed. Norway has a really strong selection and it will be a nightmare when it will come to choose THE song for Liverpool.
