This time next week Benidorm Fest 2023 will be upon us. Spain will be searching for an act that can once again secure them a podium place finish at Eurovision.
Once all the songs from this year’s national final were released, we asked y’all to vote for your favourites. And vote you did – 6,272 valid votes were recorded in total.
After counting them up, we can now reveal the results…
Agoney is a favourite to win Benidorm Fest 2023
It was extremely tight at the top. Only two votes separated first and second place.
But in the end it was Agoney who managed to pull ahead. His song “Quiero arder” earned 1,044 votes, which is 16.65% of all those cast.
Agoney rose to fame on Operación Triunfo 2017. As part of his time on the show he participated in Gala Eurovisión, which was used to select Spain’s act for Eurovision 2018. Although he didn’t manage to win this, Agoney is now in Benidorm Fest 2023 with another shot at making it to the contest. And if our readers were to have their way, we would see him in Liverpool this May
Just being pipped to the post is Fusa Nocta. Her blend of flamenco and urban beats has captured the hearts of many. “Mi Familia” would be a new sound for Spain at Eurovision, but one that would also showcase the rich flavour of he country’s music scene.
In the poll, Fusa Nocta was awarded 1,042 votes – that’s 16.61% of the total.
The gap opens up a bit more as we move down the rest of the results. Taking the bronze medal is band Megara. Their entry “Arcadia” secured 661 votes (10.54%).
The top five is then rounded out by Alice Wonder’s “Yo quisiera” and Vicco’s “Nochentera”. They picked up 542 (8.64%) and 492 (7.84%) votes respectively.

Alice wonder has the best chance at Eurovision. I think her live vocal will stand out a lot
Don’t understand the hype for Fusa Nocta.
Her song is messy and the melody is so boring, the message about family is pretty good but already done plenty of time before.
If Spain chooses her I guess it’ll be fine since she is attractive
Is it true Wiwibloggs will be reporting on Benidorm Fest while simultaneously taking part in the jury?
I dont think the Spanish songs are ‘bad’ but they sound very different from what i have listened in other NFs.
Cinan your videos are great fun 🙂
I personally love Fusa Nochta and Karmento’s songs.
Both feel modern but also Spanish – if ya get me.
Mi Familia – has a Rosalia vibe and that is where Spanish music is going internationally atm. The younger voter will love this.
Agoney’s song is obviously the favourite but I think this sound had is shot a few years ago and would bottom at Eurovision tbh.
It’s quite interesting for me, as a Spaniard, see how Megara is very high in all the international rankings, but not in those made in Spain. I guess rock is a genre we do not appreciate as much as other countries do. I think my favourite ones are Fusa Nocta and Alice Wonder, very different from each other. But I cannot decide until I see the performances (next week already!). Another intesting fact is that Aritz is not high in either the international or the national surveys, while it is the favourite for the organization (RTVE). I am curious to… Read more »
By the way!! We have the members of the jury already, one of them is William!
No matter which song is chosen, Spain is going to return to the bottom 5. I am so disappointed with the songs this year.
No chance, Spain has got one great entry and a few other decent ones but also plenty of filler just to make up the numbers, it’s not up there with Portugal or even Finland.
I dont understand why people speak in such absolute terms when they are only stating their personal opinion.
Portugal >
It actually does
Can I just put it out there that Meler being bottom of this poll is a travesty and a sad indictment of the state of the human race. I can live with it not being a winner, but bottom? Really?
OMG! This is gonna FLOP sooo bad!
What is?
He is desperately looking for attention. Be kind
It really won’t
I think Agoney has the best shot at a high position out of the frontrunners. Yes, it’s like a Michael Ben David 2.0 but I think Agoney will do it much better since quiero arder is a much better song. I’ll put Megara in 2nd most likely to do well, simply because it’s such a high-risk high-reward song and it will need great staging to boost it even further. I think its great and would do well at eurovision but if Spain wants to back up Chanel’s result, Arcadia is a bit risky. I suppose quiero arder is also risky… Read more »
I hope Fusa Nocta represents Spain. It’s the only Spanish entry I listen to regularly. I don’t want another Michael Ben David!
Am I the only one here who finds Mi Familia just a bit messy and all over the place? Not exactly my favorite out of the bunch.
Anywho, my favorites in this year’s BeniFest are Aritz, E’Femme, Alice Wonder, and Jose Otero
No you’re not the only one who finds Mi Familia messy.
I think it is between Alice Wonder and Fusa Nostra. I’m sure Alice is going to keep it live and with the right staging she will blow us away
I do not understand the minus points to this opinion.
I think Agoney’s song is quite good and could be a threat at ESC if staged well but my favorite by far is Megara’s Arcadia.
Fusa all the way!
Good to see Vicco’s song as 5th. It, alongside a number of songs here, have the potential to be dark horses if the live performance is good!
I liked it but it sounds too much like Aitana
Personally, I love “Yo quisiera” by Alice Wonder followed by “UFF”from E’FEMME and Nochentera by Vicco.
Of the Male artists, Aritz and Alfred, although I’m a bit weary of Aritz’s vocals and Alfred’s song can be niche at times.
José Otero is my favorite, with Fusa Nocta as my #2, but I think Agoney will win Benifest.
Very similar to my ranking. I have Fusa Nocta as my 1st, and José Otero as my 2d. I’d be happy with either winning. Agoney’s song is fine too. I have high expectations for his performance regarding choreography.
Mis favoritas son Fusa Nocta, Megara, José Otero y Blanca Paloma ye espero mucho que uno de ellos vaya a ganar.
Saludos de Alemania y mis amigos españoles. Nos vemos pronto en primavera.
Spain could get a good result with several of them: Vicco, Megara, Fusa Nocta, Aritz, Agoney, Blanca Paloma, Alice Wonder, José Otero… And others if they surprise us a lot with staging, like Famous, Sofía Martín, Rakky Ripper, Karmento or E’Femme
I don’t love any of these songs yet so no favorite. But looking at who has the vocals to succeed live and who doesn’t, I’m preparing for another messy result.
Mi favorites are Blanca, Fusa, Vicco, Megara and Aritz… for me, these five entries (if they have a good staging) are the ones to win
Agree on everything but Aritz.
Agoney is definitely the best option with an international sound if Spain wants to win Eurovision, not everyone likes folklore, let it stay in Spain.
It’s literally Spanish version of Israel 2022…
but better…
Vicco will win mmw
I’d love to see arcadia win
As always, it’s hard to judge until we see the staging.
I have very high expectations for Fusa Nocta, I really think she could land Spain another top 3 results if her staging matches the music video visuals. I don’t think we should count out Vicco’s Nochentera, it currently has the most streams out of all the BeFest acts.
Really? I knew I was right to pick out Vicco! Shows her song is really marketable!
If staged well I could see Megara in TOP 5 at Eurovision.
i hope so!! Megara is my winner
Fusa Nocta has the most risky entry. With a presentation that doesn’t connect, this could easily be the new Fulenn (I’m still perplexed of why this entry didn’t do much better, but people have spoken). With a presentation that sits well with people, I can see the top 5 potential, which would be the best back-to-back result from Spain in decades. Agoney, assuming he can at least somewhat competently sing while he dances, isn’t finishing bottom 5 for sure. His lowest is probably around 17th or so. But I can’t see it reaching in top 10, definitely not top 5.… Read more »
I hate grammatical errors…
– Reaching top 10 without “in”
– ThaN it was with La venda, not that…
Fast writing mistakes.
What are they in that case? They are unintentionally written grammatically incorrent or misplaced words. Thus, mistakes in the given context.
Nobody makes mistakes around here, we are too good for that.
It’s obvious you haven’t seen an Agoney performance and what he’s capable of is mind blowing.
The choice is very simple for me here, it’s Blanca Paloma, you have to reward people that really succeed in bringing something different and memorable to the competition and “EaEa” is actually one of very few tracks this season that I’d rate a maximum 5/5, it would absolutely make for an entry you can be proud of regardless of the result in Liverpool, also worth mentioning this is her 2nd great entry in a row at Benidorm as well.
I am ashamed to admit this, but I still haven’t listened to all the Benidorm Fest songs in full and it’s next week. So I better get on it.
No need to be ashamed! You’re not the only one. You could wait until the night, Sanremo-style.
There are so many national final playlists that I need to listen to and rank. I just finished up Croatia yesterday and I’m thinking of tackling the last seven songs from Norway and probably Ireland in Denmark because those two national finals have a very small number of songs, that I can listen to in a short period time.
I mean there are so many songs from so many NF’s to listen to so don’t feel ashamed!
B Fest is in 9 days, you’ve got time. Maybe wait until after the semis and only listen to the qualifiers. I did that with Lithuania.
Fusa Nocta or Aritz
Agoney is the best choice for Spain, but my favorite is José Otero. I think Fusa is a bottom 5 entry.
Agoney is quite similar to Israel 2022…..
Is this gonna be a thing now? Every guy with an upbeat song is gonna be compared to MBD for no reason whatsoever?
Vaguely gay, what do you expect.
I think the song is much better. And he is too. It is not my cup of tee though.
You have it backwards. Fusa Nocta is the best choice for Spain. Agoney is a bottom 5 entry and agonizing to listen to.
Arcadia ,for me , is a top 5 entry. Maybe not winner overall, but maybe with the televote. Mi familia is a good song too, but it’s either too 10 or bottom 5. With a good performance, queried added could get top 10. Overall Arcadia is spains best choice IMO
Queiro arder, silly me
Megara ftw!!
One day I want to see a collaboration between Agoney and Andreea D Folclor Orchestra
I didn’t vote either. I say it is now a draw.
