Benidorm Fest 2023: Alice Wonder “Yo Quisiera”
Alice Wonder — born Alicia Climent — is a 24-year-old singer songwriter from Madrid. She burst into the limelight after performing a moving cover of “Lucha de Gigantes” during a tribute in Madrid to the people who died from Covid-19. It even made Queen Letizia emotional.
Alice has two albums under her belt and has taken part in several festivals across the country. A self-considered “weird voice” within her generation, Wonder has performed songs with artists such as Rayden, who was also at Benidorm Fest 2022.
What do the “Yo Quisiera” lyrics mean?
“Yo Quisiera” is a retrospective on her life and the way Alice has come through, defeating adversities and self-restraints. “What does it matter what they say if they know nothing about what I have inside of me?”. “Nobody would have said I’d be here, but this far I’ve come”.
She also speaks to her partner and promises to go ahead with her. “Tell me I have not failed you”, she says. “You and I we’ll get through here, held by the hand”. “And if you prefer to fly, we’ll fly so high”.

her song is so beautiful! I hope she wins
She will do great live, I just know it.
I absolutely love this song and it’s one of my standouts in BenidormFest. I so hope she can make this magical on stage and fullfill its potential.
She could have a great result like Barbara Pravi did or being bottom… I think there is not middle point with this song
This is my favourite in Benidorm and still one of my favourites in this year’s Eurovision national selection swing. It’s the kind of entry you have to hear live, before you can truly assess what it could achieve – it could be an Anouk or Sobral moment, but it could also become a little forgettable, if not delivered with the appropriate fervor. Be that as it may, I listen to this all the time and can’t wait to see her on stage.
Couldn’t agree with you more
I thought this was my Benidorm #1,but taking my NF playlist on a road trip this weekend, it just couldn’t hold up to everything else and was the song I was most inclined to skip. Just a little too low-key I guess.
The lyrics are lovely though
Stands out as unique in a benidorm fest that seems oversaturated with reggeaton-flavored entries this year. Probably the one I’m most interested in seeing live and with staging. Think it could have a good chance if all the other songs cancel each other out and the televoters are enchanted by her voice and song.
I like this song very much
