“Quiero Arder” is Agoney’s entry for Benidorm Fest 2023. No one wants to burn in hell. But Agoney plays with the metaphor, delivering some of the most sexual lyrics of the year.

Benidorm Fest 2023: Agoney “Quiero Arder”
A lot has happened since Agoney left Operación Triunfo in early 2018, and missed his first chance of going to Eurovision. He now says that was lucky. Five years later, after releasing several singles and an album, he’s back with a song that “truly represents him”.
During this time, Agoney has remained in the public eye. While he has not topped any musical chart, he has been a staple on television: he won Your Face Sounds Familiar and recently took part in RTVE’s Dúos Increíbles, partnering with music legend Ana Belén.
What do the “Quiero Arder” lyrics mean?
“Quiero Arder” (I Want to Burn) is a story of liberation, self-awareness and sexual awakening, and one wrought with religious concepts. He literally says he wants to burn in Hell. “I’m sorry if by provoking you I make you pray again”.
Agoney frees himself from the strains of his lover and takes control of his own desires: “Tied to my game, now I am what I want, I’m still here a prisoner, but I don’t pray to you anymore”.

Maruv did it better imo – still a good song, just, yeah
Love it!! Live performance blew my mind, there are a lot of different parts in the song, but it’s still cohesive. It grabs your attention in the first verse, and then relaxes you in pre-chorus. Then throws you back in the rhythm. Angelic voice, sick beat, amazing energy. Obsessed <3
Got to love how Eurovision gets its make Satan and hell cool song in lately, Cyprus, then France, now Spain, its all fun and games until its not.
Satan thankfully doesn’t exist so who cares.
Mehh…
He’s cute, but the style of his song reminds me too much of the style of “I.M” from last year, but “I.M” is better, this song sounds messed up, it’s not a suitable song for the competition, I also didn’t like the part where he shouts.
I would love to see him come back in the future with a better song.
Haven’t heard it yet, but “I.M. is better” sounds as such a diss
I agree to some extent , look we all can see and hear Agoney is a really good performer on stage, he can sing, he can dance, he slays on stage, but the song has no melody, it really does not, and doesn’t have an oomph factor like Slomo, It is his performance which is driving force of the song. He needs the whole package to do well. Reminds me of a better choreographed version of Israel’s ‘I Am’. If they choose this for Spain , so be it, we can live with it , but expect the right hand… Read more »
Nothing personal but please don’t let this very annoying and borderline unlistenable entry win, there are much better options available.
I’m not sure I get it. What he’s saying is that conservative bible thumpers have no power over him? Their reign of terror is over?
I’m glad he has freed himself from their grip. Sadly, not everyone can do this.
Downvotes. Is that not what this song is about?
Being gay is not a sin, I don’t care what the Pope said yesterday.
Is Agoney like a Guanche name?
Canary Islandés, Spain ?? name, yes
It is, apparently it’s the name of a warrior
