Italians! Only you have the chance to stop your nation from sending a bland song which will be a downgrade from previous entries! You have some top 5 potential songs that you could send! I know you don’t care about Eurovision, but the whole world deserves to see Mr Rain and discover the message of his beautiful song! Vote for Supereroi and get it into the top 5! Then if there’s another round of voting, you can potentially give him a win in the superfinal if Mr Rain’s vote counts are so high and steal it off Marco! I’m telling… Read more »

Yeah, but even if you repeat it one million times to these fans they don’t understand. We choose quality, not a catchy tune with a nice production to win Sanremo and then Eurovision. We don’t care about winning Eurovision with a bad song or winner. This year the best singer is Marco Mengoni with his incredible voice and a “bland” ballad, as some of you say. And he will win Eurovision. The nice production of Lazza or Madame, or the not equivalente voice of Ultimo will not win this night.

Italian here, I don’t think Mengoni has a great song and I’m not a fan of his voice either, I don’t like eccesive vocalizations or his way of singing, and the song IS bland. I understand why many think he’s great (and I’m not saying he’s not good in what he does) but I still don’t appreciate his voice or singing style, like I can understand why Mariah Carey is considered an amazing singer but I can’t listen to her. It’s just a matter of taste. If Mengoni and Ultimo didn’t have the biggest and most fanatic fanbases I’m not… Read more »

I agree with you. Marco Mengoni’s song is boring, bland ballad which would probably very few points from the audience. Even if they don’t çare about Eurovision, they should not choose a boring entry.

Sorry, but Italy decided to keep Mr Rain as a secret. They say the governance want him to wear wig and renamed him Lady Rainbow, just for safe.

A culture doesn’t work about pleasing the world. A culture has its own business, and as Italy created Mr Rain, Italy does what Italy feels like. If the Divine Voice of Reasons doesn’t like Due Vite that’s not such a problem. And, by the way, if Mengoni is boring, Mr Rain isn’t that cannon shot.

I love Marco but I don’t think that his cover was the best yesterday, but I admire him because he has brought a real cover and not “a cover” of one of his songs of the past (like Anna Oxa, Gianluca Grignani, Giorgia, Articolo 31).

Surely the performance of Giorgia and Elisa was stunning, but I think that they had an easy advantage by singing two of their iconic songs of the past

Ok in the superfinal everything is reset to zero but seeing the streams of Marco song compared to others, knowing that Italy loves him so much, and knowing that Italy loves their nice classical ballads….he will win it. Does he want to come back to Eurovision, if not it will be Rai choice….gIANMARIA, Olly, Madame, Rosa Chemical would be my choices.

Ummm…. what? NMAFN is an uptempo pop/rock song. The *only* thing why some might say it’s a ballad is that it’s lyrically heavy and emotional. Doesn’t make it a ballad. I’d call OK a “banger”, but even if one wouldn’t, it’s still very much uptempo. I disagree with the view that anything apart from hard rock or super-fast ethnopop is “a ballad”.

Colin

Just checked – At 180 BPM, NMAFN is the fastest uptempo entry of ESC 2018. A soft rock / pop song. Not “a ballad” by tempo or instrumentation. And layered lyrics may accompany any genre, no matter how fast. I often wish they would more often.
