They are the teen sensation twins who got most of the teenage screams at the dress rehearsal Friday evening in Lidköping. And they got the overwhelming majority of the votes from our readers in the poll of who should win Heat 3 of Melodifestivalen 2023.
We are of course talking about Norwegian superstars Marcus & Martinus and their entry “Air”, who got no less than 47.48% of the votes, amounting to 736 votes of 1,550 total.
If the poll is the reflection of the Swedish public we will also see Paul Rey – “Royals” in the Melfest final after getting 16.00% and 248 votes. In third and fourth place we got Ida-Lova and Laurell who would then go into the semi-final.
Result of Melodifestivalen heat 3 poll
- Marcus & Martinus – “Air” – 47.48% – 736 votes
- Paul Rey – “Royals” – 16.00% – 248 votes

Total votes: 1,550
Do you want twin power in the Melfest final? Or did you have another favourite for tomorrows heat 3? Let us know in the comments below.
My conspiracy theory is that they have low quality songs this year to favour Loreen. Or maybe this is just wishful thinking
The twins so far are the only ones with potential . Yes it is polished pop once again but it also is the only one who has something..
Sweden could send a monkey even a paedophile and they still qualify and still getting the top 3
And Ukraine can send a farting goat and still win the whole thing .
both of yours comments are absolutely ridiculous…The reason why both countries qualify is because they both have great musicians. That’s it.
It was a ridicilous comment. But so was the og post..
Like people think Sweden has no merit whatsoever and does well. But as you say people like Swedish songs, which is why Sweden always qualify. Even with only televotes .
The post Bjorkman era in Melodifestivalen is clearly not working. Cornelia saved the day last year but this luck won’t continue for long. MGP is what melodifestivalen used to be
Tonight my votes go to Laurell. Song and performance already iconic.
THIS WILL WIN EUROVISION 2023 FOR SURE!
I agree. It has winning potential.
Let’s be honest here, now we all are just waiting for Thursday to hear Loreen’s snippet…this years MF has been Soo disappointing and boring to be honest.
I love Marcus & Martinus’s entry and it sounds so good live too. I really wanna see them at Eurovision and I think they would be a strong contender to win with this song. Some people might disagree but from the songs that we’ve heard so far from other countries, Air could really stand out as it’s a polished and modern entry. Also I’d love to see Sweden host again soon as they did an amazing job in 2016, which for me was the best Eurovision ever.
it’s AMAZING….sounds like something they’d play at a major music festival
Marcus and Martinus are lightyears ahead of everything we’ve seen at MF so far. All other acts are just typical boring Swedish melodies. The third week in a row… It’s getting desperate.
At least they can hold a tune these days (just about) – when they were younger … oh, dear! Sweden is very welcome to have them (they are much more popular there than in their native Norway)!
We’re talking M&M of course!!!
I really like Melanie Wehbes song, but I guess that I’m in minority here.
I really love the drop in the chorus of Air And by “love” I mean LOOOOOOOVE Even without hearing the full song I can already say this is my favorite out of three heats so far and I’m not sure anyone from Heat 4 is beating Air for me (but I’m also bad at guessing lol) I need Air and Royals to qualify to the final tonight, these two entries are the best of the season in my eyes Air might even be my favorite song of the entire Eurovision season You can downvote me for this, I don’t care,… Read more »
As others have mentioned, im not too fussy about whether songs (particularly in melfest) are generic or not because if I like it, ill listen to it, regardless of if its different. From the studio version, my favourite of this semi was Ida love, I thought it was quite nice, cool to hear Swedish in it and it could be good live but im not loving the styling or staging I saw. Melanie, again like the song but idk if i loved what i saw of the staging. Marcus and Martinus have really cool staging, looking forward to seeing it… Read more »
“I can’t breathe without air”
so moving, so inspiring, hits hard!
Can*
I can’t breathe without air…..really? Why not I can’t drink without water? or I can’t walk without legs? Seriously…some songwriters are uninspired I’m sorry.
Can* not can’t
OMG you’re right! At least it makes a little bit more sense, it’s reassuring for these young artists because I didn’t get how a mistake like this could have been done, ok sorry my bad.
still dumb, like saying i can bleed without blood
Not wrong…
The air is what they breathe. It’s unforgivable.
They are big names and I can’t believe nobody in their team or their producers or the Melfest producers has pointed that out before, I don’t get how is it possible to not realize that it’s a big pleonasm that even doesn’t make sense, if only it was a bit of the lyrics in the song but no it’s the chorus itself, really I don’t get it.
The credibility and the integrity of the artists in that case is not important indeed.
ARE not important sorry I’m tired 😉
I’d probably put only Victor ahead, but I’m fully aware that’s my personal love for this guy’s repertoire. But generally… I agree. I don’t know why ”Swedish offerings” from other NFs *always* get such a bad rep. There’s awful and uninspired stuff there, of course. But also a lot of interesting entries that have been passed on in Melfest itself in favor of some much less interesting entries. Creeping Walls is a really good song.
We were bad, they CAN breathe without air! Like fishes…
“Your pain is painful” it’s deep it means she shares the pain with the person she is talking to.
Sure but at least we can make sense of that while I can’t breathe without air….but of course you can’t lol
I can’t see without light or I can’t see without eyes, I can’t smell without smells lol, it is infinite 😉
I don’t look for originality in Melfest as I don’t look for it on the other NFs or ESC entries as well. The point is to find a song that gives you something, even if it is not original. With that being said Marcus and Martinus, Nordman and Ida Lova are good qualifiers, with a preference on the last two, since it would be very cool to hear as many times as possible the swedish language in the final. P.s i don’t know why some are putting hate on Loreen. Ok I get why they are possibly tired to listen… Read more »
I actually enjoy both Royals and Air. First Melfest songs I like this year. I don’t mind a song being generic, if I enjoy it then who cares if I’ve heard it b4. Knew Paul rey wouldn’t dissapoint tbh atm I’m rooting for him and Marcus and Mertinus to win, would be happy with both.
Laurell Barker’s artistic style is a bit.. questionable if you ask me. Songs, clothing style and all makes me think that Steve Buscemi meme where he says “How do you do, fellow kids”.
Maybe she thought of Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” and thought she could pull something like that off (repurposing a fun song obviously written for someone else), but yeah the image is all wrong.
I will wait for Loreen to make sure her song is bad or boring… ?
I think Sweden should either send something in their own language this year or send something with a northern touch like Nordman or the people from the first heat with the Sami language. It would be a little out of the box and different. Markus and Martinus are good too. Loreeen will probably be overhyped.
Melodifestivalen is basically on par with MESC in terms of quality this year. sad as its usually a very good NF, i want Loreen to return tho so hopefully her song is as good as everyone is expecting it to be…
can I say Sweden is slightly worse this year? at least MGP has a lot more soul and different songs
mgp ofc is better
we are talking about MESC
Yeah, Air is the best one in this heat and they would be a good Eurovision choice for sure, but I have to say I like four more songs. Nice! Good luck Sweden! Greetings from Serbia
opinions: Paul Rey Another unoriginal but really really great entry. My fav of his other entries Casanovas well not much to say here, not my type of song Melanie although the vocal composition of the chorus is AWFUL (notes and melodies of the vocals) production-wise, I really like it and she seems to sing well. Nordman at first, i was like oh another Avicii song fuk, but then I grew to really like the way those raspy traditional-ish vocals of the singer blend with an EDM song Laurell kind of mixed on this one but I like the mood Ida-Lova… Read more »
