I know Loreen’s song might be better than other Melfest entries but personally, I wasnt so impressed with the song “Tattoo” and singing between two LED ceilings didn’t impress me.

The song is not energetic or emotional for But I respect for any other opinion 🙂

When heard Euphoria for the first time, felt my limbs got sore, that was about to fell of the chair. Don’t feel that with ‘Tattoo’ and can’t helped to think it’s trying to be Euphoria 2? M&M song made me feel more powerful at this time.

I don’t think so and I am sure I am not the only one who finds Loreen’s song not impressive, a bit generic.

it is not correct to compare it with Euphoria because it was more energetic song. This song is a bit depressive and it is not a song that I should listen more.

It’s sad to see how devisive Loreen has become in the fando from reading comments the last few days. Euphoria was one of the greatest winning songs/ moments of modern eurovision, where we were so united by joy. And I’d like to think she shares the same values that many of our fandom do, especially of those who idealise tolerance and human rights. I don’t remember many of the represents Baku, speaking out like she did.

She is a eurovision icon wether you like her music or not.

That is Wiwi for you! It is not Loreen herself but the country she represent that is the problem!

It’s my personal opinion ? but Sweden’s entry last year (“Hold Me Closer”) was 10 times better than Loreen’s song “Tattoo”. It was more unique, not generic and different from Sweden’s previous ESC entries.

I couldn’t get the hype around “Tattoo” song. It’s a nice song with interesting staging (for me a bit depressive) but It’s not a song that I want to listen again.

Cornelia Jakobs could bring something new from Sweden which can be inspiring but this year, we see generic songs from same composers and writers.

From a Swedish perspective Loreen is seen as not easy to digest We liked Euphoria the song, not Loreen the artist. Loreen herself among the common people is not easy to digest and difficult to understand. That is why the twins could get more votes becasue they are easier.
I do think she will get to final but I would not be surprised if she gets the second place or even through semi final. It all depends on how “easy” we get her performance. The pictures from rehearsals I do not know how much they will help her.

Question though would Swedes really let Norwegians represent?
But yes they are a threat. I do think it is between them and her Loreen has the disadvantage of being a former winner, the staging this year is not difficult to get Like the movie “Dune”.But then again it¨s Loreen, who is “svår”
But the odds really are to high in her favour to lose. So i do think she could. But I am less certain about that than I was about Cornelia winning last year..

For “Statement” the press focused a lot about the usage of “the woman with the handbag” a very famous photo of a woman hitting a nazi with a handbag. The perspective was from the woman Danuta Danielsson, who did not want to be used politically. And had her life tragically turned after the photo, resulting in her early death. Her son did not like that Loreen used this in her choreography.
The song was not too much pop either.

I liked it, but the Swedish public were not as convinced.

Best SF by far… which is bad because some good acts might miss the final.

I think Six Feet Under and Loreen should go to the final. Mariette and Kiana to the semifinal.

It might be a silly thing but I’m glad to see Mariette and Loreen together. First time I listened to “Don’t Stop Believing” I was really impressed and I though she could win like Loreen. Both were also very misterious to me. So it’s kind of recomforting for my past self seeing both two coincide in the same heat 8 years after.

I didn’t get everyone’s hyped with Loreen (don’t get me wrong, I love her and I expected her to be the best contestant in this year’s Mello, which is showing she is) until I saw the staging and O M G!!!
I was expecting something dark, but it was bright (which is a hit for me). As for the song, the little available is okay (I cringed with the “you tattoo” part, though), but the staging and her voice elevate it.
Sorry if I haven’t made any sense lately, though, I’ve been through a lot this month 🙁

Ofc the song is important but we really mustnt underestimate the importance of staging a performance well. Staging can make or break a performance and whilst people do tend to vote for songs, staging can help with memorability and making the song stand out even more so, so whilst yes the snippet wasn’t the most exciting to me, firstly, we havent heard the whole song, how it progresses and aditionally, wd have seen in the past songs become massively elevated by staging and how good staging helps get better results.

Im judging it on a few factors: This years Melfest ,the general consensus is the competition isnt as competitive, theres not as many standouts. One thing that a lot of the performances lack is effective staging and whilst weve seen some competent staging, theres nothing that has completely stood out in that regard (perhapd people could make an arguement for Marcus and Martinus). Secondly, there are press members who have watched the rehearsals and whilst im aware that they wont always get things right, the verdict from the rehearsal was that it was very powerful, well put together visually and… Read more »

I forget who he is, but yeah, ban him from the jury if he’s already made his mind up before he’s heard the song and seen the performance.

Everyone including the bookies have already made their mind up that loreen has won already. So what’s fair there?

Bookies have been pretty crappy in predicting winners this year. So far the only one they got right was Estonia.
So. Im not really relying on them.

Loreen… so-so about the song snippet, and i don’t think she’s a guaranteed winner. Obviously JHF and M&M are the contenders, and i think people are wrongly counting out JHF now that he might finally win. Remember returning artists with spectacular, artsy stagings have failed before, like Ace Wilder with “Don’t Worry” and especially Eric Saade with “Every Moment”, and i got a feeling Loreen will end up below
those two in the final.

Imo Every minute and Don’t worry are worse than Tattoo.

Loreen’s song is overhyped; the song is nice but a bit generic.

Ace got 3rd and Eric got 2nd with their performances
“Not winning” doesn’t equal “failing”
Most artists would kill for a top-3 finish
So, Loreen finishing 2nd or 3rd would still be a strong result

My hope. Sweden will equal Ireland’s record, Loreen will equal Johnny Logan’s, and Sweden 2024 will have ABBA reuniting for the interval act to mark the 50th anniversary of Waterloo.

For purely selfish reasons (being I’m Irish and never got to see any of my countries wins in real time) I always am anxious over Sweden winning but tbh they’ve sent quality over the years so it would be deserved.

I think Sweden would also have a two-in-row and a home win if wasn’t for a certain 2011 country. Oh well, maybe next year.

Sorry but got bored with seeing every year how Sweden’s entries are overrated by the juries and the public (except last year). Hope that Sweden’s entry will not be in top 5.

That makes no sense, why would you judge this year’s song by other years? The best/favourite song should win, based on this year alone.

almost every year, juries overrate Sweden’s entries (except last year, Cornelia’s song was good). “Tattoo” might be better compared to other selected entries so far but I am sure that if “Tattoo” was chosen another country to represent at Eurovision, you probably would not have overhyped this song ?

Anyway the matter here is for Tatoo to get the recognition it deserves. That’s the only topic which interest us so far, not some fictional debat based on if’s. We know Sweden songs tend to be liked by juries but that doesn’t mean automatically that they all did not deserve it.

Would “Rude Boy” have the same success if Rihanna wouldn’t sing it ??

Me at after they saw Loreen staging and she jump high in odds.

I hope Loreen’s stage performance won’t feel as “too much” and “try too hard”. and more important.. distracting you from the song because you’re more focus on what she’s doing or all the things happening. She doesn’t need it imo

Euphoria performance never came across as too much or too pretencious back then. and the song and Loreen were the spotlightht as they were so good on their own. I hope it’ll feel similar.

Ok we have lost some of the eurofans, they have seen pictures of Loreen’s staging and they are in heaven lol but to be fair it looks promising and very innovative.
There’s even one wiwibloggs reporter in the Melfest today who saw Loreen’s rehearsals and he said that she was the Eurovision 2023 winner… wiwibloggs will become Loreen’s blog this year 😉 I feel it.

Not really true but this year I see them and since weeks, they prepare this, even in their vid reactions about others subtly… Loreen is kind of religion for wiwi and his team. Just waiting for the vid reaction about Loreen 😉

But I don’t find it unfair. A song shouldnt be overhyped because of its singer as previous ESC winner and because of the country. Eurovision is not a contest in which almost every year Sweden’s entries should be overhyped.

And as the odds are a sort of religion too here, the ecstaticness more the big esc winner vibes in the vid reaction, I can’t wait!

The odds for Sweden are on fire! I wonder why…lol 😉 If I remember well, if Loreen comes back in Eurovision she would be the 3rd esc winner to come back, Johnny Logan who managed to win twice, Diana International, and maybe Loreen, we will see, her snippet seems interesting though. Is her aim to win Eurovision twice too? 2012 all over again? Why not we will see if she could be a real 2023 worthy winner, I’m the first to be biased by the name Loreen cause we all know what she brought to Eurovision an iconic performance and… Read more »

I know we only got snippets at the moment, but I went from liking 0 entries in previous heats to 3 in this heat.

The 3 I like in this heat are One Day, Six Feet Under and Tattoo. With Tattoo being thr stand out.
