Was Loreen your choice to win heat 4 as well? Or did you have another favourite for tomorrow? Let us know in the comments below.
She’s the only potential Swedish rep that would deserve to qualify in Liverpool
Loreen’s song is stuck on me like a tattoooooo!
The song is okay; after a while it loses the dynamism in my opinion. I could listen the 3 minute version which was posted at Youtube, I guess.
People expecting Loreen to be groundbreaking and comparing it to Euphoria is not fair and it is the onus of being who she is. The song is completely in line with the type of work she has produced in the past years, vocally on point and artistically and genre wise. The song should be judged by itself not for Loreen’s past, for better or worse.
I need to listen to the full Loreen song. Anyway, she’s lucky that there’s not much competition this year unlike 2017 when she took part.
Loreen is amazing, I want her back on Eurovision stage. This song is excellent. She has such a big voice and presence. I believed in her victory in 2012, and I belive she can do it again.
I found the 3 minute learn of the audio version of the song and after listening; I wasnt so impressed, to be honest. The last part of the song is a bit repetitive; a singer shouting the chorus.
Euphoria was a song that keep you watching the song but that song, it made me a bit bored and depressed 🙂
Coming from a song who literally repeated Biti Zdrava like 30 times it means a lot..
Am I the only one found “Statements” much better than Loreen’s “Tattoo” song? 🙂
Although I find Loreen’s song good; I don’t get the hype around this song. I watched the clip which was posted at YouTube and just see a singer singing an emotional yet unimpressive song.
Its chorus is also not catchy for me 🙂
I do care more if Smash Into Pieces will qualify DTF.
As for Loreen: Keeping my hope a bit lower. Statements in 2017 should‘ve easily sail through to the final even with that staging.
Loreen’s song is good but personally It didn’t so impress me.
I would be objective: Although I liked the “Tattoo” song; I wasn’t impressed with the performance. The chorus is not catchy for me and I will not overhype the song Although its singer is previous ESC winner.
Poland Jaan Gladiator
Sweden Lorren Tattoo
Poland – Dominik Dudek: Be Good
Finland – Kuumaa: Ylivoimainen
But Jann and Kaarija are both my close second, and I’d be happy to have them at ESC.
As for Loreen, I’m on her hype train too. Of course, only when I hear the whole song can I know just to a what degree she’s excellent, but she’s obviously excellent. And an obvious winner here. Unless age groups favor Maria or M&M, which would be underwhelming.
I can not see age groups favour Maria. Maybe the elderst group but younger sure will not
All Loreen wants to do is win Eurovision because that’s the only place she is relevant. At 39 she is too old to make it in the music industry. Unfortunate but true.
Well, it seems that the performance is available to watch. And Irish radio has been playing Tattoo. SVT are trying to stop the leaks. It only builds more buzz and hype.
Where is it available?
It’s a leak, so I don’t want to break any rules and tell you were it is..
Well, someone from the invited Swedish press broke the rules and posted the whole rehersal on a certain ” bird” site. Which made it a trending sensation. Now with SVT’ s strict rules and lawyers it could very well have been removed by now.
Lot of negative Nelly’s on here! Geez, do people on here do nothing but complain? You wanted Loreen back, now you complain about it.. No, it’s not “Euphoria” and it was never meant to be either. It would be stupid if she tried to recreate i. It might be generic but the point is to find the best song, not the most original. Besides I did not see you complain about Allessandra being generic or Chanel last year being generic even though these two songs sound more generic than Tatoo. It’s ESC, the home of easy accessible music, not the latest… Read more »
You are right. It is not the end of the world; so no need to overhype this generic song.
I don’t agree with your comment that “Slomo” was more generic than “Tattoo”. Slomo was something unique, unexpected from Spain; whereas “Tattoo” is nothing special from Swedish musical factories 🙂
Yawn! Nothing special there from “bash Sweden” bot-factory!
There was also no need to be overhyped over the J-Lo K-mart copy we got from Spain last year, but that’s what happened
There is also no need to get hyped over any of the entries this year, or any year indeed because chances are none of them will get any awards for sounding fresh!
J-Lo K-mart copy hahahah…I agree!
My top 4:
I love Air’s staging! this is so high tech! stunning!
The song AIR is more generic than tattoo is and I think it’s impossible to vote Loreens song if half of the song is still missing
Air’s staging is indeed really well-done!
Much better than Loreen’s depressive staging.
What I really don’t get is all the fuss about songs being generic. Who cares in the end if there’s a majority of people having a good time for about 3 minutes? We’re still talking about Eurovision – a TV show based on entertainment – and not about final exams in fine arts …
If the song is generic for some people, the performance is artsy enough, so it makes a balance I think.
Generic as in done more than enough; same songwriters, lyrics that are on the level of becoming comical and in the end the acts that go forward are usually the ones with some of the most used songwriters.
When you receive so called 2 824 entries, you wouldn’t expect those 28 chosen entries to have same people behind them. Now with these same songwriters also performing, it’s like scrapping down leftovers from yesterday.
It’s a song contest; not a TV Show wherein all Swedish generic entries would ve overhyped. The song itself is also depressive
I’ve heard and seen Tattoo performance and I think it’s beautiful and very atmospheric. The lightings are gorgeous, on TV screen it will be very nice even if I still don’t really understand the concept, it’s very artsy, some lighting reminds me of her statements performance. The song is nice very Loreen, I love when it builds, her voice is nice, I prefer the building verses rather than the chorus but it’s still nice, the talking part I’m not into it, the end is not enough memorable imo but I can see the appeal totally mainly in Loreen’s fans because… Read more »
And right now she is creating a big mess in the esc odds lol
I am from Sweden but I also wasnt impressed with the song itself. I expected something more catchy or uptempo song; but Loreen’s song “Tattoo” is boring.
I find staging successful but a bit depressive; due to the foggy staging. I also find the song not so emotional. “Euphoria” was a song that easily attracted attention with its energetic tempo but the song made me a bit bored 🙂
I would prefer Cornelia Jakobs’ entry over “Tattoo”.
This year Melodifestivalen has been quite a let down, where everything sounds generic and bland. Many songs seem to build into something without going to the finish line.
For all the naysayers (and overhypers), let’s at least wait and see what Loreen brings tmr. I did quite like what little I saw of the song/pics/clip, but we haven’t even seen or heard the thing in its entirety. I think it’s fair to at least wait until she’s performed before saying it’s no good/dull or the greatest thing ever. Just my two cents.
Sweden is in big trouble this year for me. Covering these generic pop with great visuals isn’t a good strategy. Even Loreen is doing things like this.
“Generic Pop” Go back 10 years ago and review your the “Generic Pop” term.
POP music evolves, and even the magnificent Flamenco lullaby by Blanca Paloma from Spain has an electronic touch. Pop evolves. You must remember when Loreen tried with “Statments” Boy was that terrible! It is not because is Loreen.
Pop has evolved and generic music lyrics like in Melfest is starting to be left behind in the music industry.
she looks like Kevin the scaffolder in drag …
What a nice compliment, I’ve always liked Kevin. Please give him my regards.
Look…when Loreen won the Eurovision with Euphoria I was ecstatic! I loooove that song, I loved the performance! But Tattoo…sounds like any other song. It just lacks that power of Euphoria. The staging also seems like a slightly revamped version of what we saw in 2012 – Loreen slowly moves around on some piece of block…what’s new?
Nowadays there are like a million songs like Euphoria. She paved the way to it. She is trying something that might not be new, but personal and cool! And most importantly, her brand. Is Loreen a very peculiar style.
Loreen didn’t pave the way for EDM… Euphoria is a pretty straightforward dance track, it already wasn’t very inventive back in 2012. If you mean in the context of Eurovision, yeah, it was something new. Most importantly, it was a good song, very… euphoric. Tattoo isn’t.
No but I think people forget Titanium, one of the biggest EDM songs ever, was released in late 2011. It was that peak time for EDM that didn’t need to rehash or sample anything else. That’s why people loved to see that music at Eurovision. Now we are getting more experimental music again from younger artists. Tattoo sounds dated and not in a timeless way.
There isn’t a lot of real experimental music at Eurovision. At least I don’t hear it. That doesn’t matter, a good Eurovision song is familiar enough to make people take notice and new enough to prevent people from getting bored. It’s a fine balance.
I completely understand it’s her style, it’s her brand and that’s great! I’m not saying Tattoo is a horrible song, it’s okay, but I just don’t see it ever becoming such a hit as Euphoria. Euphoria was a song no one could ignore in 2012. It was played in radios all over Europe many many months after the Eurovision. Tattoo is nice, but that’s all. I get it that with Loreen being Eurovision royalty everyone gets excited by the thought she could come back to the contest, and it would be great if she did, but to go that far,… Read more »
Agree with your comment. “Tattoo” is not a song that I really want to listen again.
Agree with you. I know it’s difficult to always bring something new but I expected more unique; after seeing many overhyped comments on the song. “Tattoo” lacks something; I watched the 2 minutes video snippet from YouTube and I wasnt so impressed; a Previous ESC singer singing between LED ceilings; that was all.
Having seen the whole now, all I can say is that it feels like a 10/10 in all other aspects than being a bit generic. It so close to total perfection. However, avoiding being generic tend to be quite important imo. Few ESC winners are generic. Euphoria was not generic in the way Tattoo is at all. Neither was Statements. But the number is so mind blowing that I almost forget about this aspect.
The perfection doesn’t exist.
Tattoo is generic; only its staging is good.
We all know it’s harder to win Melfest than Eurovision.
If Loreen gets the pleasure to represent Sweden, I’m sure she’ll storm the Grand Final in Liverpool and win. Just the commentators saying ”This is Loreen, the artist who won with Euphoria in 2012” will be enough for Europeans to stop talking, turn up the volume on their TV’s and take in Loreen’s art on stage. Don’t count her out because the song isn’t art-sy fart-sy.
Would never count her out, and that’s a problem honestly. In 2017 she didn’t even get to Melfest finals, for whatever reason. I am not Swedish so I still don’t understand. That song was ahead of the time and would have a chance to win Eurovision for sure. This song is the complete opposite. Listen to this song on the radio, without knowing who it was, nobody would turn heads or turn up the volume as you said, and that’s a fact. If there is something worse than milking the trends and taking advantage of the jury whoever you are,… Read more »
The main obstacle with Statements was that the staging was absolutely dreadful and killed the song completely.
From what we’ve seen in the official and leaked clips, Tattoo is staged amazingly well not only in the sense that it looks great in itself but it does what staging is meant to do, it elevates the song to a whole new level.
I don’t agree at all Eurovision is largely harder to win than Melfest in all aspects.
Sorry but no one has to vote for a previous ESC winner if her song doesnt appeal so much. It is unfair for other artists and I am sure that no one watch Eurovision to support Sweden’s song but to watch different songs from other countries.
I get that some people think “Tattoo” is generic, but I don’t get why they think “Air” is not. At the end of the day, both in Melfest and in ESC we are looking for good entries rather than original. In her fourth attempt, Loreen has proved that even if she hasn’t the most original song (in fact, only Statements was original) she has the quality and the character to perform in a way that most eurovision artists can’t. She owns the song, and there is no doubt about it. If the expectations are going to be fulfilled tomorrow, I… Read more »
It is 2023. Eurovision will be 67 years old. People now loves to use “generic” to songs that sound like other ones. Eurovision fans specially forget that NOWADAYS a song is the whole package. Rosa Linn eneded up in 20th place mostly because it was considered “generic”- She has had more clicks overall in all social media. Youtube, Facebook, Tiktok than the top 3 winners. What I know before watching Laureen full performance is that it sounds amazing! It is not like “Statments” (horrible thing) She came back for the win. HOWEVER, Mariette’s song is also beautiful!
Air indeed is generic and unremarkable too, but people kind of expected it from M&M, not from Loreen
Air is generic but equally nice to look at yet nobody is screaming calling them the winner of ESC 2023.
And I do not get why people don’t think Norway’s entry is generic..
I agree, I also find Norway’s song generic but no one overhyped Norway’s song before the contest. But due to the popularity; Loreen’s song was too overhyped.
Let’s be realistic. It is a good song for Sweden this year because I don’t remember Sweden being this bad for 10 years at least.
But if we talk in general about chances on Eurovision, if this wasn’t Loreen and Sweden, this song would struggle to qualify for the finals.
It is nothing special, pretty dull, and sounds dated.
You must have a short term memory because Tusse – Voices was pretty bad and that was only two years ago .
Was talking about Melfest in general, not how Sweden performed in Eurovision. Didn’t like Tusse, Ludwig, even Cornelia last year, but in Melfest you can always find several songs that you like, even if they don’t win. Now all the songs are bland and average in the best case, or just plain bad.
Good to see similar opinions about this song 🙂 I agree with your comment; the song is not so special; as fans stated.
Whatever happens tomorrow, I wish everybody good luck, and I hope they’ll perform to the best of their abilities.
I don’t really get the hype yet, we only have a 30 second snippet and whilst the stage performance seems unique and excellent we can’t judge the song as we’ve barely heard anything. People are saying it’s a potential Eurovision winner without even hearing the full song, bit ridiculous lmao.
This one is a banger: https://youtu.be/fm4fLvDPv0Y
It’s a frickin’ beautiful song, man.
This is better imo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0doSWS0Fj24
Is that one frickin’ beautiful, too?
She isn’t going to win. We have been through this with Statements, a much stronger entry and failed to make it through and win Melfest. The only thing about Tattoo which is decent is the staging. If she does by some chance win Melfest, she will be nowhere close to winning Eurovision.
IMO Marcus & Martinus will win Melfest 2023 by a sizable majority, Air really is the only song that has the staying power to be a major contender.
To Loreen, why does she gave any reason to return? Euphoria changed the game for the contest and returning with a lesser entry does not make any sense at all, why tarnish your reputation like this. I do not get it.
I do not understand the hype for a average entry with a somewhat cool staging motif. All this attention is due to the fact she is Loreen and nothing more.
To be fair tho MF 2023 is miles weaker than MF 2017 so Loreen could win this even if Tattoo is much weaker than Statements.
Tattoo is more generic, thus more appealing to the general public. I think it could be a close race between Tattoo and Air.
*more generic than Statements
I also wanted to see new singer’s to represent Sweden; Loreen already got popularity with “Euphoria”. “Tattoo” is an okay song, I also want to see something unique.
After tomorrow these discussions will seem trivial. Tattoo is on a different level entirely.
Just wait until Saturday night before reaching your final verdict! See the whole thing. Less than 24 hours away.

Loreen also won the audience poll. It’s the first time for her. Euphoria came second and Statements third.

I’m just happy that Loreen’s Melodifestivalen career won’t end in the underappreciation of 2017. Probably. If she gets to final, I’ll be happy.
Why do I have a feeling the twins will win MF and Loreen will come 2nd?
Because Loreen won in 2012, eleven years ago, and all the voters still in their teens probably won’t even remember that. It’s from another generation to them. Loreen will be 40 this year, which seems really really ancient to a lot of people. I’m relying on the juries to fight that ageism. I do think she will do well in the televote too, but the competition will be stronger there.
These are just my worries, no basis in fact…
I get you.
Ageism is an ironical phenomenon for me, tbh. Most of us live in ageing places were it’s becoming uncommon to stumble upon people younger than 30 xd
Eh, why would her career have ended there? She always said she will do Mello if the right song comes along. Statements was just something she did because she had stuff to say and Mello gave her the stage to do so, she even convinced SVT to let her compete in 2017
This year it is different though because she actually wants to win and people think she will
