We’re edging ever closer to semi-final 1 of Festival da Canção 2023, where Portugal will begin the journey of selecting their entry for Eurovision this year.

We previously asked you to name your favourites from the semi-final 1 line-up.

After counting a total of 2,287 votes, we can now reveal the results…

Mimicat is a favourite in Festival da Canção 2023 semi-final 1

Coming out on top of the poll is Mimicat. Her song “Ai Coração” picked up 645 votes, which is 28.20% of all those cast.

Mimicat has quickly become a strong contender for the ticket to Eurovision. This is not just seen in our poll but also in the fact she’s climbed Portugal’s Viral 50 Spotify chart. In a comment underneath her song’s lyric video, Mimicat thanked fans for all the support:

“My loves, I don’t know how I can thank you for everything that is written here. You are wonderful and the only way I can repay you this love is to do my best on that stage. We don’t know who’s going to pass, or win the Festival, but with all this love I’ve already won. Let’s go with everything guys!!! Love you all <3”

Second place in our poll goes to a Eurovision alum. Portugal’s 2018 representative Cláudia Pascoal is back at Festival da Canção, this time having written her own song.

It seems many of y’all think she once again stands a chance of winning the festival. Claudia was the other main favourite in the poll, scooping up 514 votes for her song “Nasci Maria” — that’s 22.47% of the total.

Bronze this time around is awarded to You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown. The group have won over a number of fans with their gentle entry “Contraste Mudo” and seem to be a safe qualifier for the grand final. You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown were awarded 216 votes (9.44%).

Six acts will ultimately qualify from semi-final 1. If it were up to our readers, the other spots in the grand final would go to Neon Soho, April Ivy and Esse Povo.

Full results: Who should qualify from semi-final 1 of Portugal’s Festival da Canção 2023?

Nope too much bordel song. Portuguese people as usual are deluded. Everything is so bad in that country that when an average thing comes along mass histeria rises, like discovering a gold mine of something. Come one, instead take care of your bankrupt airliner, your half dead healthcare system were hospitals close emergencies rooms at night., you housing prices decadent city minimum wage. Want more?!!! But nooo your focused on a stupid average quality song without any interest expecting to win!!! Even if you win which i really doubt that this passes semi-finals all EU will always see you a… Read more »

Hey, John, you seem to know all our problems and I bet you have a fix for them, wanna oust our government and rule Portugal yourself?! And maybe clean Portugal of all these dumb Portuguese who keep voting PS just because they give some miserable breadcrumbs to the poor every once in a while, while keep clapping every time their Ryanair plane lands?! You’re not the only one who is frustrated with our current situation, but then you might have to blame everyone all the way back to King Sebastião who had a go at doing something of this country,… Read more »

Porque fala assim do meu país ?

Hello RTP!

Mimicat needs to be going to Liverpool!
THE END!

The tune is fast paced, catchy and yet completely different from any other act that will probably be in Liverpool.

If she goes with the burlesque staging that was mentioned, that would be amazing.
RTP seem to have got the staging right on the last few entries.?

You know what, I think she could take it all!

Europe must be bored with all the same old balads and europop?

Do you mean goat as in ‘greatest of all time’ or goat as in the animal.
It better be the first one or I’m roasting you.
