It’s ironic that such a polarizing entry turned out to be a compromise winner (not a winner of either jury or televote).

Absolutely love this song and performance, it absolutely slays but why is no one talking about the vocals. It’s almost as if euro fans pick and chose when to ignore good or bad vocals depending on the country.

Why are Croatian fans triggered by the news on the Serbian selection winner? Why come here to whine and downgrade other competitors, it’s just making people dislike Croatian entry?
Back to the topic, Luke Black was a good choice, I personally preferred Filip Baloš, it’s been on my play list since the release, very catchy. Princ – I found not only the song being dated, but the choreography, although on point, offending to women (harem style). Princ himself is a very nice guy and he deserves a better song and staging.

Those weren’t Z symbols at all, but zig zag shaped coffe tables, and only one part of it resembles the symbol, while the other part is mirrored, and Konstrakta herself said that it had nothing to do with the war in Ukraine, and had no political meaning.

Haters are always trying so hard to find some irrelevant detail and make up whole stories around it, just to talk trash about others, it’s really pathetic

I think the season finally starts to pick up. Serbia is once again going for the art pop (more like dream pop) genre and I am once again impressed. The performance is theatrical, the song has musical quality and the lyrics once again are meaningful. I never expected Serbia to embrace alternative entries this much so as to send an alternative, theatrical song two times in a row. Congrats to Serbia, congrats to Luke, he jumped straight to my top 3 !

They are if you put everything in context. Sleep means apathy and withdrawal from a ‘burning world’ as he introduces us into his virtual world to escape reality. It’s very clever and the whole performance is so captivating. And he’s definitely not mumbling. He’s speak singing at the highest of his vocal range and his diction is still perfect.

You’re wrong, the song has a pretty obvious meaning, which is to wake up and take the courage to face your problems, stop looking away and ignoring all the evil in this world.

It’s a great message, the song is as anti-war as it can be.

Agree with everything ThorBeta mentioned. In this kind of entries the entire package is what lets the meaning be conveyed in its entirety. That’s the purpose of theatrical songs. Either it is the meager vocal qualities, whispering/talking with a vocoder and or prerecorded backings seems a trend this year, or just another mediocre song with out any impact whatsover on me. I don’t think that the Serbian and Croatian entries want to convey the same message. Samo mi se spava is about feeling alienated from the rest of the world, Luka said in an interview it is about how he felt during lockdown in the pandemic; the outside world was “burning”, while the isolation made him less and less bothered. Mama ?? is a parody on dictators (be it Stalin, Hitler and Lenin, or Putin and his tractor Lukashenko), emphasising how childish they are (the nursery rhyme style, the random alphabet, mama) and calls them psychopaths. After this weekend, 2023 remains underwhelming. Serbia’s wannabe-out-of-the-box enrty presented by a whining dude who hardly hits a note with a thin voice, Moldova’s wannabe-doing-better-than-Fulenn by ridiculously dancing dude with thin high pitched voice. I did not expect such a song from Serbia; well done! Modern, dark, beat, mystic. Love the entry and it should go well, definitely to the final. Then we will see. Good luck Serbia!

Good choice for Serbia, though I find the “hello” parts a bit annoying. I also can’t stop thinking about that other song while listening to this. Anyway I think Serbia should do well. Good luck!
