The official sponsor of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is Baileys — the intoxicating Irish cream liqueur, flavoured with cocoa and whiskey. But there’s another drink that may become the “it” drink of the Eurovision 2023 season.

Let us introduce you to Piña Colada — a delicious tropical cocktail with a hint of pineapple and coconut. There’s a reason why it’s gaining popularity across the Eurofandom — and most especially in Finland. It’s the drink that helps UMK winner Käärijä go “Cha Cha Cha!

In his Eurovision 2023 song, Finn Jere Pöyhönen — he behind the Käärijä pseudonym — sings that, “this exhausting week and many long days are behind…There’s only bar and piña colada on my mind”.

He then holds on to the drink with both hands, like, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha. The lyrics quickly became iconic in the Eurovision world and across the Nordic country.

After the victory, Käärijä wanted to treat himself to some piña colada at the afterparty at Turku’s Logomo. However, he had to opt out for something else as all of the piña coladas had sold out for the night, as he confessed in his interview with Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat. Team Wiwi were at the afterparty as well, and we can confirm — all of the tropical cocktail ingredients were out of stock!

As a sign of the increased interest in the drink, Finnish media have been offering tips on how to enjoy the refreshing piña colada at home or with friends through a series of recipes for the famous cocktail. Finnish liquor website Viinimaa even offers a non-alcoholic version for any teatotalers out there.

Besides skyrocketing to the top of many fan lists, Käärijä manages to make every single part of his performance and Eurovision participation iconic. Have you seen the T-shirts Käärjiä made with a quote from his first English interview with us — “It’s crazy, it’s party”?

Check out the shirt below, and then swipe to hear our interview with Jere back in January just before his song and participation were announced to the public.

This year is insane. For instance, Loreen is my favorite this year and I’ve noticed that when wiwibloggs posted something about her, there was pretty mean comments and I thought that it was just Loreen.. But now I see there’s here as well. And ofc it’s because it’s a favorite as well. And I’m just thinking, Why? Why can’t people enjoy their favorite song without the hate, why can’t wiwiblogg post whatever they like?? As someone said, they’re not EBU! They can post whatever they like. If you don’t have nice thing to say then dont say it. I find… Read more »

I feel like the negativity in Eurovision bubble just keeps getting worse every year, if you don’t like a song you don’t have to go and tell everyone about how much it sucks, just go enjoy things that you like instead. No need to start fighting with random people online and ruin everybody’s mood. I on the other hand am going to stay here and be proud that my country has finally sent a song in Finnish and just wanna say that it really warms my heart that so many people like the song too since for years I’ve listened… Read more »

I don’t like pinã coladas. Coconut Milk, pineapple juice and rum – too sweet. Is there some other recipe which is not quite as sugary?

Why do all the favs have so much hate in the comment section…
Samo mi se spava, Tattoo and now cha cha cha.
I refuse to believe these are real people.
Some bitter lowlife person must be sending bots to the fans because they think this will change people’s perspective on the songs..
Guess what?
IT WON’T
if you decide to do the same sh*t to Italy, Spain, France and Czechia then I just wanna tell you that no one will ever like you in life and it should stay that way.

No, we are real. And it’s sad that I have to comment these things, because I really love cha cha cha and Tattoo. But the fact that you (and a lot of others) cannot see wiwibloggs being biased towards these entries is kinda sad. As the biggest Eurovision site they shouldn’t be biased, shouldn’t force on their readers to hype up certain entries. But they always do. They wrote like 5 articles for Ulrikke this year and completely erased her from memory when they saw she’s not winning. Pathetic. Wonder who’s gonna be next…

The fact that this was article worthy just proves that Wiwibloggs is biased. We get it, you have favorites. No need to push them down people’s throats, jeez.

It’s normal, expected and even wanted that they are putting more focus on the favorites: https://eurovisionworld.com/odds/eurovision Sweden and Finland are currently favorites, so of course they get the most attention. Later when rehearsals start, and if we see a third country skyrocket, I can bet you we will see articles about it. Loreen is a former winner and probably the most popular in this millennia, and her new song is a banger. Of course she get attention… Finland just has everything is right with this song and performance, and then it’s in Finnish (all the traditionalist should cry of happiness).… Read more »

You do know Käärijä was exposed by a Finnish Author and a Finlandia Prize Winner Sofia Oksanen for following pro-Russian, anti-vaccination radicalized political group on Facebook? He claims he supports Ukraine, but somehow he still managed to follow this super radical group that has only existed for a year. MTV3 made an article on it in Finnish. Of course every site wants to keep this silent, because how does it look when a new NATO country sends a song to ESC made by a guy who might not exactly be nice…

This is incorrect. He has made a very clear statement of condemning Russia’s actions and does not support any statements by this party. Many people follow this party just to laugh at their stupidity. They are absolutely ridiculous. Käärijä has probably not realised that he very suddenly over night became a very public person so people care about what he does. Finland is the country in Europe that supports Ukraine’s war efforts fully. 83% of the Finns think the matter is extremely serious and 11% says it’s serious. EU average is 33%. This is because of our history. For somebody… Read more »

He has also said he is against Russians actions in Ukraine. is a good guy, stop spreading BS about him. The wording was the same, as is the misspelling of the writer’s name, it’s Sofi without an A.

He also claims to have known Robin Packalen personally and likes to bad mouth him too. The username in yt is @TwistedElegance

He supports equality and human rights. https://www.iltalehti.fi/musiikki/a/a0bbf67f-e7e6-447f-b353-c1964be94651 The political group/party you are speaking is relatively new and there has been different kind of views in the political group. Stop spreading that dangerous conspiracy theory, please! While I’m not an expert, it sounds like defamation, spreading false information and stalking: who on earth would go to scroll through paranoically someone else’s list of followed on social media? It’s not healthy, and then even to come up with such a thing of lies and then spreading it forward. By that same logic if a politician follows his or her opponent on social media, does it make him or her the supporter of that opponent? Or if an athlete or a sports team does the same thing to their opponents? Or… Read more »
