Honestly, Contraste Mudo is such a beautifully written piece of music. It’s raw, honest, engaging – and it could go on for another 5 minutes and you could listen to every second and feel like no time has passed at all. It’s the sort of song that doesn’t need a hook, or a chorus, because it’s the energy and the feeling that underlies it that sticks in your head. It’s by far and away the most captivating song at FdC, and honestly could be an incredible result for Portugal if they send it. I know they won’t win, but seriously… Read more »

“Ai coração” by Mimicat is my favorite. It’s that typpe of song that i don’t get tired to listen to.
in the other hand claudia song, visually is really good, but listening to it, i get kinda bored with it, because is really repetitive “nasci maria, nasci maria, nasci maria nasci mulher” over and over and over again.
this year FdC has really good songs , ai coração, endless world, encruzilhada and sapatos de cimento (my favorites). i just hope my country choses right.

It’s going to be a historic FdC Final! It’s the jury’s life that’s on the line: this time the audience’s favorite song is a BIG song! It’s not mainstream and yet it’s absolutely unique and perfect. The most consensual song… he most consensual song… Ex.: Lyric video 99.67% approval in likes and comments (Semi Final video 97%), will test the exemption of the jury and RTP.

Mimicat already nailed the performance whilst being sick. I can’t wait to see how amazing she’ll be when she’s not. I’m 100% rooting for Ai Coração to win FdC this year. I’ve never seen my favorite win the Portuguese selection though… Well, I guess there’s a first time for everything! xD

It’s not really the worst of the bunch, the problem is that it’s just way too repetitive, but yeah, it would be a very underwhelming and uninspired choice.

I think there are very good songs in this selection. Claudia has a very good performance and it would be a amazing entry but I can’t choose yet wich is my favorite there is a lot what impressed me! I think people would like the Maria inspired song

Choosing a favorite here is extremely hard. I still feel kinda bad narrowing it down to two or three. Claudia sticks out for me unfortunately as the frontrunner I don’t love, but that leaves Barbara, Edmundo, Mimi, You Can’t Win and Neon Soho.

You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown are my standout favourites this year! But, once again, Festival Da Cancao proves just how strong it is (and underrated when compared to Melfest, Sanremo, etc.)

You can’t win Charlie Brown is my winner..
.. and I’m starting to think it could be the best choice as well for Portugal.
We don’t have any real class song and performance this year. And it usually works well for Portugal unlike when they go more loud or over the top.
RTP knows how to stage class performances as well and it would besuch an easy stand out in that 1st SF. Nothing comes close.

I’m not a huge fan of this selection. None of the songs besides 1 of them really clicks with me. That one song is by Mimicat. I hope she wins.

honestly, I will be very disappointed if we choose Claudia. The song is not good and her attitude does not help.
I understand why people like mimicat. However, I don’t think it sounds new or fresh in Portugal. I feel I’ve heard this music before.
My favourite to win is You can’t win charlie brown. I would be proud to take that song to represent us

I’m really curious to know when did you get a chance to meet Cláudia, to me she always comes across as down to earth, cool and fun with strong songs that are rooted on traditional sounds with a positive message. But tell me what happened when you met that made you not like her attitude!

Also, can you please list some songs that sound like Mimicat? Really curious as well! Especially cause that are 367 indie bands that sound just like You Can’t Win Charlie Brown.

I voted for Dapunksportif b/c “World Needs Therapy” is a good rock song with lyrics many can relate too. They won’t win, but I have Mimicat as mine #2, so of course I’m pleased to see “Al Coracao” on top here. If she wins I feel that’ll be a good song for Portugal in this Eurovision.

Voted for Cláudia Pascoal, Edmundo Inácio, Mimicat and You Can’t Win Charlie Brown. Any of these 4 would make me happy and do very well on my personal ranking. The first 3 would make me more confident about Portugal qualifying from a tough televote-only Eurovision semi-final though. While “Contraste Mudo” is possibly too delicate and mellow for the task. Since I started following FdC, this is the most difficult edition to predict the winner. Besides the aforementioned acts, Bárbara Tinoco and Ivandro are known names that can grab votes from the audience and the jury. I don’t think she would… Read more »

Oh, I like Neon Soho too! I was so relieved when they got the wildcard, because they surely gave one of the best performances of the 1st semi.

In fact, there’s only one entry in the final I don’t like. Replacing Dapunksportif with Bandua, I would have a lineup that I would gladly listen to over and over and over.

I don’t select my song by weighing the chances of winning or qualifying but I actually think YCWCB has more chances of qualifying. if the semi-final is 100% televote, a song needs to be the favourite of some people. Do you think Claudia, Edmundo or Mimicat will be the number one of many? I have my doubts.

Before SF2, I was Team Mimicat all the way through, but Edmundo Inácio won me over. What a fantastic performance, this would easily be in my top 5 (Mimicat would be in too, actually). These two are my winners, with a slight edge for Edmundo. You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown is my third option and Claudia right behind. Seriously, I think Portugal has my favourite national selection this year.

My absolute favorite is Contraste Mudo. If this would go, it would be my favorite song in ESC this year. I actually thing that it could have a good chance amidst of all the uptempo songs in SF1. But I would also very much to see something uptempo and and a dynamic staging from Portugal for a change. And for that Mimicat of course would be great and then Claudia. But both of them could become lost and not make for the final, also because they are not singing in English. Barbara Tinoca and Ivando are not bad, but sure… Read more »

My favorite song of the entire season (Bandua’s Bandeiras) has already been unbelievably and immeasurably robbed in the SF, so I’m now fully supporting Mimicat, the Charlie Brown band and Voodoo Marmalade in the final. Each one of these 3 entries would easily make it into my top 5 for Liverpool, Portugal rules the ESC.

This Fdc year is strong! I really can’t choose between Mimicat and Claudia Pascoal. Both are really good entries. If either of them wins I’ll be sad about the other. But i think mimicat’s staging needs a bit of tidying up. Her vocals are amazing tho! Other than these two, I really really love Goodnight and Contraste Mudo. I’m not sure if they’re winner material, but they are so calming to listen to 🙂 And then Sapatos de Cimento is a cute fun song too. I didn’t expect it to qualify, but it did and that’s nice. FdC has very quickly become my favourite NF, being so authentic, diverse and qualitative every year. I’m just happy to see Portugal in their personal Renaissance since their 2017 return. My personal faves are Mimicat and You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown, but I’d honestley be happy if Ivandro, Ines, Neon Soho or Edmundo won. Not every year. Sobral did so much for Portugal in ES, before him they failed to qualify four years in a row. And both of the last two entries, Maro and Black Mamba received more votes from the jury in the semis than from the fans. They would qualify both times even without juries, but their position would be weaker, and both of those songs are better than anything Portugal has this year. In both 2021. and 2022. Portugal was also in a weaker semis. In 2021. they had Spain vote for them. Now they are in one of the… Read more »
