Thirty countries will sing in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool. Twenty will advance from the two semi-finals, while another six — France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ukraine and the United Kingdom — will join them in the final. But amid all the music and all the strong voices, who will come out on top?

Before rehearsals start in Liverpool we want to know: Who do you think will win Eurovision 2023

You can vote for as many countries as you’d like, but you can only submit your votes one time. Let the world know what you’re thinking by commenting in the comments box at the end of this post.

It’s up to you, Europe! Start voting now!

We will close this poll just before first rehearsals start in Liverpool.

Poll: Who will win Eurovision 2023?

As you’re well aware, the results of the Eurovision Song Contest are determined by a 50/50 jury-televote split. The votes of professional jury members don’t always align with the preferences of the public.

In recent years the overall Eurovision winner has not won both segments of the vote. In 2022, Ukraine’s In 2021, Italy’s Måneskin topped the televote, but only placed fourth with the jury. While in 2019 The Netherlands’ Duncan Laurence won neither — placing third with the jury and second with the public. It was a similar story for Israel’s Netta in 2018 — first with the public, third with the jury. Portugal’s Salvador Sobral was the last Eurovision winner to win both segments of the vote.

Who do you WANT to win Eurovision 2023? And who do you think WILL win? And what about the public-televote split? Let us know what you’re thinking down below.

I am swedish buy I really don’t think Loreen will win. With that said, I do think she is amazing and the best choice for Sweden this year. But there are better songs. I think Spain, France or Italy has a better chance to win the jury vote. And I think Finland will win the televoting. But who knows? It’s gonna be a great show for sure! My personal top 5:
1. Armenia
2. Norway
3. Spain
4. Italy

Spain is the classiest, followed by Italy and France. None of the three will win. Armenia is the best outsider. UK won’t disgrace itself. I don’t get ireland or Australia. Both fairly boring. Sweden will win, but I hope it doesn’t. I really wish Poland would win, if only to upset the Eurovision snobs, but the juries will never let it through. I’m not sure about Ukraine – could do very well, depending on the political feelings at the time. In a couple of weeks we will all have had the early warning siren on our phones, so that might… Read more »

(Repeating this because the bot didn’t like a word it didn’t bother about last year.) It’s a classy song, but is competing with an equally classy song with Italy and Spain. I think that will split the vote, sadly. Plus France has a record of staging its entries in a manner best described by another commenter here as “bat**** crazy”. They managed to tone it down a bit with Voila, but I wouldn’t bet the farm on their staging this year. I have money on it so I hope I’m wrong.

For fun I just checked the results from previous years on Wiwibloggs and;

  • 2016 Poland was the favourite (finished 8th), Ukraine that won was 12th in the poll
  • 2017 Italy was the favourite (finished 6th), Portugal that won was 5th in the poll
  • 2018 Israel was the favourite (won)
  • 2019 the Netherlands was the favourite (won)
  • 2021 Greece was the favourite (finished 10th), Italy that won was 6th in the poll
  • 2022 Spain was the favourite (finished 3rd), Ukraine that won was 9th in the poll

When I read I see that many speak negatively about, for example, Finland and Sweden, which are favourites. But what gives points is not how many negative comments or opinions there are, but how many that have a number as your absolute favorite. Sometimes I think negative comments in the comment can make people more engaged and inclined to vote for a song.

You’re absolutely right. I wasn’t planning to vote for Sweden so I can spread my votes to my other favourites but I’m definitely voting for “Tattoo” now. The more downvotes the obsessed ‘fans’ give, the more actual votes it will translate to where it really matters.

If I were Swedish I wouldn’t be “counting my chickens before they hatch”. Former winners returning like Charlotte Perrelli, Carola, Niamh Kavanagh, Dana International and Lena, didn’t fare so well the second time around. Sometimes it’s best to quit while you’re on top. Tatoo is no Euphoria. As for Finland, Really? It’s just noise.

Well I have not seen any other new ground breaking performances this year. Must songs sound like something we heard before. Winning Eurovision usually needs three components: a good song, a good performance (the Singer must be able ton sing not rely on to much backtrack) and the staging should fit the song. Who do you think have all these three?

ThorBeta
ThorBeta

Reply to  NikEuroV

Why shouldn’t Sweden win? Is this the ‘most original song award’? “Tattoo” is enjoyable, memorable, well produced and exceptionally performed and cleverly staged. It ticks all the boxes like all recent winners have. Was “Toy”, “Arcade” or “Zitti e buoni” groundbreaking? Or if you look into other songs that did very well in the recent years was there anything ‘original’ that we haven’t seen before in “SloMo”, “Space Man”, “Voilá”, “Spirit in the sky” or “Fuego”? I’m really perplexed by the fans’ attitude sometimes.

Hélène

I agree. Most of the songs that fans say are believing to be original are worse copies of other songs than those they judge as generic. I am so tired of this. It is the whole package that makes a winner.

My absolute 10/10 – and very surprised because they are really from different genres and singing in different languages- are Slovenia, Portugal, Moldavia, Spain and France. Any of them I would love to see as the contest winner. I do like Estonia, Uk, Armenia, Czechia, Austria and Serbia, but prefer by far the other five. Sweden, I do like the song but I am hating this overhyped obsession with Loreen; Finland is growing on me but still not my thing; Israel just no; Norway, meh, nothing original about it; Croatia….some really nice songs in their contest and then…………..

Matter of being on the point with voice and doing a good staging. France unfortunately was not on the point. More a mess than presenting a very good, particular entry. They were good, but not good enough for the great song. Spain 2023 will do it better. They already proved it.

There’s a big Spanish fan community and it’s quite influential. And there’s also an alternative eurofan community that gets obsessed with everything that is not conventional pop. I’m not sure about the song myself tbh. I can’t enjoy it because I find it too complex, but I appreciate the performance. I don’t think that it will connect with people at home as well as Spanish fans want to think, since European audiences have barely any exposure to New flamenco sounds, but I do think that juries will reward the artistry and the vocals. A lot of us are overlooking Ukraine as a potential winner again. Does the song itself scream winner vibes? Not really, although the revamp made it contest worthy. But don’t underestimate the appeal these 3min will have on the European audience, when Ukraine shows Europe they’re not only still here, but looking ahead and creating themselves a new future. Many will call this political, I call it human. We’ve all been moved by their resilience that will be translated in stage in another manner than last year’s winners. Also, there’s a high chance the Ukrainian team will again come up… Read more »
