The BBC are making sure Eurovision week will be full of content for UK viewers. They’ve announced two brand new programmes that will be broadcast on BBC One. Firstly, on Monday 8 May, comedian Jason Manford and singer-songwriter Chelcee Grimes will present Eurovision Calling: Jason and Chelcee’s Ultimate Guide, which will showcase 20 compelling reasons why the Eurovision Song Contest is the greatest show on Earth. Then on Friday 12 May, “Sax” hitmaker Fleur East will present Eurovision: Everyone’s A Winner — this will be a chart rundown of the twenty most successful Eurovision songs that didn’t quite win the song contest.

Käärijä does press in Lithuania
Finland’s Eurovision star has crossed the Baltic Sea and spent the day in Lithuania. Käärijä took time meeting fans as well as doing a string of press interviews for both radio and TV. In his Instagram post about the day, the “Cha Cha Cha” hitmaker now jokingly refers to himself as ‘Mr Worldwide’ — he was at least Mr Lithuania for a day.

Noa Kirel reveals staging details for Liverpool
In an interview with newspaper Israel Hayom, Noa Kirel discussed her Eurovision journey so far and what is yet to come. She noted that she was wary about agreeing to participate in the contest to begin with, but eventually agreed after speaking with her father, manager and psychologist. The “Unicorn” singer also unveiled some details about what we can expect in Liverpool: Avichai Hacham is directing the stage show, which will feature Noa joined by five dancers on stage (mix of male and female); there will also be changes to the instrumentation of the song, with a freeze being included in the middle and an extra four seconds added in total.

Alika films Estonia’s Eurovision postcard
Another day, another postcard. Estonia’s Alika ascended new heights as she filmed her Eurovision postcard at the top of a TV tower in her home country. “I would say I’m more likely excited than scared”, she said. (Oliver)

Andrew Lambrou covers Noa Kirel’s “Unicorn”
More love for Noa Kirel today as another of her Eurovision 2023 classmates covered “Unicorn”. Cypriot act Andrew Lambrou took to TikTok to share his rendition of the Israeli artists’ song, belting out the big notes as he embodied the power of the mythical creature. (Oliver)

To me, the most exciting part of this year’s Eurovision were the national finals. There are few songs in the actual show I find listenable. It’s a pity.
I still don’t get the hype around Israel. One listen is all I needed, it’s beyond generic. Can’t recall the song like at all.
Wiwibloggs last year we got the interview of Twan Van De Nieuwenhuijzen the Head of Contest one month before the rehearsals and he gave some interesting hints about some stagings, will we get the same this year?
And an interview of the Smarkets betting analyst about Eurovision 2023 would be cool and interesting too…
Unicorn, in my top 3, what a wonderful song! I really like the message of loving yourself, not being afraid to present yourself as different from the rest. And above all, the power of the unicorn to heal sick people, that’s really what this world needs, someone to heal it. Plus the dance at the end, oh my god, she’s amazing!
I have never heard anyone being healed by that power of a unicorn, huh.
You otherthink this song imo
*overthink
Dance break, five dancers on stage, mix of male and female dancers, changes to the instrumentation of the song, freezing being included in the middle… Really, Doron Medalie? Tell us you just wanted to put out SloMo 2.0 already, it’s so painfully obvious anyway, and I was never even a fan of SloMo anyway, but as a song it’s still clear ahead of whatever Unicorn is trying to be, honestly.
I think it’s a bit risky for her to make a dancebreak just the year after Chanel because of course she will be obliged to undergo the comparison…
Chanel was compared to Eleni, Noa will be compared to Chanel….
I definitely think he is going all in with it but I mean, Israeli performances are usually like that anyway, more or less
Chanel didn’t invent any of it either, but I totally agree he could’ve been more creative
You really think you know how the staging going to look like? Well, you definitely not.
Wait for the show then talk
Israel’s song is a hot mess, I think it was made for the stage rather than as an actual song
This is eurovision not just a song contest…the word vision is not by mistake. The show is 50% of the total packege.
Many great songs collapse when performing them live and vica versa.
What will happen with israels song depands on the live performance and unlike
Most of the countries it will be seen only at eurovision, and not by mistake
4 sec, it’s really precise…
Why aren’t The BBC showcasing this year’s entries rather than trotting out tiresome clip shows? I was hoping we’d have some proper preview programmes. Instead, we’ll get Jason Manford having a laugh at Sámiid Ædnan.
They’ll be showcasing the entries on the actual semi-finals and final. I suppose YouTube has made preview shows kinda redundant.
I think we will quite agree about Israel’s song when the time comes. I also don’t like it at all.
Well, Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so are you And so Are the Wiwi Jury judges. So don’t tell then What to think And say about the song. Maybe Israel will get all 10s And have a perfect score. I myself am not a big fan of the song either But I am 100 % sure that the song will be elevated on the stage. It just sounds like a song that will come alive on the stage. Just like Croatia. I can’t Listen to that song on spotify or radio. I just skip it. But I always… Read more »
Chanel won you over in the end, maybe Noa will do the same.
I apologize. I re-read And you Are right! My mistake! Croatia only has a charm Because of the performance. (For me) The performance does all the Magic. Let 3 was nowhere near anyone’s TOP 3 (even TOP 5) in Dora until the live performances. Harmonija Disonance was everyone’s favorite along other pop songs. Still not sure If they will qualify. Israel is What most people (And fans) look forward in Eurovision. A pop song, sexy dance Break, a queen, slay moments.. so yes, She might do very well with the fandom And I think she will be above Iceland And… Read more »
It is the opposite for me. I rather listen to Let 3 on Spotify than watch the performance.
You dont like the song? You dont have there are millions other that do like it so your opinion is just another opinion not more then that so dont forget it.
When it comes to live show be sure that noa will make you be silent
