Alika will sing “Bridges” for Estonia at Eurovision 2023.

After a top 15 finish in Turin, Alika is hoping to make it to the grand final in Liverpool and secure a solid result for Estonia.

Estonia at Eurovision 2023: Alika with “Bridges”

Alika Milova is a 20-year-old singer from Narva, Estonia. As a child, she rose to fame in the Baltic nations participating in the talent show circuit. In 2021, she won Eesti otsib superstaari — the Estonian iteration of Idol — and bagged a record deal with Universal.

Alika won Eesti Laul 2023 and earned the right to represent Estonia at Eurovision 2023 with her song “Bridges”. Born on 5 September 2002, Alika shares a birthday with fellow Eurovision 2023 contestant Alessandra — who represents Norway with “Queen of Kings”.

What do the “Bridges” lyrics mean?

Alika co-wrote her Eurovision 2023 track alongside songwriters Nina Sampermans and Wouter Hardy, who penned Gjon’s Tears’ “Tout l’universe”. Hardy is also a song contest champion, lending his songwriting skills to Duncan Laurence’s “Arcade”.

“Bridges” is a classic piano ballad with a pinch of dramatic theatre. The lyrics inspire hope in the midst of darkness, as Alika commits to opening herself up to positivity after lamenting in feelings in despair. With lines like “there is always time to get back on track”, Alika realises it’s never too late to turn things around — no matter how dire the straits may seem.

Alika — “Bridges” lyrics (Estonia Eurovision 2023)

Songwriters: Alika Milova, Wouter Hardy, Nina Sampermans

Now I’m heading home to solid ground
Realized that all the lies I’ve told myself have died
Bring me to the place where I belong
Filled with all the memories and dreams I have ignored

Aaah, aaah, aaah

There is always time
To get back on track
Tearing down the walls
Slowly every step
Now I see myself
Building up a world of bridges

There is one more thing you need to know
That I forgive myself for all the lies I said before
Now I see the road of leading lights
Showing me where I should go and what to leave behind

Aaah, aaah

There is always time
To get back on track
Tearing down the walls
Slowly every step
Now I see myself
Building up a world of bridges

You will find a way
To begin again
No more time to waste
Or to play pretend
Now I see myself
Building up a world of bridges

I remember all the things that I went through
All the lies and blurry lines and city lights I knew
Now I’m strong enough to see what lays inside
And I can feel it all

There is always time
To get back on track
Tearing down the walls
Slowly every step
Now I see myself
Building up a world of bridges

You will find a way
To begin again
No more time to waste
Or to play pretend
Now I see myself
Building up a world of bridges

best female vocalist of the year, definitely

great lyrical composition too, Wouter Hardy (Arcade, Tout L’Univers composer) really delivers yet again!

normally with juries would’ve been a easy top 3 qualifier in that semi, now without juries gonna be a struggle but ballads and especially more pure emotional ballads can do well with televoters too i think, message wise is more universal which is also good, maybe scraping through around 8th 9th 10th in semi

This girl can sing. Quality song one of the leading ballads of 2023. I hope Estonia make the final. Best of the Baltics by far.
