Loreen snatches wigs in London
Eurovision icon Loreen has been figuratively snatching wigs for over a decade with her music. But in between her engagements in London, the Swedish star also did it physically. Professional dancer and social media influencer Austyn Farrell invited Loreen to be part of a TikTok montage of her songs. Austyn opens things up by delivering some slick choreography to “Euphoria” whilst in drag. Then who should appear than Loreen herself — she snatches Austyn’s wig and then shows him how it’s done by lip-syncing to her 2023 entry “Tattoo”. (Jonathan)
@austyn_farrell When @Loreen stops by and wants to snatch ya wig…you let her 👑 😍 For me this was such a moment dancing for and alongside loreen! A college I got to perform to her songs and now I got to do it with her 💃🏻 Jo Dyce 💃🏻 Zoe p 🎥 Alan Thank you! #eurovision #eurovision2023 #Ad ♬ Fighters – OctaSounds
Mimicat’s dancers continue to rehearse
Mimicat has promised changes to her performance for Liverpool — we know that there won’t be a sofa like at Festival da Canção. But it seems she will be retaining the four dancers from her grand final performance. The fierce foursome have shared footage of themselves rehearsing their choreography. For now, most of this seems the same as the national final. (Jonathan)
Croatia’s Let 3 host Reddit AMA
Ever wondered what goes on in the minds of Let 3? Well, now you know. The Croatian wonders went live on the Eurovision subreddit today to host an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session, chatting all things “Mama SC”. They answered questions about their musical image, LGBTQ+ rights in Croatia, and the inspiration behind their lyrics. NSFW warning — things get a little adult and sexual in the thread. Viewer discretion is advised.
Käärijä leads Germany’s song check after two shows
Germany is broadcasting its Eurovision preview show this week. Two episodes of ESC-Songcheck have aired so far, looking at all the acts in semi-final one plus half of the automatic qualifiers (Spain, France and Italy). The result is determined by a 50:50 split between an online public vote and a jury (which features Austria’s Eurovision 2018 star Cesár Sampson). Norway’s Alessandra and Finland’s Käärijä topped the two shows, with the latter leading the overall standings. Based on the ranking of just those acts in semi-final one, the non-qualifiers would be Netherlands, Portugal, Azerbaijan, Switzerland and Ireland.
The final two shows take place this Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd. (Jonathan)
Blanka films Poland’s Eurovision postcard
Poland’s Blanka is up next to share behind the scenes footage from her Eurovision 2023 postcard shoot. In the Physics Department at the University of Warsaw, the model-come-singer danced and partied with students on the top floor of the prestigious education institution.
