Four acts are returning to the Eurovision stage in 2023. They’re each hoping to improve upon (or in one case match) their previous result at the contest.

We previously asked you to name your favourite from these four acts. But we also got you to vote between past and present and select which of their Eurovision entries you preferred.

After counting and verifying all the votes, we now have results to share.

Poll battles: Eurovision 2023 returning artists

Based on the results of our poll battles, our readers think three of this year’s returnees are coming back with a stronger entry than last time.

But for Loreen, it was her 2012 song “Euphoria” that earned the most votes. The Eurovision-winning song has gone on to be one of the contest’s biggest all-time hits, so it was naturally going to be hard for the Swedish star to top what many people already see as perfection.

Italy – Marco Mengoni

  1. “Due Vite” (2023) | 59.65%, 1,156 votes
  2. “L’essenziale” (2013) | 40.35%, 782 votes

Total Votes: 1,938

Lithuania – Monika Linkytė

  1. “Stay” (2023) | 71.85%, 1,230 votes
  2. “This Time” (2015) | 28.15%, 482 votes

Total Votes: 1,712

Moldova – Pasha Parfeni

  1. “Soarele şi Luna” (2023) | 74.49%, 1,288 votes
  2. “Lăutar” (2012) | 25.51%, 441 votes

Total Votes: 1,729

Sweden – Loreen

  1. “Euphoria” (2012) | 63.66%, 1,475 votes
  2. “Tattoo” (2023) | 36.34%, 842 votes

Total Votes: 2,317

Full results: Who is your favourite returning artist at Eurovision 2023?

Despite “Tattoo” finishing second in the poll battle, Loreen is still a clear winner when we just focus on the 2023 returning entries. She earned almost 50% of the vote in this final poll, walking away with a very confident win.

  1. Sweden: Loreen – “Tattoo” | 48.40%, 1,303 votes
  2. Italy: Marco Mengoni – “Due Vite” | 22.10%, 595 votes
  3. Moldova: Pasha Parfeni – “Soarele şi Luna” | 16.49%, 444 votes
  4. Lithuania: Monika Linkytė – “Stay” | 13.00%, 350 votes

Total Votes: 2,692

What do you make of the results? Do you think Loreen can become a two-time Eurovision winner now she’s returning in 2023? Let us know in the comments below.

Tattoo ain’t bad per se, and I actually like it more than Euphoria. It’s just so painfully calculated and forced which is somewhat of a turnoff.
And also, can’t help but hearing The Winner Takes It All and the very beginning, then Frozen during the break…and well…Euphoria throughout. Sadly.

Nothing has been confirmed yet. The contest and rehearsals haven’t even started yet. Even as a Swede myself I don’t see Loreen as a “guaranteed victory” like so many other people do. She’s our best shot yes but everything can still happen and stuff can still go wrong for Loreen

They very well do, it’s just people’s different music taste. How hard is it to just accept that people like different music?

Around this time last year Ukraine also had 42% chance of winning on the odds, increasinc to 62% just before the final. I doubt if Loreen will beat this figures so near the final.

I liken loreen to Ukraine too. Ukraine was the poster for last years Eurovision. It was the most pushed song because of the war.
Loreen’s is the most pushed song this year on radio. The Eurovision is becoming a right wing advertising gimmick.
Example boris, trump, putin. They have one dictator and push that person however good or bad as their lead character

Loreen having a 42% chance of winning definitely isn’t unheard of. Duncan Laurence in 2019 had 51% chance to win and Ukraine last year had a 62% chance to win. While yes 42% is a high number its definitely not unheard of or that insane. Going back to other years it usually balances at a 20-35% chance to win and thats years that have 2 possible winners

Im growing tired of this woman. I feel her song has peaked and looking at wiwi numbers on YouTube the live performance viewing numbers would back that up.

I don’t know if it’s only nostalgia but all previous entries from all 4 artists were better for me. Especially Euphoria and L’essenziale. I can see Loreen taking the victory in May too and I will not even get angry or anything. She deserves a TOP 5 or a TOP 3 finish no questions asked. But it would be more special if Finland wins with a more original song. The thing that excites me the most about Loreen winning is not her song but the fact we would get another artist who won 2 times and Sweden earning their 7th… Read more »

I really love Loreen and I think she has an amazing voice, one of the best of this year, but Euphoria deserved more the 1st place than Tattoo (it’s a great song too but not the same level sorry). Also, the performance is a little too similar to the past for me…She deserves the top 5 but I find it a little repetitive. (Remark: I don’t want her to denaturalize, but I would have appreciated a style a little less similar) As an Italian, I prefer “L’essenziale” but I also like “Due vite”. I really love Marco and all his… Read more »

Sweden – Copy of “Euphoria”/”TWTIA” from AliExpress and it’s even worse than “Euphoria”…
Finland – Copy of “We Got The Moves”. (The judges will kill it for sure, IT’S A CIRCUS!)
Norway – We’ve heard this tune hundreds of times before.

I don’t understand the hype… Mainly from Sweden, 2 screens and she makes dramatic hand movements, wow!!…. No! -_-

I just discovered “We got the moves”… Well…. I really like “Cha cha cha” but actually, it’s true it’s some kind of plagiarism. Too many similarities in the song itself and in the visuals (haircut….). It sure can’t be coincidences.

Käärijä has had the same haircut since 2015. EC has it only on that one music video. Both parties have been asked about the plagiarism, and both denyi it (both interviews are on YouTube). Käärijä was actually in a lie detecting machine through the whole interview and according to the machine he was telling the truth.

Tattoo isn’t a copy of anything though, very original, authentic song and 1000000000000% better than euphoria trash

It’s really not fair that you don’t promote Sweden and Finland enough on this site, 30 posts a month is not enough, we need more!
