It’s out. And it’s yours. Those were Loreen’s words on Instagram as she finally celebrated the release of “Is It Love,” her Eurovision follow-up single.

As ever, Loreen sought to meld pop with art. Describing the song she says:

“’Is It Love’ was born from a place of seeking clarity, it’s a song describing and contemplating a love that’s so deep but at the same time filled with confusion.”

“It’s about realising that to create a deeper understanding of yourself you need to accept the duality of life, that distortion and clarity goes hand in hand and are equally as important.”

“And to experience the depth of true love, both to the self as well as to others, you have to accept and experience the depth of pain.”

As with “Tattoo” and “Euphoria,” Loreen’s powerful voice reigns over cinematic production. During the contemplative verses she admits to “workin’ on the riddle of your heart” as she’s “lost you in the maze.” And then her plea, which can only be answered by a question: “Now let me out. Is it love?” It all swells into a Sia-like chorus.

The track is written by MTHR (”Can’t Tame Her” – Zara Larsson, “Better Days” – Neiked) together with Dag Lundberg (”Where Are You Now” – Lost Frequencies) and Maia Wright (Armin Van Buuren, Gryffin NOTD). The vocal production is made by Albin Nedler (Harry Styles, Sam Smith, Selena Gomez), and mix engineer Josh Gudwin (Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Justin Bieber).

Loreen is set to embark on a sold-out UK & European tour this winter, kicking off in Dublin on 7 November with shows in Glasgow on 8 November, and London’s Electric Brixton on 10 November with a further 15 stops across Europe before wrapping on 5 December in Paris, France.

With stage visuals designed by Tobias Rylander whose previous work includes lighting design for Beyonce’s Renaissance World Tour and Loreen’s very own Eurovision-winning performance of “Tattoo”, the show promises to be a completely immersive experience, mimicking Loreen’s personal ethics of prioritising connections with fans, nature, spirituality, and music.

Is It Love lyrics — Loreen

You’ll find me in the echo of the dark
Workin’ on the riddle of your heart
Lost you in the maze, now let me out
Is it love, is it love, is it love?

Without a warning, we got a sign
Will you call me or will you hide?
There’s a shadow in my mind
How do I know it?
Is it love?

Tell me, what in your heart am I now?
Is it love? Is it love? Is it love?
Tell me, what do you feel in the night?
Is it love? Is it love? Is it love?
Is it love?
Is it love?
Tell me, how do you sleep when I’m right by your side?
Is it love? Is it love? Is it love?

You’ll find me in the middle of the sea
Drownin’ in the words that we don’t speak
Bring me out, don’t leave me in the deep
Is it love, is it love, is it love?
Without a warning, without a sign
Will you call me or will you hide?
There’s a shadow in my mind
How do I know it?
Is it love?

Tell me, what in your heart am I now?
Is it love? Is it love? Is it love?
Tell me, what do you feel in the night?
Is it love? Is it love? Is it love?
Is it love?
Is it love?
Tell me, how do you sleep when I’m right by your side?
Is it love? Is it love? Is it love?

I personally love it. Loreen’s team is clearly going for an (even more) mainstream song to follow Tattoo, which isn’t an issue, perhaps she just wants to gain more fans or go viral on TikTok again.

I have no doubts Loreen’s upcoming singles will be more unique and experimental. I’m enjoying the Moroccan sounds in her music lately, I hope to hear more!

Never thought I would say ” needs to be longer. Cause it ends so abruptly..
But that is the only critique I have, the song is great. So happy now that Loreen has control over her own career and what she wants to do, as opposed to the EDM star fans and record labels wanted her to be.

I love Loreen but this is pretty mediocre and disappointing for a follow-up to a smash hit!

In France the song is in the top20 single charts since august. Still #12 in the spotify streaming charts at the moment. Also the most played song of the summer in the radio. Here this song has been HUGE for months

Slightly out of topic. Am I the only one curious about how the 250 vote is going to be this year. Is Loreen’s crowd going to agree in rally one one of her songs to make her get back in #1? Is her voting going to get split and someone else (Chanel again or even Kaarija) getting up there?

I would not be surprised if Cha Cha Cha wins in a spiteful attempt to “avenge” Loreen’s win in Liverpool.

I absolutely love it. My only complaint is that the song is way too short. Other than that, it’s brilliant. So proud of Loreen.

I like the distinct instrumentation of the first two seconds, my immediate thought is “this sounds promising”, then in kicks the overly familiar computery wave sound and I think “uh oh, we’re in trouble now”, but luckily it recovers. A grower, I suspect.

Tbh I really like this- it’s one of those songs that just feels like a (short) hit the first time you listen to it but it still has all the Loreen hallmarks- the bad enunciation (I say this in an affectionate manner), the unique instrumentation and her distinctly beautiful vocals. Very very happy that Loreen finally has management that has the capability of making her a global star- not just another “EDM girl” that we were awash with in 2012 or a little too inaccessible with Ride (as much as I loved it). I look forward to the debut album… Read more »

I wish it were longer, that’s my only major criticism. Other than that, I love it. It’s a lot more mainstream than what I would expect from Loreen.
